I tightened my grip around my lower abdomen as another vicious cramp ripped through me. Curling into a ball on the bed, I squeezed my eyes shut, my heart hammering wildly against my ribs while each ragged breath caught painfully in my throat.
At first, I dismissed it as another wave of anxiety.
Then the pain worsened.
It twisted deep inside my abdomen, tightening until I could barely breathe. A broken whimper escaped my lips as cold sweat gathered on my forehead.
With the little strength I had left, I forced myself off the bed.
My knees buckled the moment my feet touched the floor. I collapsed onto the cold marble, my stomach scraping against the unforgiving surface as I dragged myself toward the bedroom door. Every inch felt like a mile, my trembling fingers clawing helplessly at the polished floor.
"Ronan..." I whispered, my voice barely audible.
Panic clawed at my chest. Where was he?
He was nowhere to be found.
Were we really going to lose our child... like this?
A sob lodged in my throat. I bit the inside of my cheek until the metallic taste of blood flooded my mouth, but it did nothing to stop the tears streaming down my face. My vision blurred as another violent cramp seized my body, forcing a cry from my lips.
My gaze dropped to my legs, and a sharp scream escaped my throat.
"Blood!"
My eyes widened in horror as my heartbeat thundered in my ears.
Please, not my baby... Ronan would never forgive himself.
I tried to steady my breathing, but the lump in my throat refused to budge.
My trembling fingers curled around the doorknob and twisted it. The door opened with a loud screech, and I crawled out. A wave of cold air rushed over me.
I tried to scramble up from the cold floor. A sharp pain pierced my abdomen, and my knees buckled.
My legs quivered, unable to support my weight.
Blood stained the marble beneath me, along the path I had crawled.
"Ronan," I called one last time, but there was no response. My vision blurred. I had lost too much blood. Every passing second made my body feel heavier, and I didn't even know if I'd survive this.
If I wanted to survive, I had to keep moving.
I shut my eyes tightly as hot tears slid down my cheeks, but I wasn't going to let it stop me.
I held the doorknob for support and stood up. Although I was on the verge of collapsing, I didn't give in. The hallway was deathly quiet. All I could hear was my racing heartbeat.
Lydia, my personal maid, must have been sleeping. I couldn't wake her up.
But where the fuck was Ronan??
Like a child learning to walk, I forced one trembling step forward. My foot slipped on the blood smeared across the marble.
One step...Then another...And another...
Until I regained a little of my strength.
I barely took a second step when I heard a sound. At first, I thought my ears were playing tricks on me, but I ignored it and limped forward, one hand clutching my abdomen.
But the sound became more persistent. With each step I took, I felt myself drawing closer to it, and I halted.
The sound led me to the last room I ever wanted to approach. Enya's.
My eyebrows furrowed slightly. What was she doing in there? I strained my ears and caught the sound of her giggling. At this time of night?
My face hardened as I stood at her doorway.
My hand curled around the doorknob, and I pushed it so hard that it slammed against the wall. What I saw drained every ounce of life from my body.
Ronan and my sister were intimate in the same bed, pounding her as she spread her legs wider for him, thrusting with the strength he had never used on me before.
"Ohh fuck, yes deeper… you are so fucking good," her moan filled the room like a melody, legs wrapped around him like a protective shield.
"Ohh moon goddess, Zenaya don't even come close to you." He groan shamelessly, his head buried in her neck, she chuckled, the smug smile making my stomach churn.
I stood rooted to the spot. The little strength I had left gave out, and my legs gave out beneath me. I collapsed on the floor.
My body went rigid, as though I'd forgotten how to breathe.
I parted my lips to speak, but I couldn't find any words. They didn't notice I was here...
My hand slowly found its way to my stomach, gripping my abdomen. I'd just lost our child... and my mate was in bed with my sister.
"Ronan!" I screamed with the last strength left in me, and they turned to look at me, their expressions unreadable.
What??
They pulled away from each other, and Ronan climbed out of bed and grabbed the robe draped over the couch.
Enya wore a smug smile that made my stomach churn.
I always knew she was a slut who hated me, but I never expected it to be this bad.
"Do you want to wake everyone up? Why did you scream like that?" His jaw tightened, and his gaze turned icy.
