Chapter 5
I could hear murmurs from somewhere. There were voices I couldn't recognize and I could tell by the way they were talking that they weren't happy with what they were discussing.
I even heard a few words that slowly awakened my spirit as if it had been dormant for a long time. Their conversation coincided with the heavy rain, while I tried to blink my still heavy eyelids.
Attack.
Fight.
Hunters.
Zenios.
Zenios ...
My pack. What happened to our pack? Where am I? Luhence? What happened?
I tried to open my eyes and scanned the whole place from the white-coated walls to every single object inside. None of it was familiar to me. Everything was foreign to me, including the scent that lingered inside the room.
This wasn't my home...
No matter how shitty my living situation was in Zenios, that was, without a doubt, the only home I had.
Where am I?
Starting to panic, I tried my best to pull myself up. I groaned when I felt the pain in every fiber in my body, as if I got slammed on the ground countless times for me to feel this way right now. When I felt the dryness of my throat, my eyes roamed around the room again until I spotted the pitcher of water on the bedside table.
Despite my hands feeling so weak, I did my best to lift the pitcher and poured myself some water. I was able to drink a little, until my hands finally failed to grip on the glass. It fell on the floor and shattered into pieces, stopping the people outside from talking about what happened to my pack.
Embarrassed by the mess I made, I was about to get on my knees to clean it up when I noticed the chain on my ankle that's connected to the bed. My face turned pale as fear began to thrum in every vein in my body; seeping in every fiber and sending me chills down my spine.
This can't be...
I swallowed. Wherever I may be right now, one thing is for sure.
I am not safe...
My eyes shut as I tried to remember the last thing that happened before I woke up here. I remember the hunters who attacked us. I remember getting shot. And then I remembered running away from the battlefield and falling somewhere far from Zenios Village.
And then, I saw him...
My blood drained from my face as my lips parted in fear.
"Calgary..." I uttered with a hint of horror in my voice.
As if I unconsciously summoned the beast nobody wanted to meet, the door swung open and the brutal and ruthless Alpha of the Claivan pack entered the room wearing his black shirt and faded jeans. His manly and intimidating brow cocked at me while his jaw was locked in a way nobody would wish to see.
Dangerous... was the only word I could use to define this man. I've heard tales about him, and no matter how strong I am, his presence could still scare the shit out of me.
"It's Alpha Calgary for you, pup," he said, his voice alone was enough to make me tremble in fear and... something else.
I unconsciously pressed my legs together, afraid he'd smell the scent of desire seeping through my sensitive flesh.
What the hell is going on with me?
Calgary paused. I shuddered in fear when he suddenly looked at me as if he sensed the brewing lust within me that I couldn't control nor explain. He then folded his strong arms in front of his chiseled chest as he scanned me from head to toe.
With a clenching jaw, he let out a sharp breath before he cleared his throat. "How was your week-long sleep, hmm? You seem too comfy in my bed..."
I blinked. "Your... bed?"
He didn't answer my question, as if he was studying me. His gaze made me chew my bottom lip as I stared back into his pools because, goodness, he reminded me of the ocean.
Dangerous when it's too calm...
When I couldn't handle his effect on me anymore, I finally looked away before I gathered the last of my strength to speak my mind. "I have to go home."
His thin lips stretched for a dangerous smirk that almost made my heart stop from beating. It wasn't easy to scare the shit out of me, but this man, it felt like even Auror would back down once she saw him, even in his human form.
"Who said you aren't home yet?" he asked in a calm way that made me tremble.
I swallowed the pool of my saliva in my mouth while I reminded myself that he's not my Alpha and I wasn't supposed to submit to him.
"I'm not dumb. This isn't Zenios, so this isn't home."
He whistled, and the moment Calgary laughed softly, the little hair on my nape stood at its end.
My heartbeat doubled when he took his steps towards me until he was finally towering over me while I sat on the edge of his bed. I almost shivered when he held me by my nape before he clutched my hair a little tighter. The expression on his face terrified me to the core, but when his gaze drifted towards my neck, I felt it.
His desire to bury his face on my neck and dig his canines in my skin to brand me as his...
