ログインIt was three months later and I could not believe my eyes, but I was in the middle of a fitting room. Ciara's fitting room. Watching her try on her wedding dress.
“Do you think I should use an off shoulder or V neck for the design?” She asked me with a smile.
Every part of me was tempted to stab her with the dangling earrings she was having on, but I suppressed the thought.
“Off shoulder is fine,” I said in an uninterested tone, as my eyes scanned the room.
This was all because of my mother, Ciara had ran to her and explained things in ways I did not know. My perfect mother decided it was only fair to push me into doing it.
“Show her you are the bigger person here,” my mom had said to my face, despite how much she knew I was hurting.
My entire body wanted to scream out, ‘I don't want to be big here’ but I nodded and told her I will think about it.
“Don't be that way,” she came over to me and touched my hand. “You know we are besties, tell me what you think will look best for me from your heart.”
I almost flung her hand away, but there were some ladies in the room and since they were unaware of how things were between us, I did not want to create a scene.
“The off shoulder is perfect,” I forced a smile on as I looked her straight in the eyes.
She was always good at acting right from when we were friends, I had never given it much thought but now it was disgusting to me.
“I need to use the bathroom,” I stood up, unable to stand sharing the same air and walked to the restroom.
“What's wrong with your friend, ma'am?” I heard one of the ladies asking her, in a hushed tone as I walked away.
Ciara must have pulled a smile as she gave the only response she could give. “She's just stressed with work, let's go over the dresses.”
I slammed the door to the restroom hard. It must have shocked them for a second, because everywhere was quiet before the noise began again.
Pulling out my phone, I texted Estelle. She was the only person keeping me sane in this crazy world.
Me: I'm losing it here, don't know how long I can keep up with it.
Estelle: What did I tell you? This is something you don't have to do, I don't know what you're trying to prove to anyone.
I sighed before my fingers hit my phone, as I sent her a reply.
Me: There's some reason in what mom said, I just want to know I'm over this and free from them.
Estelle: At the expense of you feeling hurt?
Me: I'm not hurt, maybe just a bit confused.
Estelle: Whatever you say, let me know when you get back home or will you crash at mine?
I thought for a few minutes before responding.
Me: Let's do your place, I don't want to be alone.
Estelle: Cool, keep my therapy session f*e ready… hehe. I'm not doing therapy for free anymore. See you.
I smiled before putting my phone back in my bag and stepped out to face reality.
“My husband needs to see me very snatched, can I have a straight cut instead of an A line gown?”
Those words from Ciara made me stop in my tracks and think of Savvy, he must have made me feel very loved judging from how excited she sounded.
“You're back,” the attendant said when she noticed me, jolting me out of my thoughts. “Let's try your gown.”
In contrast to the white wedding dress Ciara was having, mine was a green dress looking inferior.
“You love it, right?” She purred as she stared at my body when I stood in front of the mirror.
I swallowed a hard lump that had formed in my throat. “I do.”
She knew very well that I hated the color with my life, but still insisted on it. According to her it was supposed to make her haters die with envy, which was what the color represented in weddings.
After thirty more minutes of torture and making amendments, I drove myself straight to Estelle's place. When I got out of the car, I took in a breath of fresh air and smiled.
“Put some clothes on, you crazy girl,” I yelled as I got inside and laid my eyes on her.
Estelle was in her underwear watching a movie, she laughed when she heard my voice.
“For what? It's just you and I,” she turned around to face me. “How was your torture session?”
“I don't have any money for you, Miss Therapist, just drop it.”
“You can pay up whenever you want to.”
I dropped my bag on the sofa and sat close to it. “Can I do that when I get a big brand endorsement?”
“I'll hold you to your words when it's time,” Estelle said. “So?”
“It was nothing new just Ciara flaunting her man, in my face.”
“That is so her—” she stopped like a thought crossed her mind. “What if you go to the wedding with your man? That will be a shocker to both of them.”
“Really genius Estelle, but you know very well I don't have one.”
“It doesn't have to be real,” she had a playful look on her face. “An escort will do the job for some bucks.”
I found it hard to hold back my laughter when she said that paying for a man sounds very crazy. It was something I don't think I will ever do.
“I'll pass, that's too much for a petty revenge.” Estelle hissed and turned the TV off. “Why'd you do that? I was watching.”
“But you can't watch your life?” She stretched out her hand. “Give me your phone.”
I passed it to her, wondering what was going on in her head. She turned the TV back on after I did.
“There, watch TV. I'll take care of you.”
A chuckle left my lips as I settled in on the sofa and faced the TV, even though my mind wasn't on it.
Five minutes later, I heard her exclaim in excitement. “Yipeeee!”
“What is it?”
“You got a match.”
I raised my brows in confusion. “What match?”
