Amelia's POV…

I'm pregnant?

I stared down at the two pink lines of the pregnancy test.

"I'm really pregnant," I muttered with a smile, a ray of joy leaping in my heart.

After three long, agonizing years of whispered prayers and medicinal teas, I was finally carrying his child. My heart hammered against my ribs, a frantic, joyful rhythm. My Alpha, my mate, my Colton. We had waited so long for this miracle.

I was the daughter of Alpha Colton's maid, the girl who scrubbed the floors of the pack house while everyone went about their busy life. I had been in love with Alpha Colton since I came of age.

Little did I know that the moon goddess made us fate mates. I was mated to an Alpha. Not just any Alpha… Alpha Colton. My Colton.

We had waited for three long years to have a child. The pack members had started murmuring about it, some said it was because of my rank. That my blood couldn't produce an heir for the Alpha because I was too weak. I came from the omega family, the weakest in ranks.

But now, I had a miracle. I was finally pregnant with the Alpha’s heir.

"He’ll be happy," I whispered to the empty laundry room. "I can't wait to share this news with him"

I waited for the car to arrive and when it did, I jumped in and urged the driver to drive faster. I needed to see him. I needed to see the joy in his steel-gray eyes when I told him our pack finally had an heir.

But as I reached the pack house and stepped out of the car, the air felt... wrong. The securities at the company gate didn't meet my eyes. They looked at me with a strange, lingering pity.

There was also a strange scent, but my senses were too short. I didn't join the training program to train my wolf's senses.

However, I ignored them, and hurried toward the Alpha’s office. I didn't knock. I wanted to surprise him. With reserved strength, I pushed the heavy oak doors open, the words "Colton, I’m pregnant" resting on the tip of my tongue.

The words died in my throat.

He wasn't alone. Sitting on the edge of his desk, her manicured hand resting smoothly on his shoulder, was Victoria. The Beta’s daughter. The woman who had abandoned him the moment he found out I, the maid’s daughter, was his fated mate.

The woman who was now back.

"Amelia," Colton said. His voice wasn't as warm as it sounded on nights we were together. He sounded cold. He looked at me as if I were a smudge of dirt on his shirt.

I froze, my hand instinctively covering my stomach. "I... I didn't know you had company"

Victoria let out a melodic, luring laugh. She looked radiant in her designer silk dress, a sharp contrast to my simple cotton shift. "Oh, Colton and I were just catching up on old times. Right, Alpha?"

I looked at Colton, searching for the man who kissed me softly every morning. I found a stranger instead.

She called him Colton in the presence of someone else, not Alpha. I only refer to him by his name whenever we're alone.

"Go back to the cottage, Amelia," he muttered, turning back to a stack of papers. "I’m busy"

“The cottage?" I asked, my voice breaking. "What about our home?”

My wolf whimpered. The memories of what happened to me when I lived in the cottage came crashing back. My wolf was affected the most because she decided to take anchor all the pain, letting my human side suffer less. The cold floors, the malnourished food, the insults, those were my nightmares.

“Why not the cottage?" Victoria's voice rang through. It sounded sweet, but it was like venom to me. "That's where you belong,”

I looked at my mate, the one who was supposed to protect me. He didn't even look at me nor say anything.

"Just go, Amelia. I'll see you later,” that was all he said.

My heart fractured, but I stayed rooted to the spot. I could hear them whispering as I stepped back into the hallway, my wolf howling in confusion. Then, Victoria’s voice rose, loud enough for me to hear through the cracked door.

"You know, Ben mentioned that you two were still... trying to have a baby. How pathetic is that?"

I held my breath, waiting for Colton to defend us. To tell her how much he wanted our child.

"You heard wrong," Colton replied. "We aren't trying for anything"

My blood ran cold.

"Well, you really should tell Ben then," Victoria chuckled. "I can’t exactly tell him that you got your tubes tied just to make sure that maid's daughter never trapped you with a pup, can I?"

The world tilted. I leaned against the cold stone wall, the positive pregnancy test still tucked in my pocket, feeling like a death sentence.

He didn't want a miracle. He had ensured it would never happen.

So... whose baby was I carrying?