I saw how his jaw clenched before he brought his gaze back into my eyes. "You got a filthy mouth, pup. You should consider yourself lucky," he said softly, but there was a hint of warning in his tone.
"W-Why? Because you saved me?"
He smirked as he tightened his hold onto my hair. "No, because I spared your life, pup."
I pursed my lips, getting irritated with the way he calls me pup, as if that was an insult.
"I didn't ask you anyway. I owe you nothing--"
I gasped and my eyes widened when he brought our faces closer, his eyes were now like a pair of blazing sun.
"Such a foul mouth for someone who came from a weak pack." He took a couple of steps backwards but his eyes remained gazing at me as if I was a prey he was about to attack in no time. "You better start behaving accordingly, pup. Trust me, you wouldn't want to get me angry."
He turned his back on me and was about to leave when I spoke. "Zenios is not weak. We just happened to have a better Alpha. An Alpha who rules his pack with mercy and compassion... The things I can clearly say that you lack."
As if I hit the wrong nerve, Calgary turned to me again with a smirk on his face. I fucking hate that smirk. It was like a silent warning that a storm was about to come my way.
"You think your Alpha leads his people the right way? You think those shits will matter in the real world? Well, then prove it, pup."
He removed the chain on my ankle before he towered over me like a confident beast.
"Run, pup." He bent down until his minty breath was already caressing my cheek. "Run as fast as you can, because you're gonna regret it once I fucking catch you..."
Chapter 6MAYBE it was out of fear that even when my body was sore all over, I was able to get on my feet to run. Calgary watched me as I weakly twisted the knob. He's obviously enjoying seeing me struggle just to get away from him, but the smirk on his handsome face made me eager to leave his territory.I gritted my teeth as I struggled to walk. With my hand on my wounded tummy, I dragged myself towards the stairs and tried to hurry. Calgary's footsteps echoed behind me, and the more he was getting closer towards me, the harder my heart banged inside my chest.I can't die here. Not in this forsaken place, not when I still hadn't earned my mother's pride in Zenios. Her face appeared in my head, and as I hurried down the stairs, all my hardships in Alpha Lawrence's hands came inside my mind. It gave me the motivation to jump down the stairs as I shifted into my wolf form. I landed on all fours, and before I ran outside, I glanced at Calgary who was standing on top of the staircase, loo
Chapter 7"Damn it!" I hissed as I tried to remove the chains on my ankles. That heartless son of a bitch really tied me up in his bedroom, leaving me with no choice but to sleep next to him or hurt my back by lying on the floor.I sighed as I gave up. Auror felt so tired inside me, and if it wasn't for my pride, I would've laid on Calgary's comfortable bed by now, but instead, I sat on the floor and rested my head against the wall. How long would he keep me here? He's been sleeping soundly for a couple days while I had no choice but to sleep while sitting on the floor. If this was his way of teaching me a lesson, I'd rather go back to Alpha Lawrence and let him hurt me all day long.Familiar steps began to echo outside the room. I watched the door swing open, and when Calgary saw me looking at him, he flashed his annoying smirk before he shut the door.I quenched my eyes at him as he walked towards the rod where my chain was linked. He then wore his leather gloves and removed the sil
Chapter 8I lifted my head when the door opened. As I had expected, it was Beta Lynel again who would attend to me. For some reason, Calgary had me transferred to another room and stopped seeing me. His Beta said he had himself locked up for several days, unable to control his own wolf. Something Calgary has never experienced before."Morning," Lynel greeted with a smile. He was, by far, the nicest member of the Claivan Pack. Whenever Lynel was taking me outside so I could heal faster by connecting to nature, most of their pack members would glare at me as if I had done something terrible to them. I just assumed that it was because I was from Zenios, and all of the packs in Nirvana; Zenios, Claivan, Prudence, and Mayhem, were in conflict because of something Calgary did in the past.I pulled myself up and followed him. "Your big bad Alpha still locking himself up?" I couldn't help but ask as we walked down the stairs."Nope." He looked at me with a slight smile. "He went to Mayhem to
