LOGINLisa's POV
Werewolves?
Those hideous creatures.
Those creatures that see us, humans beneath them. The Mayor of Oxford said we could coexist as equals but everyone knows quite well that it was just a blatant lie.
Hell no. Carrying a child for one of them is like a death sentence. And not just an ordinary werewolf—it was an Alpha. A fucking Alpha.
I have read too many books about them to know their power hierarchy. I know that the Alpha is like the highest level of authority, just like a president.
And not just any Alpha. It was Alpha. Ronan. Stormrider.
The name rang through my mind like a lightning strike. Everyone in Oxford knew who Ronan was—feared, cold, untouchable Alpha. But this? His sperm? Inside me?
At the age of ten, I watched my parents being ripped apart by them and that was the reason why I had to grow up in the orphanage. For years, I was traumatised by the horrific scene and had managed to avoid them..... until now.
Dr. Marlow's hands on my hand brought me back from my reverie. "Are you okay?" She asked, her voice laced with genuine concern.
I didn't answer her. I couldn't answer. I could only stare at her for a long moment as I tried so hard to find my voice. "How.... did it happen?" I finally asked, my voice trembling slightly.
"He had his samples stored here for medical reasons but there was a tagging error during the thawing process and we only realised the mistake this morning," she explained.
I swallowed hard, my voice barely audible. “Is this even legal?”
“We’re already launching an internal investigation. You are, of course, free to take legal actions against the hospital… but you must decide if you would still want to keep the baby or simply go for an abortion."
"Abortion," I repeated, pressing my sweaty palms together as I remembered the surgeon warning over a month ago. "I can't have an abortion. I had a severe complication last month and the doctor told me that i would lose my life if I have any abortion."
"Oh......" She pressed her lips together. "I guess you'd be keeping it then." She let out a tired groan. "Even Alpha Ronan won't take it easy with the hospital."
I let out a deep sigh as frustration and confusion swirled inside me. This wasn't my plan at all. My plan was to have a child of my own, away from any man's knowledge, raise her peacefully but now......
"I'm so sorry, Miss Lisa," she said gently, squeezing my hands reassuringly from across the table. You can—" Before she could finish her statement, her office door swung open.
A tall man dressed in black suit stepped inside and I didn't miss the way the doctor's face was drained of colour immediately. She stood up abruptly, tensed and trembling slightly. "Beta Damon......"
Then another man stepped into the doorway. He was the finest man I have ever seen in my entire life. He had a chiseled jawline, piercing silver eyes, tousled dark hair, and he had an aura that sucked the air from the room. His black Tom Ford suit screamed wealth and power.
His silver eyes landed on me briefly—it seems like it was piercing into my very soul and for a moment I forgot how to breathe, how to think. I quickly looked away.
He took off his eyes, his focus now on Dr. Marlow.
"Alpha Ronan....." She managed, forcing a smile.
Oh... He's Alpha Ronan. The one whose child is growing inside me. No wonder she was so terrified. I haven't seen him before but I have heard about him and how he destroyed anyone who crosses him.
He shut the door behind him and stepped inside just a few steps away, his presence towering over me as I sat down twisting my fingers nervously.
"I came here for a checkup," he began, his voice cold yet melodic. "But I can smell my pup around." he shoved his hands deep in his pocket and then stared down at me. "Is she the surrogate?"
Pup. That means he could smell his child and I shouldn't be surprised given that werewolves are known for their heightened smell sense.
Dr. Marlow didn't reply immediately.
"Dr. Marlow?"
"Yes.... No, no," she stammered. "I'm afraid she is not the surrogate, Alpha Ronan," she said, her voice surprisingly steady.
"Then who is she?" He asked sharply. "And why is she carrying my child?"
Dr. Marlow offered him a seat, which he reluctantly took and began explaining everything to him. I was quiet all through, my mind spinning.
"Unbelievable." He slammed his fists on the desk, standing abruptly. "How can you make such a reckless mistake?" He groaned, and I saw the way his silver eyes turned dark with anger, sending a chill through my spine.
The tension in the room was palpable. "Damon, get my lawyers on board. I'm suing this hospital."
"Right away, Alpha," Damon replied, walking outside immediately.
"Alpha....." Dr Marlow started but soon stopped talking. She looked really scared, tears forming at the corners of her eyes and I knew I had to interfere.
I breathe in and out, trying to calm.my nerves before speaking. "Alpha Ronan," I said quietly, "I'm Lisa and I think we should talk about this amicably."
"Amicably? How, Miss Lisa? I'd like to hear your suggestions."
I didn't respond because I haven't really thought about a solution either.
He continued. "The only thing you can do for me now is to get an abortion done."
My eyes snapped up at him for the first time ever. "Abortion?" My stomach twisted. "Why?"
"Because I'm not going to have a child growing up without my care," he snapped. I want to raise my heir. A child who will take my throne.”
I was amazed at where my courage came from. I stood up, facing him squarely. "Well... sorry to disappoint you, Alpha Ronan. I won't be getting an abortion, so I suggest you come up with something else."
The silence in the room was almost deafening.
