CHAPTER SEVEN

“Hey! Miho!” shouted a familiar voice as she turned.

She wanted to run but she couldn’t.

“You’ll be okay” said Veliou hugging her as Miho held on her tightly. “I’ll see you tomorrow.”

Miho nodded her head as she watched Veliou crossing the road and walking down the Mint Street with a crowd of tanned boys who had suddenly emerged from Lilly’s flower shop.

She looked happy and relaxed something Miho had long forgotten existed and on top of that she was really beautiful.

Was this what Lee meant when he said mother was perfection? Miho thought to herself.

Miho found herself digging on the memories of her rehearsing for her play in front of Lee. By then she was ten years old.

“Go on” Lee had said while lying on the couch horizontal with a piece of paper which had all Miho’s lines on his hands.

“Let the princess goat...” Miho had said.

“It’s go not goat” Lee had said looking at the piece of paper.

“I’m never going to get all these words on my head in three days” Miho had sadly sad. “Maybe I should let Sue get the part plus she has a louder voice then me.”

“If you ask me I think you are doing pretty well” Lee had replied. “Plus your voice sound strong and scary like a real and I mean a real brave mouse which is trying to save the princess.”

“Really?” Miho had asked.

“Yes really, plus you got that face of a true warrior” Lee had said while changing his face in order to show Miho how her face looked.

“Am I really that cool?” Miho had asked in disbelieve.

“You beat you are” Lee had said. “I hate to admit it but I sometimes wish I was you. Always ready to fight the next enemy, brave, don’t have anyone taking care of you, all grown up, not lied to in order for you to know the terrible truth about your family, you take no orders from big dragons because you aren’t afraid of them and in the end you get your princess.”

They had been interrupted by their father.

“Lee what are you doing still on your school uniform on?” he had sharply asked.

“He’s helping me practice for my play” Miho had said in excitement

“Rosa will help you and you go change and meet me outside with your brother” Miho’s father had ordered before brushing Miho’s hair.

“Miss Wen shall we go?” asked Jerik from behind Miho who was lost in memories.

“Y...Yes” replied Miho following Jerik into the car which was parked a few blocks from them.

Jerik opened the door for her as she went inside as the car drove up the Grande road. Miho stared at the sunset in the horizon. It brightness was what stole Miho’s heart.

She went through her bag pack and came out with blank white piece of paper which she had placed in between her textbooks and a sharp lead pencil.

She started drawing on it endlessly. It was clear that whatever she was drawing was much deeper than a picture. Her hallow eyes had suddenly grew a spark which was much deeper than that of fire.

Suddenly there were gun shots as Miho’s pencil’s lead graphite broke on the paper.

Those gunshot sounded identical to those she had heard before her father disappeared from her life. Miho rapidly opened the car’s door and jumped out into pavement.

“Miss Wen!” Jerik yelled while rapidly stepping on the brakes.

He rapidly got out the car but Miho had already disappeared into the crowd.

“Damn it!” he yelled while kicking the ground.