Chapter 9Because of the collar Calgary gave me, I was finally free to move around the house, but I still can't go outside without supervision. I got bored in my room, so I decided to go downstairs and see what I could do while I was waiting for them to bring me dinner.I found an old piano down the hall. It was dusty and looked untouched for years. I sat on the chair and opened it before I started checking if it was still working. Good thing it was. When I was young, Mom would usually play piano for me. I even remember hearing her play in the middle of the night downstairs. When I tried to come see her once, I saw someone sitting on the couch, silently watching Mom as she played her favorite piece. Now that I'm grown up and I remember it, I realized that it was probably Alpha Lawrence. My chest hurts. Maybe Mom was deeply in love with him, too. That's why I often see her staring at Alpha with so much regret. Whenever she put me to sleep, she would always tell me how much of a good ma
Chapter 10My gaze drifted from the ceiling to the door of my room when it opened. Calla went in first while holding Calgary by his hand. She's even carrying her black furry cat as she smiled sweetly at me.Calgary touched his jaw, a little shy, probably because his daughter requested to see me. Calla didn't bother me anyway. She's a nice kid and I knew how it felt like to not have my mom around, so I pulled myself up and motioned my hand to call her. "Come here, Calla."She let go of her father's hand then walked towards me. Calla doesn't talk. I still didn't know why yet but I made a mental note to ask Lynel tomorrow. When I heard Calgary clear his throat, I looked at him and waited for him to speak."She wants to sleep here... with you."Calla stared at me as if she was begging me to say yes. I smiled back at her and tucked a few strands of her brown hair towards the back of her ear. "Of course, you can. It would be nice to have a roommate who's really sweet."Her innocent eyes gli
Chapter 11: His Painful ConclusionCalgary and I took the trail leading to Zenios. We were pretty much silent the whole trip, but when we were nearing the cemetery and we had a vision of the man who used to beat me up almost every single day, Calgary noticed that I began to feel uncomfortable."Are you sure you wanna talk to him? I heard he wasn't nice to you," he asked.I swallowed the pool of saliva in my mouth when I sensed the underlying concern in his tone. That was new, and I shouldn't have been affected by it, but Auror felt happy that Calgary wasn't that rude to me anymore."Yeah. I'm familiar with his ruthless side. It's not like I'd hide behind you if he'd throw me a deadly gaze." I inhaled a deep breath down into my stomach. "Let's just go."Calgary led the way until we reached Alpha Lawrence. He was sitting in front of my Mom's tomb, staring at the withered flowers lying on her grave while he was holding a half-way done bottle of whiskey. He didn't even bother looking at u
Chapter 12: Healing HimI refused to entertain Calgary's conclusion about me being Alpha Lawrence's daughter. My Dad loved me so much, and if Calgary was right, then that means I must hate Alpha Lawrence even more. They said parents could feel a connection with their kids. If he really was my real father, how come he beats me up with no remorse? Didn't he feel anything whenever he was hurting me? My chest tightened with the thought. I let out a heavy breath and decided to come see Calla instead so my mind would be busy. After leaving Calgary's house, I walked towards his grandmother's home where Calla usually stays when Calgary wasn't around. I heard he went with Alpha Quira to talk to the council. The council is consists of some elderly members who no longer stays with their original pack in Nirvana to prevent any bias decisions. Lynel said their grandmother was offered a seat in the council of Nirvana but she politely declined because she didn't want to leave Calgary and Lynel.
Chapter 13: A Glimpse in The PastEverything started to become awkward between me and Calgary since the day Auror healed him. I could no longer look him straight in the eyes, afraid he'd sense how hard it was getting for me to tame Auror in the past couple days. She's being stubborn and was begging to get close with Calgary's wolf, which I couldn't allow or else we might walk out of this place with Calgary's mark on my neck.I couldn't let that happen. I made promises with Luhence, built dreams with him. I had already given him my heart and there's no way that I would betray the man who had always been there for me, for someone I only knew for a few weeks."There you go?" I handed Calla the mirror. "See? You look pretty."Calla smiled after seeing her crown braid. She stood up and hugged me to probably thank me for fixing her hair. I kissed her on top of her head, and when the door opened, we both turned to look at Lynel."Hello there, princess Calla," he greeted with a smile before h