Kyra's POV… I hardly saw Marie these days, even when I went to their ward. I only saw the boys and just a few girls, but Marie was never there. “Hey little guy," I smiled at one of the kids, who was lying in bed and was reading a book. He looked up at me. "Where's Marie?” I asked. “She was moved to another ward some days ago," he answered. “What?" I frowned. “Why?" He shrugged. “I don't know. Nurse Mildred came and took her away," I thought for a minute about the possible reasons she must have been moved. “Thank you," I smiled at him and rubbed his hair. I left the ward in thoughts and went back to my room. Yeah, I still stayed in the hospital. My wolf was coming back, but doctor Elena said I should stay so my wolf will be nurtured well. I waited till the next day and went to the next children ward in the hospital. I got some treats I'll give her. I reached the children's ward and it was different from the next ward because there were different rooms and everywhere was qui

Amelia's POV…A week later, I got discharged. Although it was mainly because I protested because I didn't want to spend another day in the hospital. Doctor Elena will be coming to the pack house to take care of me and monitor my progress. Personally, I didn't want the pack members to know I was back. I felt a little but embarrassed about the fact that they would see their runaway Luna back already. So I asked doctor Elena to schedule my discharge by evening. That evening, the car was waiting outside already. Jaxen held me in one hand. She was worried I might pass out again. Colton was walking behind us, together with Doctor Elena. I got into the car and Colton got in too. Jaxen waved me goodbye as the car drove off. It was a silent drive. I folded my arms over my chest and looked out through the window, not paying any attention to him. Since our mate bond was broken, I didn't feel any pull towards him. I'm sure he must have noticed that. “Amelia," he called and touched my h

Amelia's POV…Doctor Elena came back shortly after that and sat on a chair opposite me. “How do you feel?" She asked. I shook my head. “I don't know," I paused. “What about Jaxen?" “You mean your friend?" She asked and I nodded. “She's here in the pack. Alpha sent her to the guest house and she's been receiving proper maintenances there," "Been?” I asked. "Wait, how long was I out for?”She hesitated. "Three days,” she answered. "What?” I screamed as I sat up. "Why did I stay that long?”"Luna,” she said, scooting forward. "You've been through a hard life experience. You ensured torture and pain, while being pregnant, without having received proper medical care. That alone is enough to make you pass out for long," she paused. “Besides, you were poisoned," she said.My ears flared. “Poisoned?" I asked and my hands instinctively lay protectively over my stomach. “From your injury," she continued. “It looks like you got cut by a sharp object which was poisoned on the tips," Oh.

Amelia's POV…I opened my eyes a few seconds after that and lowered my hands. She was lying on the floor in human form and was breathing rapidly. I quickly rushed to her. “Jaxen?" I shook her gently. “Are you okay?" I asked as she opened her eyes slowly. “What happened?" She groaned. “You don't remember?" I asked and she shook her head. “It's not important now," I said in urgency. “We should go," “Wait Amelia," she held my hand. “Did I hurt you?" She asked.I saw the guilty look in her eyes. I shook my head. “No you didn't," I said. She didn't look convinced. "Seriously you didn't,” I assured. "We should go now. There was a piercing noise and I think they must have found out…" “Luna?" I turned around and saw Runa running towards us. “What are you doing here?" I asked. “We're supposed to meet you at the other side," “Yes," she said. “Some Rogues escaped from their dungeon so the warriors are going after them and I hadn't seen you so I had to come," she explained. I nodded

Colton's POV…“What?" I screamed, jerking out of my seat at the same time.“She's… pr…pregnant?" I stuttered. Runa had just sent words that Amelia was in Draven's pack and she was pregnant… with my pup. “Yes Alpha and Draven wanted to terminate the pregnancy when he found out. But fortunately, Runa was the doctor and she had to do something,” Drew explained. My jaw tightened as I clenched my fist and my nails dug into my palms. Drakthar was going wild in my mind. My chest swelled from anger, guilt, pain and fear. “We should get ready," I said, trying to keep my cool and not go crazy in front of my Beta. “Send words back to her that everything will proceed as planned," I continued. “Tell her to keep her Luna safe at all costs and if Draven tries anything… then she should fight back,”"But a war could break out,” he said. "I don't care,” I said, my eyes darkening. “But Alpha, he has the upper hand here because he caught Luna outside our territory and she isn't even claimed yet,

Amelia's POV…“I thought about it last night," Jaxen said the next morning. “I guess I shouldn't be so mad at you. I mean, anyone would do the same. You were only trying to survive," she added. She held my hands. “I forgive you," I smiled widely. “Really?" She nodded. “Yeah… but don't do it again. I won't let it slide,” I nodded. "Thank you so much,” I embraced her. "I deeply appreciate it,”"So,” she sighed. "Who is that lady and what exactly is going on? Tell me everything,”"That lady, she's the best female warrior we have,” I started. "A warrior?” She asked. I nodded. "No wonder she was so stoic,” she said. I was silent for a while. "My mate, Alpha Colton, was the reason I left the pack. My mother was his servant and she worked in his mansion. I was helping her out. We are so low in rank, as omegas, that when I found out he was my mate, I couldn't believe it, even though I secretly admired him," She nodded. I continued. "But he was already in a relationship with the Bet
