I will not be like my mother.

I’ll be good for our baby.

I’ll love it and care for it.

It’ll have a family with two moms and two dads.

“Okay, let’s get a look at this baby.”

I gripped Tyrone’s hand tighter as the doctor squirted some cold gel onto my stomach. His eyes locked with mine when he raised my hand to his lips and pressed a kiss to my knuckles.

“Is this your first scan?”

Tyrone looked at the doctor. “Yes.”

“The baby is growing accordingly, and your weight is right on point.”

I flinched when the doctor pressed the wand to my stomach and spread the cold gel around.

“And there’s your baby.”

My eyes stayed glued to his face. I watched as his eyes widen and his lips slowly curl up into a smile. His hand tightened.

I didn’t want to look.
