Chapter 19: Meeting His Wolf

After Lynel took Calla to Ahma's house, Calgary and I went out for a walk in the woods. I realized he would explain why his daughter called me 'Mommy', maybe he was thinking that I didn't like it at all.

As soon as we got deeper into the woods, I cleared my throat and looked at him. "It's the first time I heard Calla speak."

There was a glint of loneliness in his eyes when he met my gaze. "She stopped talking since her mother left us. She was barely four... and that was the worst night of my life not because I just lost my Luna, but because Calla's painful plea for her mother not to go was the last thing we heard from my daughter."

I swallowed when my chest felt a different kind of pain, as if Calgary was letting me feel how he felt the night his Luna left to be with someone else. Maybe if I was in his shoes, I wouldn't be able to handle the pain, and I know, even if Calgary wasn't telling me, what his Luna did left a scar in his heart. A fear that no matter how strong and powerful he might be, he would never be enough for someone whose heart belongs to someone else.

Is that the reason why he was so jealous of Luhence? Did he think that despite us being true mates, I would still choose Luhence someday?

"I'm sorry it happened to the both of you. Calla didn't deserve that... and neither did you." I took a silent breath as I dodged his gaze. "Maybe she had mistaken me as her Mom. She was young when your Luna left, and kids like her would have a hard time remembering faces. Even I would've forgotten how my Mom looked like if only I didn't resemble her a lot."

"Thank you for your understanding. I'll expain to Calla everything so she will stop calling you that way."

"You don't have to stop her at all. I know how it feels like to crave for someone you can call Mom, and I would love to hear Calla call me that way... if you will allow of course. Not that I'm insisting to replace your Luna in your lives."

I chewed my bottom lip as my cheeks turned red. Calgary, on the other hand, took a deep breath while he was staring at the large canopy of leaves way above our heads. "Why Luhence?" he suddenly asked.

I found myself going on a trip down memory lane until I reached the part of my past where I was at my lowest. The memory made my chest tighten, as if in my head, I was reliving everything again.

"When... my parents died, Alpha Lawrence gave me a choice. Either I would leave Zenios and be on my own, or I would stay as their slave. I chose the latter not because I was terrified to live alone. I stayed... because Zenios was the only home known to me." I forced a smile while his eyes remained watching my face. "Luhence was the only one in the pack who didn't let Alpha Lawrence's threats to stop him from showing me sympathy. We became good friends, and maybe, because he was the only friend I had since my parents died, we had mistaken our friendship as a mate bond."

He flashed a broken smile. "Calla's mother and I experienced the same. We were friends even before she won the selection night. We both thought that what we had would be enough, but as we grew older, we also grew apart until we could no longer look at each other the same way, as if we're seeing each other as a barrier that's stopping the both of us from experiencing what we truly wanted."

"And what do you really want, Cal?" I asked, almost a whisper.

His Adam's apple bobbed up and down as we both took a halt to face each other. "A family built with love as its foundation..."

There was no words that left our lips after I heard his answer. We just stared into each other's eyes for a few moments as if we were finally letting our bond draw us closer until it could no longer falter anymore.

I scanned his handsome face and wonder how could someone this good-looking be in a small village in the woods, destined to rule a pack of wolves when he could definitely own the outside world? Look at that strong jaw, narrow and pointy nose with a downturn tip, a pair of lips that looked so sexy even when he was cursing, and his eyes, those wild pair of green eyes with brown strands, I could be lost in his stares forever... and I finally admit that now.

His chest rose and fell for a moment. "I guess you must formally meet my wolf."

My eyes blinked and my heart banged loudly inside my chest when Auror started cheering in excitement. The anticipation thrumming through my veins even reached my eyes that when Calgary met my gaze, a ghost of a smile found its way to his rosy lips.

I turned around immediately when he removed his jacket and his white shirt. I even heard him let out a soft chuckle before he crossed the length between us. God, I had to hold my breath when his bare chest hit the back of my head, and when he lowered his face while he was holding me by my waist, my eyes finally turned gold because of Auror's excitement to meet Calgary's wolf.

"You don't have to look away when all of these would soon be yours," he uttered in a low, almost raspy voice. I shuddered when I felt his palm sliding to my stomach until he finally drew small circles on my belly button. My knees wobbled with all the heat I was feeling in every fiber in my body, and when I understood what he really wanted me to do, I swallowed the pool of saliva in my mouth before I began taking off my clothes.

Calgary watched me carefully as my clothes left my body one by one. I could smell his desire to come forward and touch me, but we knew that wouldn't be a good idea.

His eyes burned with lust as I stripped down my underwear before I went all fours, and as our eyes focused on each other, we slowly turned into our wolf forms together.