Then a smirk spread across his face. He sat back, crossing his legs. "Then we get married, human. I needed a wife anyways. How about a contract marriage until the child is born?"
{Ronan’s POV}The morning of our coronation felt like the dawn of a new day. All our enemies were defeated. All the ghosts of our past gone. The road ahead was clear for the first time in ages…I had barely gotten used to the new power that came with being King of Alphas. And the weight of the crown I had yet to wear pressed against me all the same. I stood before the mirror, adjusting the collar of my suit, my reflection staring back with a gaze that was just as elated.“Stop fighting with it,” Lisa’s voice drifted from behind me. She crossed the room with an ease that made the nerves in my gut calm, at least for a moment. She reached up and tugged at my tie, her fingers deft where mine had been clumsy. “You’re about to be crowned Alpha King and you’re losing to a strip of fabric.”I caught her wrist, kissed her knuckles, then leaned down to claim her lips. For a breath, everything went still, the scent of her grounding me, her presence reminding me that none of this meant anything w
{Ronan’s POV}‘That's going to be tough.’ I pondered, sitting in my study with the curtains drawn, the fire low in the hearth. The silence should have been calming, it should have made deciding easy… but it didn’t.I could not stop seeing Damon’s face. That look when I had stripped him of his title. Hurt, yes, but worse was the acceptance in his eyes, as if he believed he deserved it.The memory gnawed at me. I pushed back from the desk and stood, restless. My hands curled on the edge of the table, then I swept everything to the ground in one violent motion. Papers scattered, glass shattered, ink bled across the carpet. None of it lightened the heaviness in my chest.I had loved Damon like a brother. He had stood at my side through battles, guarded my back time and time again, and yet he had betrayed me in the worst way. He had let Lucien strike me, had watched while I was one upped time and time again. No matter his reasoning, I could not forgive that. And still, he had been the one
{Lisa’s POV}“There’s only one thing I want to do…” I replied. “I want to know all of it. Every single thing that was kept from me.”I let out a shaky breath. “No more secrets.”I sat back in the chair, still reeling from the photograph of the wolves and the baby cradled between them. My fingers trembled where they rested on the edge of Mistress Arlena’s desk. For years I had carried the certainty that I was human, that I was different from all the creatures who had torn apart my life. And now, with only a few words and a faded picture, I realised my history was far more than that.My story began long before Bryan and Selena's betrayal.Mistress Arlena leaned back in her chair, her face as unreadable as ever. “You may not like what you hear.”“That’s fine… It’s worse not knowing.”Her gaze held mine for a long time, then she gave a short nod. “Very well.”I swallowed, steadying myself. “Am I the only one left from Saint Crest?”A flicker passed over her face, so faint I might have ima
{Lisa’s POV}Yesterday had been tedious, filled with revelations that twisted even in my sleep like nightmare fuel. Despite Ronan’s warmth beside me, the words from Calista clung to me.“Saint Crest wolves…” A cursed bloodline. No before all that… "I am a werewolf.”It felt weird on so many levels. It was a mind-boggling idea through and through. My wolf was locked inside me all these years. My parents had been wolves too… I couldn't stop myself from saying. “Wow.”I woke up feeling as though I had been given a story to live that was not mine, and I did not know where to set it down.By morning, I knew where I needed to go. The orphanage had been the beginning of everything I remembered, the place that shaped me before the world decided it had other plans. If there were answers to be found, they would be there. The path felt strange beneath my steps, familiar stones and fences lining the way. Every corner held some faded echo of a girl with scraped knees and hair that never seemed to
{Ronan’s POV}Lisa lay against my chest, pale but breathing steadily, her weight reminding me of what truly mattered. The Elders exchanged glances until Elric finally stepped forward.“Forgive us, Alpha King,” he said, his voice carrying the weariness of one who had seen too many battles. “Tonight was meant for triumph, yet it was marred by chaos… I think I speak for everyone here when I say. We have never seen an election like this before.”He clapped as if to usher in a new era. “A proper coronation will be held in two days, where your Luna shall be crowned beside you before all the packs. There will be no more interruptions.”I inclined my head, though my teeth ground together. Words meant little when danger had already touched her. Still, I kept Lisa close, my arm firm around her.As I moved toward the doors, my gaze swept the hall. That was when I saw them. Bryan and Selena. They stood near the columns, trying to blend into the crowd as though the darkness could grant them mercy.
{Ronan’s POV}The air in the chamber pressed against me, thick with expectation and unease.Every wolf gathered here stared at Lisa like she was some spectacle on display, like she wasn’t my mate, my wife, the woman carrying my child.Their whispers slithered across the floor, poisoning the joy that had been here moments ago. And now the Elders wanted to test her. To prod at her like she was some curious animal they had found in the woods. ‘Absolutely not.’I stood in front of her, my arm spread out as though I could shield her from the entire room. “You will not put her through anything. Not without me standing there. If you have a problem with that, then there will be no test.”Gasps rippled through the crowd, as if my refusal was an act of war. But I didn’t care. King or not. I would ask as I pleased if it came to my family.Lisa touched my arm. “Ronan. It’s all right.”I turned to her, disbelieving. Her eyes were steady, though exhaustion lingered at the corners. She was still pal
