LOGINAuthor note: Good day my lovely and wonderful readers. Thank you all for loving and supporting this book. Please I would like to draw your attention to something. This particular chapter is supposed to come before the previous one titled :The Burden Of The Chosen One.Please kindly read this first and go back to read the other chapter again for clarity. Once again am sorry for the mistake and the inconvenience and time it might cause you all 🙏.Olivia POV “Go show Selena the broken fragment,” I commanded. “Find out if she recognizes it or knows anything about it that we can look into,” I added. Karl nodded, but before he could leave, I continued speaking. Something told me that understanding where the fragment came from, or learning more about the runes on the coffin that bound Baalzelbul, might be the key to defeating him. And this time, sealing him again might not be enough. It might not even be the right solution. Perhaps silencing him forever would be the best option
Olivia POV I remained silent for a moment, allowing his words to settle. He wasn’t wrong. On the contrary he was very right and accurate in his judgment- my actions were a bit impulsive.I couldn’t help but feel like he’s beginning to sound like Alpha Kingsley. I hadn’t completed my training. I hadn’t mastered the final stage of the Sacred Moon Art, and I still had so much to learn about my bloodline. But did that mean I should sit back and wait until I was strong enough while the enemy continued to grow more powerful? How much time did I even have? “If Alpha Kingsley hadn’t stepped in on time, who knows what could have happened?” Karl continued, his voice strained. “You could have…” He stopped abruptly, unable to finish his sentence. I knew what he wanted to say. I could have died. I could have been killed by Baalzelbul before I ever got the chance to understand my powers or complete my training. I could have left everyone behind. And the thought terrified him m
Olivia POV The confession was abrupt and sudden- the words escaped before I could stop them. Karl turned towards me. “I spent years trying to move on from him. I told myself I didn’t need him, that whatever happened between us was over.I told myself and him that the old Olivia was dead and gone. That she died the day he stood and watch her dragged away like a criminal.I told myself that I died in that cliff and the Olivia standing here was only another version fate gave a second chance. And now, after everything, he sacrifices himself for me, and I’m supposed to do what? Forget him? Pretend it doesn’t matter?” My voice cracked a bit. I looked away before he could see the tears gathering in my eyes. “He hurt me, Karl. “He really hurt me.”He made me feel as though I was never enough. I can’t simply erase that because he finally did something right.”“I ……” “You don’t have to” Karl interrupted my talking. I blinked. Karl’s voice remained steady. “His sacrifice does
Olivia POV I rubbed my forehead, feeling the beginning of a headache. The threat hasn’t been resolved fully but only delayed and might bite harder next time. “Did you find anything else?” I asked. Karl remained quiet for a moment and then he reached into his pocket and brought out a small piece of dark metal. My eyes narrowed immediately. “What is that?” “We found it near the remains of the chamber. It was partially buried beneath the rubble” He replied placing it on the stone between us. At first glance, it looked like a broken fragment of an ancient chain. Its surface was blackened, and several thin lines ran across it. But the markings engraved into the metal caught my attention immediately. I leaned closer for a better look and my heart skipped a beat. Those markings. I knew them. Not from the Moon Temple’s ordinary records or the scrolls Selena had shown me during my training. I had seen them somewhere else -Somewhere I could never forget even if I wanted
Olivia POV “Are you planning to sit here until the sun goes down?” Karl’s voice broke through my thoughts. I didn’t turn around immediately. Instead, I watched the ripples spreading across the pond, following the movement of the little fish swimming beneath the surface. One fish was chasing another as they both ran around in the waters like the way some of the temple kids chase after each other putting dirt on each other. “Would that be a problem?” I replied after a while. “Not at all.” He paused. “Provided you don’t intend to catch a cold and make grandma healer spend another seven days nursing you back to health.” A faint smile tugged at my lips despite myself. “Grandma healer would be very thrilled then. She seems to have a special interest in me being sick.” “I’m touched by your concern anyway.” “Don’t flatter yourself. I’m concerned about the trouble you’ll cause if you fall sick again.” I turned my head and looked at him finally. Karl stood a few steps aw
Olivia POV I came out of the room hours later, after Amelia left to get some fresh air in the garden. I learnt from her that I had been unconscious for seven days. No wonder my whole body felt so stiff. Getting out of bed, I could feel exhaustion ingrained in my bones. It was as though I had been crushed beneath a mountain. I had never felt this weak in my entire life. I wore a loose robe before leaving for the gardens at the back of the Moon Temple. It was a secluded spot and the perfect place for relaxation. Whenever I needed to clear my head or escape the restlessness of Amelia and the demanding duties of the Lady of the Moon Temple, I would normally come here. There was a small spring-water fountain in one corner of the garden. Its clear water flowed through the yard, supplying the flower beds and the surrounding vegetation. The chirping of birds filled the air as they flew around, occasionally perching on the flowers. Insects fluttered among the plants, carefully avoiding
