Crissy’s Point of View
Waking up at three in the morning. I climb out of bed and made myself some coffee. Sitting outside on the porch. It was raining, and the smell of the earth was being cleansed by nature. I’m not used to being alone for so long; Thomas is always around the house. When I need company, I usually talk to him. Luckily, he will be returning home later today. Then I can finally show him the puppy. I decide to text Alexander.
I text Alexander, Hey, are you awake? Not even two minutes went by. My phone buzzes. It was Alexander.
Hey beautiful. Why are you up this early? The text reads.
I couldn’t sleep. I apologise for bothering you, and I know this might seem strange, but do you maybe want to come over for coffee? I text back.
The next minute my doorbell rings. I was a little startled because who would be out this early in the morning? I opened the door, and it was Alexander. I find this strange, he lives a mile away, and his car isn’t here, and I just sent the message a few seconds ago. It’s a fifteen-to-twenty-minute walk.
“How?” I stutter
“How did I come here so fast? I was out for my morning jog, and as I passed your house, you texted me.” He says with a smile on his face.
“Oh, okay, that makes sense.” Something was still off with what he had just told me. I didn’t overthink it.
“Come in, please.” I step aside for him to walk past me. “So, how do you drink your coffee?”
“Black with two sugars, please.” As he says this, he starts to scan my home.
“I see your people skills are improving.” I let out a giggle.
“I want to make you smile. You have a gorgeous smile, did you know that?” He walk closer to me. It made me feel uneasy for a few seconds.
I stutter before saying, “Thank you. Here’s your coffee.” As he takes the coffee from my hand, his hand touches mine. His hands are so soft and warm. It almost feels like home.
“Stunning place you have here. You have the best view of this town.” While he says this, he walks to the porch.
“Thank you. Yeah, when I saw this house, I just had to have it and fight off two other families, but I won.” I say it proudly.
He starts to laugh, it was the first time I had heard him laugh, and it was soft yet loud.
“So, I’m sorry that I ask you to come over. My brother is usually here to keep me company, but he’s at a friend’s house, and I don’t have many friends that will come over at three in the morning.” I stare into the abyss while saying this.
“No worries, I’m glad you texted me. Also, I already sorted out your car, if you were wondering.” He stretched out his arm and tucked a strand of my hair behind my ear. I smile at him.
“Thank you. Well, you probably should be getting home, you kind of stick. So, take a shower before I meet you for coffee.” I stand up and lead him to the door. I opened the door he steps out.
He grins. “I will see you later.” I closed the door, and I took a deep breath. He is sweet in his annoying way. The thought ran through my mind.
As soon as he left my house, I could feel a chill running down my entire body. I never thought anyone would ever make me feel like that. It was a strange feeling; I don’t know to explain it. What am I doing? I can’t think about him like that, but I feel drawn to him for some strange reason.
I got dressed, and I just put on some natural-looking makeup. Not too much; otherwise, he might think I’m trying too hard. Oh shit, the puppy. I think he will be fine. I won’t be gone too long. He needs to learn to be alone for a while.
I left the house and went to town to meet Alexander, as I arrive at Annie’s coffee shop. Alexander is already sitting there. I climb out of my car and walk toward him just before I sat down, the guy that introduced himself as Austin shows up.
“Good morning, Crissy.” He smiles at me. Just the way he says my name makes my knees weak. I couldn’t help but smile at him. I might have looked like an idiot at that moment.
“Alexander.” He says his name with some anger. “If you would excuse us for just a moment, please? I need a word with my brother.” He stares at Alexander as if he was about to strangle him.
“Of course, take your time,” I say, a bit scared. Finding my seat.
As they were talking, it seemed very intense. I then decide to walk over to them. My legs were shaking like crazy. Shit, I hope they can’t see it.
“I’m sorry to interrupt, but I think it’s best if I go home. It looks like you two have a lot to discuss.” I say, looking at both.
“I apologise, Crissy, but my brother should have wasted your time like time,” Austin explains.
“It’s okay, really. Alexander, I will see you another time. Goodbye, Austin. It was great seeing you again.” I say this with an awkward smile.
“Drive safe, Crissy.” Austin smiles as I turn around and start walking to my car.
Before I climb into my car, I felt someone grab me, and we fell to the floor. Then the next moment, I heard a loud crash. When I opened my eyes, I was staring right into Austin’s dark brown eyes; after a few seconds, I snap to reality.
“What the fuck was that?” I blare out and made my way to my feet. “My car.” I stare at my car and then the building. I couldn’t see where the big rock that landed on my car came from. I stare at Austin for a while. Then stare at the ground.
“Are you alright?” Austin starts to inspect me to check if I had any marks or bruises.
