Blue's POV
Shadow Pack. I stared at Luca, hoping I'd have the balls to actually break this whole situation with him after what was supposedly a break up sex in my head. “Luca.” I called out, and he turned his face from where he was dressing. “Hmm?” He muttered, turning his whole body to see as he was buttoning his clothes. The sight of his abs made me thirsty, and his broad chest even made it worse. I drooled over every single part of his body, unable to take my eyes off him. “What is it?” He asked, setting his brown eyes on me. That was another reason I was obsessed with him apart from the insanely good sex. “It's over between us.” I said, and he scoffed, putting on his cufflinks. “It's not that easy.” He cast a quick glance at me, and his face showed how less of me he thought. “Why would you even do that?” “Because you don't care about me?” I snapped. “You don't speak to me unless I speak to you? I leave you tons of messages and you never reply to any of them? I'm constantly begging for the barest minimum?” “Relax Blue.” Luca made a move to touch me, but I moved backwards, because if he was successful with that touch, I'd be several steps off my mind. “Luca, this is the end, and there's nothing you can do about it.” I said, sincerely hoping it'd change like the last five times I had done something this drastic. Five times I had broken up with him, and five times I lost my self respect by begging him to take me back. “Blue, we're both Alphas, and you know how demanding it can be.” Luca said, probably trying to plead his case while getting dressed. This was the hardest he had ever tried. Oh yeah, I'm an Alpha. The Alpha. “Not to rub it in your face or anything, but I do run the strongest pack in the whole of New York, and I still have the time to triple text your non chalant ass!” I snapped at him. “Okay, relax.” Luca said, alresdy fully dressed, looking pretty hot as always. “How about you calm down and let us have a discussion about this over dinner?” “This is exactly why we're breaking up.” I hissed at him. “You're fine with letting this anger boil in me till night.” “I'm sorry, Blue, but I have work to do.” Luca said, waking towards the door. “Well, have fun, because we're done.” I said, and he didn't say a word back to me. He walked out of the room, and I could hear him walk out of the pack house. It was already hard enough begging him for us to merge packs and be married. It hurt that I was only strong and ruthless with the werewolves in and out of my pack, and I was helpless with Luca. Maybe that's how I want to be. I had barely finished dressing up when Ashley's scent filled my nostrils. She didn't have to knock the door before walking in. “Hey lovely?” Ashley giggled, walking inside to hug me. “Ashley West, my favorite female, and my one and only pumpkin.” I smiled, carrying her as she jumped at me. We kissed as was the usual greeting. Kylie, my beta was always weirded out by those kisses. “So, I saw the almighty Alpha of the Riven pack just walk out your doors, and I just hope it went the exact way we planned it.” Ashley said, and I smiled. She was the one that planned this whole break up thing. “Yes, of course. “ I rolled my eyes. “I'm sure he's expecting me to be over at his pack house by night begging him to take me back.” “For him to have you on such chokehold, I really need to see how large he is down there. You are so dickmatized.” Ashley said, and we laughed. “Now, all that's left is for you to find his replacement. At least, till he regains his mind and comes back begging for you to take his miserable entity.” Ashley giggled. “Thank you for your help as always. I'll try my best to get someone quickly.” I said, sitting down as she helped me put on the ear rings. “The pleasure is always mine, but I also want to see my brother suffer and beg for you.” She laughed wickedly, and I could only giggle. Kylie knocked at the door, and I took a deep breath, ready to leave the pleading part of me in the room. “What is it?” I asked. “It's time, Alpha. We have to leave, that's if you're ready.” Kylie said. “I am. Get the car ready.” I said, picking up my bag. “Do you want to know why I'm so in love with you?” Ashley asked like she hadn't told me a million times. “You're so powerful, and you lead men, and yet, you manage to bask in your feminity.” “Take care love, I'll see you when I get back.” I winked at her, and she giggled. I walked out of the room, and Kylie bowed, leading the way to the car. Everyone in the pack stopped what they were doing, and walked over to bow to their Alpha. I never instill fear into them, I guess it's just reverence that comes with the heights I've achieved. I waved them off and walked into the car. Kylie got in with me, and we drove off, having no company. “Erm… Ruins?” Kylie called. “I'm all ears.” “The distributor is already at the exchange point, and he's waiting for us.” “Isn't that where we're headed?” “I just wanted to fill you in.” He said, and I gave a dismissive nod. We arrived at the restaurant not long after, and I was on my way in. I wasn't looking up because I was checking my wrist watch when I bumped into someone. He didn't let me fall, as he caught me barely staggering, and then his scent filled my nostrils so strong that I could not deny it. His blue eyes especially caught my eyes, and his dark disheveled hair, followed by the incredibly hot face he had. I might have found the one thing I had given up on, and maybe my solution to Luca's problem in one. “Mate!” I growled silently. “Erm… I'm very sorry.” He said with a very calm voice, helping me dust off the little coffee spills on my body. 11:13… I met my second chance mate at 11:13.Maverick's POV I stood in front of my mirror in the room. Liam and Chloe stood by the door with their arms folded. I could already see the tears welling up in Chloe's eyes, but there was really nothing I could do about it. I turned to look at them, and I smiled.“You don't really have to go, you know?” Chloe begged.“I have to.” I responded gently, pulling her in for a hug. She cried in my arms, holding me very tightly. “Who knows? I might come back home safely.” I shrugged, caressing her hair. It didn't make her feel any better, rather she just cried the more in my arms. I couldn't bear to see her cry, so I pulled back from the hug. “Regardless of whatever happens, we have a plan, and we'll stick to it.” I said, holding her hand. “It might just work out fine.” “Where did this sudden optimism emanate from?” Liam asked, and I chuckled, looking at him with a shrug. “You can still run away, you know?” Chloe suggested.“Nah, that'll just make me look guilty.” I pushed the idea out
