Chapter 8

Lovette POV

The morning sun streams through the window, gently rousing me from my sleep. I remained motionless as I became aware of the sound of birds chirping outside.

I got out of bed and stood in the middle of the room, rubbing the last traces of sleep out of my eyes. I took a deep breath in the morning, feeling the energy of the day ahead of me.

I walked over to the sink and splashed cool water on my face, waking up the last remnants of sleepiness.

I made my way out of the bathroom, noticing that the morning sun had already started to warm up the day.

The aroma of breakfast cooking in the kitchen lured me out of bed. I made my way down the stairs, eager to start the day, and was greeted by the aroma of freshly made pancakes. I sat down at the table, eager to sample the food that had been prepared. I began to eat, feeling the warmth of the pancakes and the flavours of butter, syrup, and sugar in each bite.

The house was unexpectedly quiet. I was the only one at the table. Susan
