Chapter 14

Chapter 14: Hard To Control

Calgary took a sharp breath after we both settled on a fallen tree. We decided to take a walk to help me calm down, and to talk about what really happened in the past.

"Your Mom was a good friend of mine. After she lost the fight for the Luna position, she realized that Lawrence would be willing to risk his own life just to be with her." I saw his Adam's apple bobbed up and down. "She didn't want that to happen. She'd rather see him marry someone else than let him die because of his love for her."

I sniffed when my tears threatened to fall again. "So you helped Mom and Dad hide from him?"

He nodded. "When I found out what Lawrence was planning to do, I asked Calla's mother's help. She's a part she-wolf and a part witch that's why she was able to perform a cloaking spell. That's why even when your Mom and Lance stayed in Claivan for a couple months, Lawrence wasn't able to sense them. They just returned to Zenios when your Mom was about to give birth to you. Since then, Lawrence had never been the same anymore."

"You did that because you didn't want him to die, right?" I asked with a shaking voice. Go, I hate my tearducts right now.

"Yeah. We're good friends back then despite the huge difference between our age. He was like an older brother to me, that's why seeing him suffer was hard for me, too." He took in a deep breath. "Sorry about what my daughter did. I'm sure she didn't mean to inflict you pain. She, too, wasn't happy to inherit her mother's gift as a witch."

"It's alright. Whatever reason Calla had for doing it, I know it's not to hurt me. She's a sweet girl, and I bet she can lead your pack someday even without a male counterpart just like Alpha Quira."

He flashed a small smile. "I hope she will." Calgary stood up. "We'll investigate about what happened. I'll go see Quira so we can plan out what we're gonna do to get your parents' remains back. For now, stay here and look after Lawrence if you can. He will need to connect someone from his own pack to help him heal faster."

"What about those who are in Mayhem? Can't they come over especially the Luna?"

Calgary sighed. "That's the problem. Luhence and his mother went missing since the night Zenios was attacked."

I blinked, unable to respond to him. Why did I have a feeling that something wasn't right? If Luhence and his mother were taken by the hunters, why did they leave Alpha Lawrence behind? Yes, he was no longer our ruling Alpha, but he was still one of the strongest Alphas who ever ruled Nirvana.

"In case we're thinking the same thing, yes, we all conclude that Luhence and his mother runaway in the middle of the fight."

I stared at Calgary. Maybe if I heard him say that when I was still new in his territory, I would get mad at him again, but things were different now, as if a part of me was slowly starting to doubt Luhence's disappearance.

"I still don't wanna believe that they abandoned Zenios." I looked away. "Let's not jump into conclusions unless we have enough proof."

Calgary jerked his head. "I'm not in the mood to argue with you on this one."

He walked towards me. When he pushed my hair to one side so he could remove my collar, I looked up at him with confusion written in my eyes.

"Why did you remove it?"

"I have a feeling that you won't runaway anymore, considering that you won't be able to take back your parents' remains on your own." He put the collar inside his pocket. "But if you will start misbehaving again, I won't hesitate to make you wear it permanently."

I took a sharp breath then stood up. "Thanks. Now your girlfriend and I are even."

His inky brows almost met. "Who?"

I raised my brow as my eyes narrowed without me even realizing that I looked like a jealous girlfriend right now. "Lindsey? She bragged about being your next Luna."

Calgary shut his eyes as he took a sharp breath as if I hit the wrong nerve. "She's not my girlfriend."

"But do you fuck her when you're getting horny, hmm for her to have the audacity to go around threatening other she-wolves in Claivan?"

Now it was him who's narrowing his eyes at me. "Did the collar tame your bitchy side? Should I put it on again so you'd be nice to me?"

I scoffed before I glared at him. "Such an easy question to answer, but looks like boys will always dodge stuff like that when you're not willing to admit."

"Admit what, hmm? Should that be a question in the first place?" he asked in a low, almost seductive voice.

I gulped when I felt chills, and heat, all the way down my spine until it reached the sensitive flesh between my thighs.

Calgary clutched onto my hair, making me hold my breath as he drew his face close to my ear. "Stop sounding like a possessive mate. I got errands to take care of, but if you will keep on acting this way, I might cancel everything and fuck you all night." He took in a sharp breath as if he was having a hard time controlling himself. "I never bedded anyone since Calla was conceived. You have no idea how hard it is for me to keep myself from owning you here."

Good heavens, my knees almost gave up after Calgary let go of my hair. My chest rose and fell in a fast pace while I watched him walk back to the village. I didn't even notice the beads of sweat on my forehead. All I knew was that my sex was throbbing, begging for a good release.

I sighed. This wasn't good, an there's no one to take the blame for what I was feeling but my own heat.

Gosh, no one warned me about the hardest thing I would have to resist once Auror fully matures.

My own lust for my mate's touch...