Calgary turned into a massive big black wolf. He was twice or even thrice my size, yet the moment Auror whimpered in fear, Calgary's wolf began licking the spot on Auror's neck that would soon have Calgary's mark.

I belong to him, to the great Alpha Calgary Grivence of Claivan Pack, and I now honor the bond I share with such powerful man...

Chapter 24: More Than EnoughMy body was sore all over because of the training but Calgary's presence helped me heal faster. When Hyrum's men came during dinner to inform us that help had finally arrived and the perimeters were safe, somehow, he felt a sense of relief even for a short while."Would you like some more soup?" I asked Calla while we sit on the table with Ahma, Lynel, Alpha Lawrence, and Calgary.Calla nodded happily. "Thank you, Mommy," she said before giving me a sweet smile.Calgary caressed his daughter's hair before he leaned to me. "We'll just talk about something in my office. Finish your food."I jerked my head in response. When he left with Lynel, Ahma, and Alpha Lawrence, I stood up carrying Calla's bowl to get her more soup, but Lindsey immediately followed me to the table where the caserole was.She crossed her arms and shot up a brow at me. "Getting so comfy playing the fake mommy and wife role, huh?"I rolled my eyes and shook my head. "Not now. I'm too tire

Chapter 23: A Taste of EuphoriaSomehow, the talk I had with Alpha Lawrence a few days ago, helped us communicate a little better. He no longer avoids me that much, and I could speak to him directly now without feeling aneasy.I took a series of deep breaths to center myself just like what Alpha Lawrence instructed me to do. He was circling around me, holding a silver knife and ready to attack me any moment now."Tracking is more than just following a scent nor listening to your surrounding. It's connecting to everything around you, being one with the ground, the wind, and every living thing that you can reach, but your gift has no use if you're too slow to dodge an attack," said Alpha Lawrence, an in a blink of an eye, we has already behind me, the knife was only half an inch away from my throat.Goodness, he was really fast. No wonder he was known for his combat skills. Now I wanted to think his Luna poisoned him on the night of the selection, because I know for sure that with his s

Chapter 22: A Painful TalkI didn't know if I was anxious because I would be training with Alpha Lawrence today or I was just worried because Calgary joined his Deltas last night to guard our territories. No matter how many times I rolled over my bed, I couldn't really bring myself to sleep. Maybe I was both anxious and worried, but despite the lack of sleep, I still got up before sunrise to prepare for my first day of training. When I went down to get myself some coffee to wake me up, Alpha Lawrence was already in the kitchen, making himself some brewed coffee. As if he realized that I was planning to get myself some, he cleared his throat and saved a cup for me.I pursed my lips as I walked the length towards the cupboard. My heart was going crazy with the silence enveloping us, and when I finally had the courage to glance his way, I spoke."G--Good morning, Alpha."He paused from taking a sip but he didn't look at me. "Just because we're in Claivan doesn't mean I'll be nice during

Chapter 21: Her Special Ability"Prudence just lost the last of their best trackers. All we have right now is Hyrum," said Calgary as we gathered at the pack house with Alpha Quira, her Beta, Ariz, Lynel, Alpha Lawrence and Ahma.My fingers clasped. The atmosphere around was too thick, probably because we all know that our District is in so much trouble.Mayhem had no trackers for two decades now while Claivan was never given any. Trackers are special types of wolves who can sense anything even when it was miles away. They were born with the strongest senses. Some show their abilities early like Mom, some were late bloomers.Zenios' tracker was my mother that's why even when she was only a Beta she-wolf back then, she would always work hand in hand with Alpha Lawrence because she was very significant to our pack.I saw Alpha Lawrence straightened his back. "If Nadine was able to sense Luhence while everybody else didn't, maybe that's because she inherited Nimpha's abilities."All eyes

Chapter 20: A Storm is ComingDried leaves whipped into the foggy air as Calgary and I ran faster through the woods. His wolf kept on challenging Auror, but with us finally gaining back our strength, she showed him we were their equal. Auror jumped over a fallen tree and rolled over the thick bed of dried vegetation before she gained her momentum again, but Calgary's wolf was fast enough to stop Auror from jumping over the cliff.Auror let out a whimper of affection as Calgary's wolf licked her face. She rubbed her head on his neck, gaining more power from the bond we share with our mate. We had been running for hours, but our hunger for freedom felt insatiable. Auror and I had never been permitted to roam around Nirvana this way, but with Calgary accompanying us, we knew we would be safe.Calgary's wolf howled, telling us to finally go back. I felt Auror's desire to ask for a little more time, but when thunders began roaring in the sky, she changed her mind and followed Calgary's wol
