ARIA

The skin of my shoulders burned from the sun, a tight, pulsing heat that made the walk back into the house feel like stepping into a refrigerator. I didn't bother with a towel, leaving a trail of damp footprints across the bleached hardwood. My mind was a chaotic loop of Julian's silhouette in the window, the way he'd looked at me, not as a guest, not as Mika's friend, but as something he intended to consume.

The kitchen was silent, the air smelling of lemon polish and expensive espresso. I reached for a glass from the overhead cabinet, the glass clinking softly. I filled it from the fridge dispenser, the ice-cold water shocking my system, but it didn't extinguish the fire he'd lit from two stories up.

"Water doesn't usually cure that kind of thirst."

I jumped, the glass nearly slipping from my hand. Julian stood in the archway, his arms crossed over his chest. He'd changed into a crisp white linen shirt, the sleeves rolled up to reveal forearms corded with muscle and a heavy silver watch that glinted under the recessed lighting. He didn't move, but the space in the room seemed to shrink, the walls closing in until he was the only thing left to see.

I set the glass on the marble counter with a sharp thud and squared my shoulders.

"We need to talk."

He tilted his head, a ghost of a smirk playing on his lips. "I thought we were finished talking the moment the door clicked shut in that alley."

"That's exactly the point. Last night was a mistake."

Julian took a slow step forward, his footsteps silent on the tile. "A mistake. Is that what we're calling it? Because your breathing suggests a different classification."

I shifted my weight, my damp bikini clinging to my skin, making me feel naked under his gaze. "I don't want this to be awkward. I can't have this hanging over us while I'm staying here. If you're going to be... like this... I'll leave. I'll tell Mika I got a call from home or that I can't handle the beach. I'll find a reason."

He stopped a few feet away, the scent of cedar and something metallic, like rain on hot asphalt, filling my lungs.

"You'd leave your best friend's house because of a little tension?" he asked with a smirk on his face.

"She is my best friend. That actually means something. I'm not going to betray her for a one-night stand that happened because I was heartbroken and reckless." I whispered-shouted, aware that Mika’s still in the pool.

His eyes darkened, the grey turning to the color of a storm surge. He moved with a sudden, predatory speed, closing the gap between us before I could blink. He gripped my waist, his fingers digging into the soft flesh of my hips, and slammed me back against the cold marble of the counter.

I gasped, my breath hitching as the edge of the counter pressed into my lower back.

"Is that what you told yourself while you were screaming my name?"

"Stop it."

But he didn’t stop. "You're lying to yourself, Aria. You didn't feel reckless. You felt seen."

He leaned in, his lips hovering just inches from mine, his voice a low vibration that rattled my bones.

"Tell me you didn't enjoy the way I took you. Tell me you want to go back to that safe, beige life you had with the boy in San Diego."

I tried to push against his chest, but my hands felt weak, my fingers curling into the linen of his shirt.

"This is wrong. You're Mika's father." I tried to remind him but my voice sounded weak.

"I'm a man who knows exactly what you need." He said with dark eyes penetrating into my eyes.

His hand slid down from my hip, moving with agonizing slowness. He didn't go for my waist or my thigh. His palm flattened against the thin, wet fabric of my bikini bottom, his fingers grazing the sensitive heat of my pussy.

A jolt of electricity shot straight to my core, my legs instinctively parting. My head snapped back against the counter, a low moan escaping my throat despite my best efforts to stifle it. The logic I'd built, the loyalty to Mika, the memory of Josh, the fear of the fallout, evaporated in a single, searing touch.

"You're shaking again."

"I hate you," I whispered, though I was arching my back, pressing myself harder into his hand.

"Liar."

He didn't use his other hand to hold me; he kept it locked on the counter beside my head, pinning me in place. His fingers began to move, a rhythmic, expert pressure that hit every nerve ending with surgical precision. I forgot about the kitchen, the house, and the girl who had walked in here five minutes ago wanting to do the right thing. There was only the friction of the fabric, the heat of his palm, and the way he watched my face, savoring every flicker of pleasure.

I reached up, grabbing the back of his neck, pulling him down. I didn't want a conversation. I wanted the collision.

"Please," I whimpered.

He groaned, a guttural sound of victory, and shifted his grip, hooking a finger under the edge of the lycra to find the bare skin beneath. The contact was electric. I closed my eyes, my breath coming in jagged, shallow bursts. I could feel the climax building, a coil winding tighter and tighter in the base of my stomach, the world narrowing down to the point where his skin met mine.

I was seconds away. The tension was a physical weight, a scream trapped in my throat, my body trembling on the verge of a violent release.

And then, he stopped.

He pulled his hand away so abruptly it felt like he'd ripped a piece of me with him. I opened my eyes, gasping for air, my body still humming, vibrating with an unsatisfied hunger that felt like a physical ache.

Julian stepped back, his expression once again a mask of cool, detached indifference. He smoothed the front of his shirt, his eyes scanning my flushed face and trembling lips with a clinical curiosity.

"You're a mess, Aria." He said with a smirk on his face.

I stared at him, my chest heaving, the sudden void where his touch had been feeling like a wound. "What... Why did you stop?"

He didn't answer immediately. He walked toward the fridge, pouring himself a glass of water as if the last three minutes hadn't happened. He took a slow sip, his gaze fixed on some distant point in the room.

"I have a call with my firm in Tokyo. I can't be distracted by a girl who's still trying to decide if she's a good person or a hungry one."

