Chapter Six - MINE

Allona’s POV:

As I was flung back, I imagined different kinds of scenarios as my poor self crashed to the ground. I felt myself instinctively anticipating the pain from the fall but was surprised to feel soft furs under me instead of a battered hard ground.

It was a strong wolf's body that made me feel instantly safe somehow. His back was plastered to the ground while I slammed myself on his stomach.

‘It must have hurt a lot.’ I cringed at the thought.

'I don’t smell any scent from this wolf, why is that?' I wondered.

As a healer, I am more keen to everyone’s unique scent. How could an unknown wolf mingled in our Pack’s hunt without anyone noticing? Though I don’t feel any malice coming from him, I still need to be cautious.

“Ugh!”

I struggled to sit up as the world spins around me. I think I knocked my right knee on some hard bone, somewhere. And I guess, I just knew where that “somewhere,” came from, I thought guiltily.

‘‘Did I hurt him? Who is he?’ I stopped struggling then and just laid back down comfortably. I opened one eye and looked sneakingly at the wolf in front of me, then pretended to scratch my eyes in embarrassment when I caught him observing me at the corner of his eye. Pretending that I did not notice anything, I laid down again, back to this warm comfort, just for a few more seconds, just until the world stopped spinning.

“What warm soft fur.” I sighed, as I clenched a fistful of it and closed my eyes dreamily. The pain from my knee slowly ebbing away and my swirling world back to being steady. I can feel Rufina luxuriating at the feel of his fur too, and that’s a surprise coming from my emotionless wolf. I chuckled.

‘Wait, what am I doing?’

I raised my head again and came face to face with a scowling face of a black wolf with the bluest eyes I have ever seen. I think I have never seen him before, as I scanned my memories for any powerful black wolf with the bluest eyes that I might have missed, just in case he is one of my pack members I failed to notice. But, I don’t think so though.

“Hi!” I smiled at him.

I sensed his displeasure but for what’s the cause of it, how the heck would I know? ‘I think I hurt him with my fall and that caused him to be grumpy?’

‘Why save me if he is acting like this?’ I thought nastily. ‘I mean, I’m grateful but I did not ask him to do this. A couple of bruises here and there, will not kill me easily.’

I can see his dangerous, sharp canines glittering ominously under the moonlight and my fingers started twitching. I have this sudden urge to touch it.

‘I'm going crazy!’

‘Are you all right?’ I hear him asking grudgingly through mind-linking.

‘Wow, I’m surprised.’

‘How can he mind-linked with me just like that, when he is not even a pack member?’ I was curious, but what a beautiful voice. It helplessly sent shivers down my spine. I don’t like this feeling, none at all, but I remember his voice, though. So, it was him who tried to alert me earlier, that's why his voice sounded familiar.

‘I can feel my wolf stirring with his presence. Rufina-my baby, seems to be very aware of this huge, black wolf. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? I hope this is not what I think it is. Well, probably not.’ As I reasoned with myself.

‘This huge wolf seems to blend in smoothly with our pack. Even our best warriors had no inkling that an unknown wolf was able to penetrate us.. This is dangerous, but for some reason, I don't want to tell my pack about him lest he find himself in trouble. I have this inexplicable urge to protect him, but even so, if he is a spy or something I will not hesitate to kill him myself.’

‘Are you all right?’ I heard him asking me again suspiciously.

‘Yes, I think so.’ I answered back, while my hand was still unconsciously caressing his fur.

Then, I noticed that his body was trembling under me. ‘Don’t tell me this is the start of an epileptic seizure?’ I thought worriedly.

Two of my pack members experienced that a month ago. It’s a new thing that our pack experienced and based on my research, that causes many things from genetic epilepsy, nutritional imbalances, to infectious diseases.

I feel guilty because he took my fall after all, and that may trigger a relapse of a genetic illness or something? I can heal him but he is not one of us, what should I do?’ My parents warned me not to expose my healing ability to just anyone. And I offended my parents so many times already that I swore I would not give them additional things to worry about.

‘What a headache.’

I touched his muzzle in a comforting gesture and rubbed the fur behind his ears. That causes him to tremble more.

‘What the heck? Are you okay, Blackie?’

