Tricks

 Time ticked away and as the coldness settled deeper into our bones, the sound of chattering teeth could be heard, ringing out into the endless blackhole that conusmed us. I wanted to move closer to her, enclose her in my arms to try and keep the cold from pouring further in. Yet, I couldn't bring myself to move even an inch more, afraid that I would loose her completely if I told her the rest of the truth. The words tainting my tongue like a bitter taste that seered itself to my taste buds, leaving them sour and raw to the touch. Never in my life have I ever been so scared, frightened to the point that I would rather be thrown into a pit of lava and burned alived then speak the words I must. I didn't want to cause her any more pain.
