LOGINAmelia's POV…
My hands lay over my stomach protectively. I hadn't been invoiced with any other person, so how come… or was the pregnant test wrong? A chilling breeze filled the cottage and made a chill run down my spine. The excitement I felt earlier that day when I saw the pregnancy result had just faded and was replaced with a feeling of confusion and uncertainty. I checked my watch. It was already 7:00pm on the dot. “Did he forget about me or he's still at the office?" I asked myself. “I'll wait a few more minutes. I'm sure he's still busy," Just then, the door creaked open and he walked in. My face instantly brightened when I saw him. I stood up from the bench and went to meet him, aiming to embrace him. “Colton, what happened…” I was cut off by his next action. He put his right hand In front of him, preventing my body from touching his. My wolf whimpered at that. ‘It’s okay Nyx. He must be tired from work’ Nyx is my wolf. She's amazing. Literally the best thing that ever happened to me. And she is the reason I survived my slave years. “Why did you come to the office today?" He asked. I blinked rapidly. “I come all the time. You normally ask for lunch and I get them for you," He sighed and looked away, running his hand through his hair. “Today was different. You shouldn't have come," he said, the air around us shifting as I could tell he was getting irritated. I hung my head low in submission. "I'm sorry,” He's never spoken to me like this in private before. He was always understanding and careful with me. "Why did you come?” I looked at him and opened my mouth to announce to him about our child… but then, what he said earlier sounded in my ears. "I…I…uh” the words died in my throat. "What is it Amelia?” He asked, this time around, his voice softened as he looked at me. "I just wanted to see you,” I lied. "To know if you're okay,” He straightened up. "I'm always okay. You don't have to always come running to the office every time,” My hands reached to my side and I felt the pregnancy test still intact. If he denied wanting a child and that he tied his tubes, there was no way I could tell him I was pregnant. I didn't know the father of my baby. "Victoria came back,” I said, trying to change the topic. "What did she say?” He moved away and sat on the bench I was sitting on earlier. "Nothing much,” he shrugged. "We just talked about random things,” Random things? To Colton, random could mean very important things or things he wasn't willing to talk about. "There'll be a banquet tomorrow. It's a celebration,” "A celebration? For whom?” I asked, nudging closer to where he sat. He seemed so cold and distant today. "For Victoria,” he blurted. My brows furrowed as I looked at him in surprise. "For Victoria… your ex,” “It doesn't matter who she is, what matters is that she's back and we need to welcome her back to the pack," "Okay,” I sighed. "Since it's a celebration… it means everyone will be there?” I asked and he nodded. "So we're going together?” I asked again. Nyx purred. The thought of going together with him, his hands holding mine and walking into the hall made me smile. "No,” came his cold reply. My face fell instantly. "No?” ‘What does he mean by no?’ Nyx asked. ‘How am I supposed to know? I need to ask him first’ "Why not?” "You'll just stay in the pack house with others that won't be attending,” he ignored my question. "But everyone will be there. No one would want to miss a banquet,” "I'm talking about the servants that won't be on duty tomorrow night, those cooking… you stay with them," I gasped at what he said. “You want me to stay with the servants while you're away at a banquet for your ex?" “Don't make things difficult here. You're not coming… just stay with them till everything's over," “But why can't I come? I'm your mate…" I trailed off. “Just. Do. As. I. Said," he used his alpha tone on me and my wolf howled in surrender and I lowered my head. “Yes Colton," He stood up from the bench and started moving. As he reached where I was, he stopped and leaned down. “It's Alpha from now on," with that, he left.Amelia's POV…I was back at the hut. Jaxen was sharpening her knife again. I owed her an apology for my ungrateful attitude earlier. I opened my mouth to say something, but she beat me to it. “I'm sorry about earlier," she said. I blinked. Why was she apologizing? I should be the one doing that, not her. She looked at me. “I took out everything on you and I shouldn't have. I'm sorry about that," I shook my head. “You don't have to apologise. I'm the one supposed to apologise for sounding so ungrateful. I guess I deserved it," She sighed. “All my life, I've always tried to live up to expectations and please everyone around me. Even if it meant inconveniencing myself just to make them happy. But each time, my efforts were never appreciated," “I’m sorry you faced that," “My family… they treated me like I wasn't a part of them. Like I was an outcast… like I never truly belonged. When I found my mate, the Beta of our pack, they wanted to exploit the opportunity so they could rise t
Colton's POV…“You took her to the building site?" I asked. I was in my office and the chief contractor was standing before me. Drew said he might know something. "Yes Alpha,” he answered. "Luna had requested to see the new construction site. I… I couldn't disobey her orders and also, I didn't know she wasn't aware of it,”"Why did you take her there?” I growled, slamming my palms on the table. He fell to his knees. "I'm so sorry Alpha. I didn't know you didn't want her to see it. Please forgive me. I apologise for my mistake,”"Apologies?” I scoffed. "Your apologies fixes nothing. “My mate is miles away from here. Your Luna could be in trouble and you are apologising?" "Alpha, with all due respect,” Drew cut in slowly. "I don't think he's to blame. There's absolutely no way Luna would have gave him orders to take her there and he wouldn't obey," My jaw tightened and my nails dug into my palms. I glared at the man on his knees. “You can go," I said to him. He quickly rose from his