“I signed you up on a escort site and you got a hot match”
“What did you do?” I asked snatching my phone, but one look at the profile made me pause.
That man was made in heaven.
“You should see how you look right now.”
I wiped the imaginary drool off my lips. “This cost over a thousand grand, did you use my card?”
“No, consider this my investment in your life.”
“I never asked you to do this, how do I delete my profile here?”
“And blow my money?”
I was about to respond when my phone dinged, it was a message from my supposed match.
Match: How should we make the jerk who hurt you pay?
Leo's pov.I had never been fond of weddings, because it had many people, noise and fake smiles.Today's wedding had all three and now, thanks to my little stunt, it had something else. Pure chaos.I glanced at Zariah, who was still staring at the ring on her finger as if she expected it to disappear. She looked beautiful, but I was not going to tell her that. It might come off as cheesy. Her wide brown eyes moved from the diamond to me, and I caught the exact moment she remembered she was supposed to be angry.I smiled as Zariah tried to put on an upset face, she looked even more beautiful when she was annoyed."You're enjoying yourself," she muttered."Trust me, you have no idea what level of enjoyment I'm on right now.""I hope you understand that I'm going to kill you."The fact that I found her threats cute, made me deepen my gaze on her eyes. "Will you at least let me enjoy our honeymoon first?"Her mouth hung open at how bold I was, making me laugh out in content. She was the
I stared at the man kneeling in front of me, wondering if I had somehow wandered into a dream.A very expensive, public dream because there was no way Leo Sanders was actually proposing to me.We had agreed on a simple arrangement—he would attend the wedding with me, pretend to be my boyfriend, and help me make my cheating ex regret the day he ever laid eyes on me.Now, the man was kneeling in front of hundreds of people, holding a diamond ring and asking me to marry him.“Say yes! Say yes! Say yes!” The guest started chanting, but my mom's voice was the loudest.I bent over and whispered to him. “What's the meaning of this?”"I'm only proposing to my girlfriend.""Your girlfriend?" I repeated under my breath. He smiled and somehow I found myself lost in it. "Would you prefer I call you my future wife?"I suddenly felt the urge to slap him and drag him to a corner and ask if he suffered a head injury on his way here, but neither option was available to me because everyone was watching
"Your brother?" I repeated before I could stop myself.Leo's arm remained around my waist, as he rested his fingers on the fabric of my green dress. "Something wrong, princess?" I stared at him like he was a lunatic. The man I had hired to accompany me to my ex-boyfriend's wedding had just turned out to be my ex's brother, yet he had the nerve to ask me if something was wrong."Leo," Savvy snapped, drawing our attention back to him. "I'm talking to you.""I can hear you." Leo's expression remained carefree. "You don't have to shout."A few guests exchanged glances, causing Savvy's frown to deepen. "What the hell are you doing here?""Attending a wedding. Do I need your permission to do that now?""Don't play games with me!"My hands reached for the champagne flutes but I almost choked when I heard Leo's comeback."Then stop asking ridiculous questions."Oh, this man is going to get me killed."Wait a minute." Ciara spoke, breaking the silence the two men were keeping. "Savvy, you kno
My hands were shaking as I held the phone close to my ears, still trying to process what Leo had just said."What do you mean something came up Leo?” My voice came out cracking in a way I hated."I know princess, I'm so sorry. Something very important came up and I can't help it."He ended the call before I could respond and for a minute, I was too stunned to react. I moved close to my window, just in time to see Savvy retreating to his car.“God, what was I expecting from a stranger?” I whispered under my breath as I fell to the floor.Thinking he might be pulling a prank on me, I called him back. Fifty times. It went straight to voicemail every single time.“This can't be happening,” I muttered to myself. It was only a few hours before the wedding and he canceled on me, so when Estelle called, panic was evident in my voice.“I hate this feeling.”“Whoa, whoa, slow down. What's wrong?” Estelle asked.“He's not coming.”She went quiet for sometime, before asking another question that
“What do I say now?” I showed the message.“Tell him how you feel about the wedding,” she responded without thinking. “He's being paid, so it's his job to make you satisfied now.”I bit my lower lip for two seconds, before letting it go. “Okay.”Estelle kept staring at me with curious eyes, as I continued texting my match on the site. He said his name was Leo and asked me to fill him in on what I wanted. My nosy friend had included that, I needed a man who was capable of making my ex feel like trash in my profile.“Leo seems very nice,” I blurted out.The crazy lady in the room with me, blinked fast as she drew closer. “Is that his name?”“Who else would I be talking about?” “You've gotten that sharp edge in your tone again, I missed that.”I stared at her and smiled. “Thank you for everything, Estelle. He agreed to do it.”“I'm so happy for you dear,” she said , before turning to her phone. “Go on, talk to your man.”“Haha! Funny, I'm sure that's not his position in my life.”“Yeah
