LXIII. Crimson

What was once green is now crimson red.

I am heartbroken. I hoped this would work.

"Have patience. It needs time for the change to take place," Nix says to me.

But I feel defeated. I want to get in a fetal position and cry until I pass out.

"I will be going. I will watch with great curiosity to see what will happen to the young wolf. Until we meet again, my knight."

"Thank you, my Goddess."

And the Goddess Nix disappears.

We sit in silence and look at Vladimir. At the first sign of movement, Vlad rushes over to Vladimir and pins him to the altar.

"Grab him! We have to make sure he never leaves the altar until the change takes place."

I grab his legs and pin him, but he trashes and growls. My mom grabs him by his shoulders. As the seconds pass, Vladimir screams and sounds like a person who is in great pain.

"What's happening to Vladimir?" I ask, scared. "He sounds like he is in great pain."

"The transformation is always painful," Vlad says.
