"I know you hate me, even though I don't understand your reason, but do you have to go this far?" Valen questioned him with confusion.

Maybe he could get to the root of this by indirectly making him spill something.

"If I have to go and serve the moon goddess and come back just to deal with you then I will happily do so. Have you ever heard the saying that the iniquity of the father will be visited upon the son and grandsons?"

Valen frowned, "No."

"Good. Your experience will help you become familiar with it." Iza sneered at him.

"So your hatred against me has to do with your fight with my father?"

Iza stared at her, refusing to acknowledge what she had just asked. He rubbed his nose and switched the topic of conversation.

"Get prepared for that fight, and let me tell you that there is nothing that you can do to get yourself out of this; that's final," Iza smirked and walked away from him.

Valen watched him get out of his sight and he didn't even realize how much tension he had held

"I know for a very fact that many of you have seen this face before." Aldridge beckoned to Valen to come over, who at first was stunned because he wasn't expecting the sudden attention on him. He dragged his feet to go meet Aldridge while trying to ignore the different gaze meanings that the men below were showering her with.He tried to stay and look tough."This is Valen. He came in with the last set. I am also aware that you all must have been wondering why he hasn't joined you yet and why he is with the King. This is because immediately after the three tests, some weeks ago, the King personally chose him to be his right-hand man. However, after much thought and knowing where this is going for you all, it's very important that Valen be tested on all strength levels in both forms. Ordinary and in transformation." Aldridge's voice was loud enough for all the men to hear. A few murmurings from all sides rose up but quickly died down as Aldridge's eyes landed on almost all of them.Aft

That night, the sky was quiet, and so was the Palace.Iza, who had been walking aimlessly around for some time, got to Valen's door and paused. He stared at the door, contemplating his choices, but slipped into the room unnoticed. It wasn't even locked."Such a fancy chamber for someone who is no more than a slave. I blame Aldridge for this disrespect."The dim light from the lantern on the desk illuminated a folded parchment resting at the edge of the table.Iza moved toward it with sharp curiosity, reaching out, and just then, the door creaked open. Valen entered."What are you doing in my room?" he asked, alarmed.Iza straightened, unbothered. "I was looking for you. Found something more interesting instead."Valen strode forward, snatching the letter from the table and tucking it into his coat."You have no right to be in here.""And you have no right to be acting like you're above everyone else," Iza snapped. " What do you even mean by that? I have been here long enough than you

The morning sun had barely risen when Rachel arrived back from her journey to the Dark Mountains. Her cloak was dusty from the long trek, and her lips were parched, but she had made it in one piece. At least almost was the right word for it.However, just before she reached the edge of the territory, she had noticed something odd. She could sense footsteps from behind her and when she looked above her shoulder without turning back fully, she saw the shadows. So she paused and turned around. They were two men whom she believed had to have been trailing her at a distance. They were dressed like common hunters, but far too focused to be wandering. They caught up to her just outside the border checkpoint."Halt," one of them said. "We need to check your belongings."Rachel arched an eyebrow. "Since when do strangers check the bags of traders? I'm only a woman who goes after fish.""We don't care, so quit talking. That's an order from above. We suspect some people might be smuggling things

Lucan stared at Valen's face and burst into laughter."You've done worse. Fighting a mere werewolf is just as easy as bread." Lucan replied, demonstrating by pressing the soft loaf in his hand. He tore it and threw it into his mouth, chewing and swallowing it before he continued."You are the next in line to your father, and you must have some training, so do a little more on it, and you'd be good to go.""You can't compare me, who is a novice, to someone who has been receiving training from a Lycanis for months or years now. You can just give me some tips and I will be fine." Valen sounded disappointed."Sure, I'll help you. What's my benefit as a friend if I don't? Whatever information I get from the camp regarding who your opponent will be, I'll let you know. I will also give you some tips as you've requested." Lucan gave Valen a gentle squeeze on his shoulder."Thank you. A friend in need is a friend indeed. You will also help me to practice. I haven't let my wolf out in weeks now

"You sent for me?" Valen asked as soon as he stepped into Aldridge's chamber. The latter turned around with a wooden cup in his hands which he took a few sips from before setting it aside. "Hmm"Valen stood still, expecting the reason. "The King has instructed me to get you ready for a fight. Are you aware of that?" He asked him. Valen blinked. He had just concluded and thanked the moon goddess, but it seemed the King had forgotten about it as he didn't mention it anymore. It's been a week yet he still..."I don't remember much, but yes, I do remember the king mentioning that I would be going for training," Valen said, trying to hide his frustration."It's important that you do so because, as the King's right-hand man, things are about to get tougher for you, so you have to be prepared. I am going to handle the event and it will be in two folds. Here is how it's going to happen."Aldridge moved to his desk and picked up a paper. His eyes ran through it before he folded it and kept