I slid off the counter, my legs feeling like jelly. I felt exposed and humiliated, my body still screaming for the ending he'd stolen from me.

"I can't stay here," I rasped, my voice sounding wrecked.

Julian turned, his grey eyes locking onto mine. The ice was back, but beneath it, there was a flicker of something dark and possessive.

"You can stay."

I frowned, confused. "You just said—"

"I said you could stay. I'm here for the week, and I found the current arrangement... stimulating."

He set the glass down and began to walk out of the room, his pace steady and unhurried. As he reached the doorway, he paused, looking back over his shoulder.

"Just make sure you're a better liar when you're talking to Mika. Your skin is still flushing."

He disappeared down the hallway, the sound of his footsteps fading into the silence of the house. I stood alone in the kitchen, the cold water in my glass long forgotten, the salt air from the open window drifting in to sting my eyes. I looked at my hands, still shaking, and realized that the anchor I'd been searching for wasn't a safe harbor.

It was a storm, and I was already underwater.

JULIANI woke up to a cold spot on the sheets and a lingering scent of vanilla and sweat. She'd bolted. The cowardice was predictable. Aria wanted to play the bad girl in the dark, but the second the sun hit the walls, she wanted to crawl back into her shell of Montana modesty.I didn't mind. The chase was better when the prey thought it had escaped.I stared at the ceiling, thinking about the look on her face last night, that mixture of terror and desperation. She was just another notch, another body to fill the void. I'd had a dozen like her over the years. Beautiful, hungry, and convinced they were special. They always thought they were the one to crack the ice. They never realized the ice was the only thing keeping the whole structure from collapsing. My old man had taught me that. He and my mother were the crown jewels of the social circuit, perfect smiles, coordinated outfits, the kind of marriage people wrote poems about. Behind the closed doors of our estate, it was a war zone

  • Tempted By My Best Friend's Billionaire Father   Chapter 6: Surrender to You

ARIAThe mahogany desk bit into my thighs, but the pain was a distant hum compared to the roar of Julian's breath against my skin. He didn't break the kiss; he deepened it, his tongue claiming my mouth with a territorial hunger that left me gasping."My room."The words were a command, barely a whisper, vibrating against my lips.He didn't wait for an answer. He gripped my wrist, his fingers locking like a cuff, and hauled me away from the desk. I stumbled after him, my silk wrap trailing behind me like a discarded skin. We moved through the house in a blur of shadows and silence, the air thick with a tension that felt like a physical weight. Every time his hand brushed my back or guided me around a corner, a fresh jolt of electricity sparked through my core.He kicked open the door to his suite and pulled me inside, slamming it shut with a definitive thud that echoed through the hallway. The room was a mirror of the man, minimalist, cold, and impeccably curated. Grey slate floors, cha

ARIAThe beach club was a sanctuary of bleached wood and white linen, perched precariously on a cliff that overlooked the churning Pacific. It didn't have a sign; it didn't need one. The guests arrived in matte-black SUVs and sleek European coupes, sliding into cabanas that cost more per day than my father's monthly mortgage back in Montana.Mika lounged on a plush cream sofa, her sunglasses reflecting the blinding midday sun. She sipped a drink topped with a sprig of mint and a slice of dragon fruit."My dad basically owns the shoreline," Mika leaned back, her voice humming with a casual arrogance. "The club last night? This place? He doesn't just build the houses, Aria; he owns the ground they sit on. He's got an empire of glass and steel from here to New York."I traced the condensation on my glass, the cold moisture slick against my skin."I didn't realize he was that... expansive.""Expansive is one word for it," Mika chuckled, adjusting the strap of her bikini. "Control freak is

ARIAThe midday sun hammered down on the pool deck, turning the turquoise water into a shimmering mirror. I sprawled across a white lounge chair, the heat seeping through my bikini and baking my skin. A few yards away, the Pacific crashed against the shore in a rhythmic, guttural roar, sending a fine mist of salt into the air.Mika sat on the edge of the pool, her legs dangling in the water, kicking up small, crystalline splashes. She peered at me over the rim of her oversized sunglasses."You're still in your head. I can see the gears grinding from here."I shifted, the plastic of the lounger sticking to my thighs. "I'm just thinking.""Thinking is the enemy of a Malibu summer. Give it up. Tell me about the guy. Was he a ten? Did he have a boat? A secret penthouse? Give me something to work with."I closed my eyes, but the image of Julian, the grey eyes, the way he'd looked at me in the kitchen, burned through my eyelids."He was... complicated." I whispered."Complicated" is code fo

  • Tempted By My Best Friend's Billionaire Father   Chapter 2: Morning Secret

ARIAThe next morning arrived with a brutal brightness. The Malibu sun streamed through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the beach house, painting streaks of gold across the white linen sheets of the guest bed. I woke up feeling heavy, my muscles aching in a way that reminded me of exactly where I'd been the night before.I lay there for a moment, staring at the ceiling. The heartbreak wasn't gone. It was still there, a dull ache in the background, but the sharp, suffocating edge of it had blunted. The pact had worked. I had remembered how to feel something other than grief.I showered slowly, letting the hot water scrub the remnants of the club and the alley from my skin. I dressed in an oversized white t-shirt and a pair of denim shorts, my hair still damp and clinging to my neck.As I walked down the spiral staircase toward the kitchen, the smell of fresh coffee and sizzling bacon filled the air. I could hear Mika's voice, bright and energetic, echoing through the open floor plan."