Amelia's POV…Jaxen and I were on a lonely path in search of the leaf that could mask my scent. We were very far from the hut. I don't know how far we've gone, but I knew it was so far that we won't be able to run back there if we got attacked right about now. “How did you know about his leaf?" I asked her. “A female Rogue told me about it," she paused. “A pregnant Rogue," My eyes widened. “What? A pregnant wolf? How come?" “She had cheated on her mate. She was already in love with someone else when her mate found her and she and her lover didn't want to end things so they kept seeing each other and that included intimacy. When she got pregnant, she tried to pin it on her mate. But he soon found out and she was banished from the pack," My mouth fell open as she told the story. She looked at me, then my stomach. “That was the reason I asked if you had cheated on your mate too and then got kicked out," I laughed. “That is so not possible," I wondered if her mate felt the same wa
Colton's POV…I paced back and forth in my room. I couldn't sleep a wink. My nerves were just on edge and I felt very restless. The rain had already started pouring heavily. The lightning came in flashes and the thunder rolled angrily. I moved to the window and looked into the rain painted night. Was she okay? Was she cold? Where could she be? I sat on the bed as thousands of questions flooded my mind at the same time. I couldn't wait for the morning. I desperately needed answers.********That morning…I visited her mansion again, hoping… just hoping to get a positive answer this time. As I got there, all the servants were there… on their knees. What were they doing?“Please Alpha, we're innocent. We know nothing about Luna's disappearance. Please spare our families," they all cried. I watched them all in utter surprise. I was definitely not expecting this. “You take me for a fool huh?" I said, my voice dangerously low. “You think I'll believe this pretty lie of yours?" I thund
Colton's POV…“What do you mean you couldn't find her?" I barked at Drew. “Search everywhere. She must be somewhere. No one is to rest until she's been found," “Yes Alpha," he bowed and left. I reclined on my chair and closed my eyes. I gently rubbed my temples as a sigh escaped my lips. “Where could she be?" The door opened and shut with a clicking sound. I wondered who had the guts to come into my office without knocking. I was in a very bad mood so the person was in for a serious lash out. Before I could open my eyes, I felt a hand slide down my neck. “You've been shouting since morning," she said. “You must be tired. Come, let's go inside," she said and held my hands.“Not now Victoria," I said and released my hands.“I have a surprise for you,* she pressed on. “Don’t you want to know what it is?”I opened my eyes and looked at her. "I'm not in the mood,”I sat up and picked my pen to continue signing documents. "No,” she said and took the pen from me. "I'll help you out,”
Amelia's POV…Later that night, I left the hut and joined her outside. Everywhere was pitch black except the glow from the moon. I sat on the floor next to the wall. “I've decided to let you stay," she said in the darkness. "But if you cause any trouble, I won't just send you away… I'll kill you,”My heart skipped a bit when she said that, but I knew I wasn't going to cause her any troubles. "Don't worry,” I said. "You won't even know I'm here,”She didn't say anything to that. We just stayed out there, looking into the darkness. Sometimes, I would just stare up at the moon. “Do you usually like the dark or you don't want to light a fire?" “I don't light any fire because light draws attention and attracts predators. Any form of light source would draw their attention and you wouldn't want to know how it turns out," “Predators like…”"Rogue wolves,” she answered sharply. "Because I didn't kill you doesn't mean others won't. There are rogue wolves that have lost their human sides
Amelia's POV…“This isn't right," the female doctor said. “She shouldn't be experiencing heat anymore," Kyra, the maidservant, had called the doctor and now she was checking me. I was in bed, my eyes shut. “Exactly my thought," Kyra concurred. "I think something is wrong with her and we need to l
Amelia's POV… The banquet had already started but I was still hiding. Some pack members were still outside, and I didn't want to risk them seeing me. I thought I would have to wait for eternity or maybe still… not get to see everything. But then… everyone started rushing into the hall. I wa
Amelia's POV… I stood by the window looking out. Pack members were leaving the pack house and moving towards the banquet hall. The excitement was all over their faces as they chatted along the way. But I was here, trapped like a forsaken princess, waiting to be rescued by a prince in a shiny a
Amelia's POV… “Where are you going Luna?" Runa asked as I stood up and moved towards the door. I furrowed my brows. “I'm thirsty and I want to get water to drink," “Okay," she came towards me. “I'll help you with that. Just sit," I didn't move and she didn't either. She seemed to be waiting
