Chapter 15

Chapter 15: Breathless

Alpha Lawrence was unconscious for a couple days. When he woke up, he immediately insisted to go back to my Mom's grave but Calgary told him that Mom's remains were already stolen.

My chest hurt when I saw how Alpha Lawrence fell on the floor with a defeated expression on his face. I knew this would be hard for him to accept, so before the so-called ruthless Alpha of Zenios began to lose control of his own emotions, I stepped outside the infirmary to save myself from more pain.

Calgary soon followed me outside while Ahma tried to console Alpha Lawrence. When I felt him nearing, I sniffed and immediately wiped the tears that built on the corners of my eyes.

"Why did you follow me? You should be with him."

Calgary sighed. "Nah. I won't make him feel better. The best I can do is to make sure we'll retrieve your mother's remains." He moistened his lower lip. "Come with me. I know something that might make you feel better."

I felt a different kind of warmth wrap around my heart when I realized how concerned he was for me. Ever since that day Calla gave me a glimpse of the past, Calgary had been nicer towards me. Yes, he was still dominant, but he was no longer the version of him that I first met.

We walked towards the stable, but when Lindsey saw us together, she charged towards our direction and folded her arms in front of her chest. "Alpha, I thought you're gonna meet me last night?"

I felt Auror losing her temper because of what Lindsey said, but I tried to control her as I balled my fists. There was no way I'd let Calgary see me getting jealous. Ha! I would rather die than get marked by him.

He glanced at me as if he was checking my reaction before he spoke. "I was busy last night. Maybe some other time."

Lindsey was left gritting her teeth when Calgary dragged me by my arm as he continued walking. When we reached the stable, Cal paused while he was holding the door. "That was nothing."

My brow shot up, and I hate that I couldn't control my own temper. "Did I even ask about it?"

He groaned in frustration. "Seriously, that bitchy side again? I'm trying to explain here. At least be a little nice."

My teeth gritted. "Like I said, did I ask about it? So what if you made plans with Lindsey last night? It's not like I'm not gonna talk to you if you came to see her--"

"I did not, alright?"

"That's because you were busy, but I bet if you didn't you'd probably in bed until noon with Lindsey."

Damn, now I sound like a jealous girlfriend. Why was I behaving this way again? Right. This man right here was the mate I refuse to acknowledge.

My eyes narrowed when I saw him purse his lips as if he was suppressing his laughter. I got more irritated so I ended up smacking his hard chest. "Nothing's funny!"

He let out a soft chuckle while he was shaking his head. I, on the other hand, was left stunned for a few moments because goodness! I had never seen such a beautiful man when he was showing off his perfect set of pearl white teeth.

And those reddish lips, why did it look so tender? Maybe I could have a little taste of it...

I snapped back to reality with reddened cheeks when Calgary pinched the tip of my nose. My eyes squinted at him as I gritted my teeth, but Calgary just smirked before he pushed the door open. "You can have more than a taste of my lips, but later. Now come on."

I blinked twice while my lips parted in surprise. Did I say that out loud?!

God, that was so embarrassing, but if I would leave now, then Calgary would just think that I was really being denial. There's nothing to deny, right? I wasn't into him at all. I mean, look at him? Who would like that epitome of a God?

Me.

I pursed my lips and shushed Auror when she suddenly answered my question. When Calgary stopped in front of one of the horses, my thoughts drifted away when I realized that it was Zoro.

My mood lightened up as I ran towards Luhence's horse. It looked excited to see me, too so when I gained Calgary's approval to bring him outside, I immediately unlocked the door and let him walk.

Calgary followed. He even helped me get on top of Zorro, but when he jumped up, too, my eyes slightly widened in surprise. "You're coming?"

His brow shot up. "What? You're gonna let me walk? Who's heartless now?"

I narrowed my gaze at him. When I sensed Lindsey peeking on us, I drew in a sharp breath before I faked a smile at Calgary. "Why don't you grab another horse and ride it with your girlfriend before she drags me by my hair back to my own village, hmm?"

Calgary smirked. To my surprise, he suddenly held me by my nape and crashed his lips onto mine in a deep and sultry way that made me lose my sense of time and space. I didn't even notice myself kissing him back with the same intensity until I was already running out of breath. God, the taste of euphoria was left in my mouth as I stared into his eyes, and the more we was touching the back of my ear with his thumb, the less control I was having over my own desire to feel his touch all over my body.

"You kissed me..." I swallowed the pool of saliva in my mouth. "Why?"

He licked his lower lip. "To prove that I am no one's boyfriend."

His hand went to my tummy. I gasped when he sudenly pulled me closer until I was already resting my back on his chest. My heart went wilder when he lowered his head to level on my ear as he whispered the words that almost left me breathless.

"The next time you will act bitchy towards me instead of communicating properly, I'll tie you in my bed for a week until you have my kiss marks all over you." His minty breath caressed my neck. "It's not easy to sate me, pup, so be nice..."