Maverick's POV It was the eve of my last day in court. The day that would determine my life from here on, and I was spending it with Chloe and Liam. Blue was nice enough not to ask for it since we had spent the past week together. Despite the fake news that rolled out everyday from several blogs and stations, we moved from gala to gala, from party to party, from my dorm to her house, and we had fun in every place possible. We sat under the night sky, somewhere in the woods, just enjoying the night air. I wasn't convinced about getting free of this. In fact, I was hoping that it'd just blow over, and they'd forget about me. Having my life under scrutiny and in danger by people who believe that I killed someone I don't even know was something I wasn't interested in facing. “Maverick.” Chloe called, and I turned my face to look at her.“Huh?” I asked, trying to enjoy what could be my last night in the world. “No matter what happens tomorrow, we'll always be here for you.” She assure
Blue's POV When I woke up, Maverick was no longer by my side. I could not see any of his belongings, so I knew he had left. I sighed, thinking deeply about how well he had gotten to me. I wasn't thinking straight anymore. I just have to save him in any way possible. I caused this whole mess, and it has somehow spiralled out of control. But how else did I expect it to play out? That he'll just be set free. I was plagued by several guilty thoughts when the door opened and Maverick walked in with a tray. I was shocked.“I thought you had left.” I groaned, sitting up as he walked towards me.“Can't leave you when I've not fed you physical food.” Maverick muttered, gently placing the tray on my lap. There was bread, tea, croissants, and butter. “There was no one downstairs, and I had the whole kitchen to myself, so I made you something to eat.” Maverick muttered. “Thank you baby.” I muttered, leaning in. He met me halfway, and we kissed. He took one croissant, and went to pack his ba
Maverick's POV The ride home was very quiet on my part. I just sat in the car, staring outside the window. It happened suddenly, but I couldn't say I was shocked. There was no way I expected them not to try anything to get me down in jail by all means. One of the other wolves was in my car and was bringing it back to the pack house. We left in numbers so no one would be able to attack us. Allison kept checking in on me through the rearview mirror, and I'd always smile every time. This was the longest drive we've had back to the pack house.Blue on the other hand was receiving calls, and kept on debunking everything they had to say about me.“C'mon, don't tell me that you're too stupid to see that that's AI, it'd break my heart.” She said to one.“Do better, you really don't think that one stab to the chest would have done that to Billy. Not even a silver knife can do that to an Alpha of his rank, and why the fuck was he just standing and watching?” When we arrived at the pack hous
Blue's POV Luca was the one blowing up my phone with calls. I could only hope that Maverick didn't see who was constantly calling me. I could already guess why Luca was calling me. Afterall, I had just told his investor friend to go to hell.“Allison, reduce the volume of the music.” I said, calling Luca. He picked up the call before it could even ring. “Blue, I've been trying to reach you.” He muttered over the phone. “Yeah. I saw that.” I said nonchalantly. “Why's that?” “I wanted to apologize about how things went the last time.” Luca said, and I frowned, definitely not expecting him to even talk about that. “Okay?”“Look, I'm really sorry.” Luca said, sighing. “I know that I've gone wrong in several ways, and I can't begin to atone for each of them one by one…” There was a short pause before he continued speaking. “But, I'll apologize for them every day of my life till my last if I have to.” He said, and I chuckled. “It's okay, Luca.” I whispered. “I didn't know that tha
Maverick's POV It was easier to see Blue's baby bump now. Her stomach grew bigger by the minute. I thought she'd use a surrogate since her duties as Alpha might be so important to her, but she shocked me. She was still in my embrace, and I kept patting her head. I had just finished with Tiffany, and the plan might just be solid, although it was all dependent on luck and chance. “Why do you think my life's in danger?” I asked calmly, disengaging from the hug. “Richard… my brother…. He's trying to get revenge.” Blue shrugged. “I thought he was headed here.” Her phone was blowing up, but she kept ending the calls. At some point, I was worried that she'd slam the phone in my face. “I'm just happy to see that you're not in danger.” She whispered, holding my arms. I scoffed at her words.“I'm always in danger. You just don't know it.” I said, holding her waist. She hugged me again, and I hugged her back. I might just be the definition of everything I never thought I'd be. I could not
