“Lauren, I can’t even pronounce her maiden name, was part of a well-known family in London,” Michel said as he scanned the laptop screen. “Wealthy fucking people.”

“You come from a wealthy family,” I pointed out.

“Not as wealthy,” Michel muttered, shifting on the bed. “Here’s a lot of photos taken of her with her family when she was around sixteen. A few with a boy that looks a few years older than her. An article states that she ran away from home when she was seventeen and disappeared. There’s nothing about her parents ever searching for her at all which is a little suspicious.”

I frowned.

I had first-hand experience on how shitty family could be. Michel’s parents weren’t any better. But weren’t they even a little worried about their daughter suddenly disappearing?

“What else?” I asked him as I exit the bathroom.

“Nothing that important.” He sighed. “Tell me again why I’m doing this.”
