Identities Revealed - Chapter Two

The Vanargand games, I thought to myself distantly as I observed the three males who stood before me.

The cluster of faces merged in a confusing mess and yet the only one that stood out was the man who drew my attention, I could taste his name on my lips without having to be told it, he was the king of the surrounding land with the atmosphere to prove it. His eyes held mine knowingly as he folded his arms across his broad chest, the thin fabric of his long sleeve shirt clung to his body and embraced the abs that his from under its confines. His silver hair embraced the nap of his neck with the loose strands curling at the ends, a blue tinge could be visible as the thick locks caught the light, he was a true god confine in the intoxicating body of an Alpha wolf.

Cian, I thought curiously as his name tasted delicious on my lips.

“Has the wolf come to catch its prey?” I asked as I connected to his mental psyche.

The silver-haired alpha arched his eyebrows curiously as the corner of his mouth twitched from amusement, I wanted to caress the corners of his mouth and trail my fingers along the curve of his lips. His clear blue eyes sparkled with curiosity as I seamlessly entered his mind, the connection that we shared only grew stronger from that moment as an invisible thread seemed to pull us together. Cian’s breath caught in his throat as a similar electric sensation awoke within his chest and surged throughout his body awakening an unknown feeling, it was something that both excited and terrified him.

“You can enter my mind without a mind link?” He asked curiously.

“I can enter the mind of anyone I choose,” I hesitantly replied.

My layered bangs fell over my face at that moment as my mother grabbed my forearm and jerked me forward violently, I barely glanced over at the women as her perfectly sculpted blonde hair lay in a French twist at the base of her head. Her blood-red nails dug uncomfortably into my porcelain skin as she pulled me towards the awaiting men, a growl of possession overwhelmed Cian as he witnessed the blatant aggression Elena was displaying towards her daughter.

“As stated in the contract, the one with the most kills will receive the Vanargand prize,” Elena stated as she shoved me towards the men.

“You consider her a prize?” One of the men asked as he winced at the offensive wording.

His sandy blonde hair appeared windblown in a messy blow out hairstyle, he brushed his fingers through the thick locks and tugged on the roots in frustration as he glanced at his Alpha as if asking permission to react accordingly. Cian shook his head slightly at his Beta as he barely met his frustrated gaze.

“Now is not the time, Quest,” Cian murmured to his Beta.

Quest, I thought curiously as I examined the attractive blonde-haired man.

Quest held his hands together at the base of his abdomen as he stood close to Cian, his posture was rigid as he stood on alert with his bodyweight standing slightly before his alpha in a protective stance. He was a loyal beast who shared an identical curiosity as his Alpha as he gazed at the figure that stood before him. A blush caressed my cheeks as I lifted my head slightly and rolled my shoulders back to straighten my posture, I could see how the men saw me in their eyes and the sight was astounding.

“As tradition dictates, the hunt will begin at dusk, there are no other rules in the Vanargand hunt, I wish you luck,” Levi stated simply before giving his wife a look telling her to release me.

Elena groaned from frustration as she reluctantly released my arm, her nails left behind angry red welts depicting the gruesome torture she had just put me through. I winced from the pain as I held my injured arm and instinctively stepped away from her and towards the inviting group of men who stood before me. Cian immediately wrapped me in his arms, his embrace was warm and welcoming as he pulled me into him, the room began to spin as his warmth embraced me, I wanted to sink against his chest and yet I was afraid of the punishment I would receive from my mother.

“Was that necessary?” Quest demanded angrily.

“You expect me to coddle her?” Elena asked with a sneer.

“Elena!” Levi snapped angrily.

Levi pressed his hand into the centre of Elena’s back and guided her away from us as he directed her towards the sitting room, a room that I had always been barred from. Cian placed his hand along the back of my head and pressed my head against his chest, his scent enveloped me as the musky fragrance had a hint of honey and lavender as it danced on my tongue and intoxicated my mind the more I focused on it.

“We cannot start a war,” Cian murmured under his breath so only his Beta could hear.

“But…” Quest said as he groaned from frustration.

Quest sighed from defeat as he turned away from the absurd woman who took pride in being my captor, I desperately wanted to be taken from the land that she ruled and away from her incriminating gaze. The third man finally caught my attention as he gazed at the retreating forms that made up my adoptive parents, his chiselled chin twitched from annoyance as he attempted to control the anger that was steadily building within his chest.

“Relax, Caius,” Cian ordered.

Caius tore his attention away and strode off with his heels digging into the ground aggressively, his auburn hair stood out against his pale skin as the base of his neck grew an angry red as he attempted to hide his anger. His broad shoulders tightened as he turned the corner and thrust his fist through the wall, his fist tore through the wall leaving a bloody mess along his knuckles as he drew his fist back.

This should be fun, I thought to myself distantly.
