“You know this is against what your council is preaching,” Clavier said.

Stefano nodded. He knew the rules of the Council. The law of nature should never be disturbed no matter what it was. Stefano broke that law when he resurrected her from the dead. Though she wasn’t his Adeline, her face was enough for him to ease the burden of missing the woman he loved. For hundreds of years, he suppressed his feelings deep inside himself after her death.

“It’s going to cause an uproar,” Clavier continued on glancing to the second floor where Stefano’s stepmother’s bedroom used to be. “She won’t stay quiet, you know.”