“I’m…” I start to stutter, and finally, the words came out. “I’m fine. Thank you for saving me.”
“It’s not a problem. I’m just glad you’re not hurt.” He gives me a sincere smile.
I just shake my head. “Can you please take me home?” I mumble to Austin.
Austin just nods his head, and we start walking to his car. I just glance at my car and climb into Austin’s car. As we drove home, I was still in shock at what had just happen. We just sat in silence the whole ride home. After the drive, we came to a stop. I just sat in Austin’s car for a few minutes. I look at him and start to inspect every piece: his nose, mouth, eyes. I took a big breath, and climb out.
“Thanks for the ride,” I say with sadness in my voice.
“It was my pleasure. Are you sure you are alright?” He asks, concerned.
“Yeah, I’m sure.” As I turn around about to walk to my house. Austin spoke.
“Here’s my number if you would ever like to talk, and I will try and sort the things out with your car.” He passes me a piece of paper.
“No, no, it’s okay. I will handle it.” I took the paper with his number on it.
“I insist.” He says convincingly.
“Thanks. I’ll talk to you later.” While saying this, I hold the piece of paper in the air.
“Go get some rest, please.”
I nod as I turn to walk towards the house; Austin screams, “Goodbye, Crissy.” I just smile and went inside my house. Why do I get these chills when he speaks to me? The way he says my name, it just… Why does he make me feel this way? I hardly know him. At that moment of the incident, it was like I felt safe and at home.
Not long after I got home, Jimmy’s mom dropped off Thomas. Thomas runs inside with his bag; he then rushes to give me a big hug.
“How was your visit to Jimmy’s?” I ask, putting on a fake smile.
“It was awesome! We stayed up late playing video games. We just had the most fun.” He says with excitement.
“That’s amazing. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Oh, I got you a surprise.”
“Really, what is it?” He says with curiosity.
I called the little puppy, and it jumped out of his bed and ran to Thomas.
“A puppy?” He freaks out once seeing him. “Where did you get him?”
“I found him wandering the streets, and I know how much you always wanted a dog.” I couldn’t stop smiling. Seeing him so happy made my heart glow. “He still needs a name.”
“Thank you, Crissy! His name will be Max. Can I take him upstairs?”
“Sure, remember he is still a puppy and needs to be trained,” I say with concern.
“I will take good care of him, I promise.” While saying this, Thomas runs upstairs with Max.
My heart just jumps with joy, knowing Thomas was happy. Time for bed. After everything that had happened, I’m glad Thomas didn’t notice my car wasn’t in the driveway.
Crissy’s Point of ViewWhile lying in bed, I keep on thinking about what had happened yesterday. Taking a shower didn’t clear my head as I wanted it to. Deciding to take a walk through in the forest. Knowing I wouldn’t get lost; I knew these woods from the back of my hand. Usually when I wanted to get out of the house, I would take a walk. Having my usual routine of going to work then waiting for Thomas to finish his after school activities. I needed a break from it. I got dressed and went into the woods.I have a beautiful spot I always go to. A beautiful dam, with a small waterfall. You are able to see the entire town from there. About two miles from my house. It doesn’t sound far, but if you are unfit, it can get excusing. When I got to my favourite spot, I found a spot to sit and staring out over our little town, and there was a little barrier. This is the only spot in the woods, excluding my house, where you can see the entire town. The water was still, only the sound of the wate
Austin’s Point of ViewI can’t stop thinking about her as I’m lying in my bed. Her smile, the way she stares at me with those brown eyes. I need to get to know her. I need to know what coffee she likes, how she wakes up in the morning, and what her sleepy voice sounds like. She is different from all the other women I have met over my entire existence.Every woman I’ve met was either prim and proper. They had to wear the newest fashions. Needed to keep track of all the latest trends. Other were too bitchy. Trying to take control over my life and the rest was just too soft. Saying sorry about every little, tiny thing. Dropping their lipstick “sorry.” Accidently bumping me “sorry.” But Mia, she is just something else.Doesn’t take shit from anyone. If you are in the wrong, she makes sure you know it. She isn’t afraid to show you that she cares about you. She is just real.My favorite part of her is how pure she is and the scent that she has. Just the thought of her scent being mine. Gett
Crissy’s Point of ViewWe return home, after the long day of school, Thomas put his bag down he runs to his room. He plays online games with his friends and is usually glued to his computer screen. Usually, I let him enjoy his weekend by playing his games. Over the course of the weekend his spends most of his day in his room. We don’t really go anywhere, the reason for this is because I don’t know where to go.Placing my handbag and keys on the counter, walking towards the fridge. Taking out a piece of steak. Letting it defrost in the microwave. Waiting patiently. Making my way towards the backdoor, staring at the birds. I placed a birdfeeder in the middle of the yard two weeks after I moved in here. The birds seem to love it.The wonderful sound of whistling makes me smile. The sound of the microwave makes me jump. Snapping back into reality. Taking out a pan, pouring oil into it. The sizzling echoed through the kitchen. I turn the meat in the pan; my eye catches the image that Micha