The tremor under me suddenly stopped and the air around us seemed heavy and suffocating somehow. I also instinctively stopped whatever my fingers were unconsciously doing with his fur, as my body felt suddenly cold, warning me of an imminent danger.

‘I’m not a dog.’ He “barked” angrily through mind-link.

‘Uupps, sorry, my bad.’ I covered my mouth with my hand as I realized my mistake. “That was thoughtless of me.’ I pat his head again to calm him down as I often do with Ronnie and George.

‘You’re not a dog, you’re a wolf.’ I confirmed with him consolingly. Did I appease him? Uh-oh, with the look on his eyes, I probably exasperate him more?

‘Well, if you’re okay now, can you climb off me please?’ As I heard him from the mind-link.

Lucian’s POV:

‘Great, I was able to protect my mate from crashing to the ground. Good thing that she bumped her knee against my shin bone instead.’

With a tap of my energy, I covered her sense of presence covertly so no one would find us. Let me be alone with her just for a few minutes.

As relief pounded my beating heart that she’s safe, I was shocked to realize that my she-wolf has no intention of getting up. She’s literally sprawled all over me. I’m not complaining, but hey, I’m supposed to be a stranger wolf to her!

I can feel her touching my fur comfortably.

‘I'm getting pretty livid. As much as I enjoy the sensation, how can she do that to an unknown wolf? I am sure that I hid my scent so there’s no way for her to know that I am her mate.’

Feeling both betrayal and pleasure from her touch, I can’t help but growl.

“Hi.”

I tried staring at her aggressively to scare her, but upon hearing that beautiful voice and one look at that endearing smile, I knew I'm a goner. I’m simply mesmerized. I can feel my heart beating extra fast and the pull of mates as I am helplessly drawn to her. But more than that, there’s something with her beguiling smile that tug at my heart.

‘What baloney is this?’

I don’t believe that I’ll be dissuaded by the pull of mates before but she attracts me, mate or no mate. Well, she’s the first she-wolf that captures my attention certainly.

‘But I’m a stranger to her, how can she smile at me like that?’

I hardened my heart and tried to impose a scary demeanor again. I’m the mighty Alpha King, and many shudders with fear just hearing my name, much more of my presence. How can she not be scared of me? But, I’m glad she’s not.

‘I can feel her soft hands touching me all over again. With a sudden bolt of pleasure, I can feel my body trembling with an uncontrollable flame of desire for this unsuspecting she-wolf. With a powerful resolve I did not know I had, I snuff out this wild yearning. This is not the right time for this.

I could see her worried expression, and with difficulty, I closed my eyes to shut her out completely. I can feel her touching me once again, and with her touch I feel the adrenaline rush to every pore of my being, engulfing me thirsty rapture and unquenchable desire.

‘This heaven and hell.’ I shuddered.

“What the heck? Are you okay, Blackie?”

‘...’

My world froze as I stiffened..

A great way to dampen my uncontrollable excitement, but did I hear her right? Did she call me a dog, this Alpha King? My disbelieving eyes wild with exasperation with this unbelievable she-wolf.

‘I’m not a dog.’ I told her annoyingly.

‘Uupps, I’m sorry, my bad.’

I can see her remorseful face turned red with embarrassment, and with it my angry resolve crumbling down. ‘Well, she’s so cute and she’s mine.’ But, I need to be stern.

‘Well, if you’re okay now, can you climb off me please?’ I said gruffly.

She seemed taken aback by what I'd said. She probably just realized she’s still stuck to me quite intimately as I watched her face flushed redder.

Then, I suddenly sensed a presence I found distracting - leaking of misery, jealousy and heartache. I saw a huge gray wolf  sprinting towards us. In an instant, my eyes shot killing waves to this unwelcome trespasser, as I looked menacingly at him.

I drew a small pattern on the ground to stop any noise from reaching my mate. With this pup’s violent and desperate reaction, he seemed to be coveting what’s MINE..

‘Kneel!’

I saw him halt a few meters away from us. I leaked a bit of my alpha presence to this pup. I felt him resisting my dominance and I smiled.

‘Interesting.’

I can feel his futile attempt to resist and as I looked at this trespasser in the corner of my eye, I frowned.

‘Why are this bastard’s eyes like this, like he was abandoned by the world?’