It felt like I didn't even recognize the man I'd spent the last seven years with.
I scoffed bitterly, holding back the tears that were threatening to spill.
"We just lost our child, Ronan. I just had a miscarriage, and you are sleeping with my sister?" I tried so hard to sound stable, but my voice came out shaky.
His eyes lazily darted to my legs, which were now soaked in blood, and he scoffed.
His expression darkened.
"I don't care about that thing in your womb," he replied without a hint of remorse.
The words echoed in my mind. I opened my mouth to respond, but nothing came out.
"It's good you came here to see this yourself because I can't keep hiding it." His voice hardened as he
turned to Enya. His expression softened as he looked at her.
"Zenaya, there's something you need to know."
Ronan has a twin brother? How come I never knew? How was that even possible? My stomach dropped. All these years, he'd kept me in the dark. According to everything he'd told me, he was an only child.A bitter scoff escaped my lips. That dog, Ronan. Maybe he betrayed his own brother too.Rumors had always spread through the pack, calling him the devil in disguise, but I'd never believed them. I had been a fool, blinded by the illusion of his love.If only I could turn back time... I'd drive a dagger straight through his eyes. They think they've won? No.This game is only just beginning.I'm going to make them pay. I'll drag their names through the mud until they have nothing left.Snap! The sharp snap of fingers yanked me from my thoughts. My gaze lifted to meet a pair of striking emerald-green eyes staring back at me with chilling indifference. His cold gaze sent an involuntary shiver crawling down my spine."I'm asking you a question, Zenaya."His deep voice echoed through the room, h
I knew that voice. It wasn't the voice of someone with good intentions. I'd traveled through countless packs delivering herbs and letters. I'd crossed paths with rogues before—fought them, been wounded by them, even killed them. That was the voice of a rogue werewolf... or a trafficker.Without looking back, I bolted into the forest. It gave chase.A hungry growl echoed behind me, eager for the hunt. My instincts were correct.A ROGUE WEREWOLF.I bolted deeper into the woods, ignoring the leaves that lashed against my skin. My feet pounded the rain-soaked earth, sending muddy water splashing up my legs. The ground was slippery, but I didn't care."You can't run from me, cupcake. Tough human." The rogue's sarcastic voice rang out behind me, growling. My eyes widened. He was so close. Why wasn't I moving as fast as I expected?A werewolf could easily cover over a hundred kilometers without breaking a sweat. I'd barely made it ten before my legs screamed in protest. So this... this was w
Immediately those words left his lips, I felt it—the burning agony, the pain of rejection. It started from my chest, then slowly traveled to my stomach. A scream tore through my throat, my heart hammered against my ribs, and I thought it'd explode. My nails scraped against the marble. Each breath felt like shards of glass slicing through my lungs.Dark veins crawled beneath my skin. The black veins crawled up my arms and down my legs until something inside me shattered. The bond! But all this wasn't important to me at the moment, not until I felt it—my wolf slowly detaching from me. I stretched out my hands for her to come back to me, to stay with me, but she stopped, turned slowly towards me, and vanished into the air."Noooooo!" I screamed, and all the pain I had felt was gone, replaced with emptiness.I had lost my child, lost my wolf, and also lost my mate!"Awww, so pitiful. She had lost her child and also her wolf. Poor sister, you lost everything in one night," Enya's high-pitc
In all my life, I have never believed that Ronan, who has shown me endless affection, would stab me in the chest—not just with anyone, but with my sister, whom he claimed to hate! The sister I shouldn't have pitied when her mate threw her out of his pack seven years ago.I should have known. Whenever I tried to throw her out for her deceitful acts, Ronan always told me to have pity on her. How come I didn't see all this? How come I didn't notice their affair? It felt like a slap to my face. The shock had drained every ounce of life left in my body. As much as I tried to fight back the tears, I couldn't.I sniffed, my eyes locked on Ronan, whose eyes glared at me with disgust."Zenaya, you shouldn't have found out this way, but you chose to have a miscarriage of all days and interrupted us," he said steadily, his expression as hard as a rock.My breath caught.Wow... so my pregnancy didn't even matter to him? He didn't even care! And he's saying this? What changed? When I announced I w