Crissy’s Point of View I woke up feeling tired, like I hadn’t slept well in days. It might be the fact that I did go to sleep after twelve. Why do I torture myself like this? I jump out of bed and realising I smell as if I had just rummaged through a trash bin. Grows. I quickly jump into the shower; I went downstairs to make breakfast. Grabbing the eggs and the bread out of the fridge. Taking out the bacon from the freezer. Throwing the bacon into the microwave and turning it on defrost. Placing the bread into the toaster and Starting with the eggs. The microwave rings and the sizzling of the oil in the pans sounds through the house. The entire house smelt like bacon. While busy making breakfast, I cut my finger while cutting the cheese. Shit! I quickly look for a band-aid. At least it isn’t that deep that I need stitches. Opening drawer after drawer. I couldn’t remember where I had placed it. Little spots of blood drips onto the floor. “Thomas, breakfast is ready!” I screamed fro
Michael’s Point of View Standing stunned as Crissy storms out. I fell back into my chair. My mouth hanging open. Staring towards the door. My heart wants to climb out of my chest to run after her. Asking for forgiveness. But I couldn’t get myself to move. My mouth hanging open. Alexander’s voice broke the deafening silence. “What did you do?” Alexander asks, confused. “She is extremely pissed. You much have fucked up really bad.” Laughter let his mouth. While he makes his way to the bar to pour himself a whiskey. “I…” The words didn’t want to come out of my mouth. Leaning forwards and staring at the ground. “You fucked up completely. That’s what you did.” Alexander’s laughter got louder. Pissing me off. Jumping up in rage and grabbing Alexander by the throat. “Shut the fuck up, or I will rip your heart out.” Alexander starts to giggle. “Is this funny to you? We will see how funny it is when you are in your grave.” My grip getting tighter. Making him gasp for air. The next moment
Crissy’s Point of ViewWhile I was lying in bed, just the thought of him treating me like that. Correct me if I’m wrong, but no one deserves that kind of treatment. My experience with men has always ended up in disasters. One cheats, and the other horrifyingly mistreats me. Why do I always want to be friends with these types of people? Or even end up dating them. What I did had to be done. I’m tired of always being walked over. I was tired of never standing up for myself, not getting what I truly deserve. Fuck him; as I told him, he’s a dick. I deserve better.I probably need to get up and start breakfast. I can’t let Thomas go hungry just because I’m in a shitty mood. Making my way to my feet and walking over to the bathroom. Opening the shower so that the water can start to heat up. Staring at myself in the mirror. My eyes were a little bit puffy from the night I can’t sleep well. Jumping into the shower. I stood there for a few minutes trying to gather all my thoughts. After my sho
Crissy’s Point of View (In Her Dreams) While driving home from university for summer break. The view of the forest when going home was terrific. I turn the music on loud. My favorite song came on; It’s my life by Bon Jovi. While dancing in the car, a deer runs in front of my car. I almost didn’t miss it. I pull off to the side of the road. My breathing was loud, and my anxiety kicking in. I grab my handbag and take my medication to calm myself down. Climbing out to get some air. Pacing back and forth waiting for the medication to do its work. Finally, it starts to work, I could breathe normally again. Fuck, that was a close call. Crissy do not mention this to mom. She might kill me. Climbing back into the car, driving in silence the entire ride home. Arriving home, my phone buzzes, and my mom’s name pops on the screen. Answering the call. Trying to keep my tone normal. Hoping my mom doesn’t notice anything different. “Hey, mom,” I say excitedly. “Hello, nugget. Are you home yet?”
Crissy’s Point of View My day starting late. Almost around eleven. Throwing in a few cloths into the washing machine. I quickly made breakfast. Thomas quickly eats his food and rushes back off to his room. Shaking my head the washing machine goes off. Taking it out and placing it into the tumble dryer. Deciding to making myself a cup of coffee and to read my book outside on the porch. While I was sitting outside on the porch, I was reading Wolf of the Past by A.D. McLain. There fell a tiny rock on the timber floors. Startling by the sound. Grabbing my chest. Taking big breaths. Calming myself down. I commence with scanning in which direction it might have emanated from. I let loose a sigh. “Seriously, don’t you have better things to do?” I yell making my way to my feet. Walking towards the railing. “Get a move on and go bother someone else with your sappy stories.” “I do apologize, love, but I had to get your attention somehow. Without anyone aurally perceiving. However, it seems
