LOGINAmelia's POV…
The banquet had already started but I was still hiding. Some pack members were still outside, and I didn't want to risk them seeing me. I thought I would have to wait for eternity or maybe still… not get to see everything. But then… everyone started rushing into the hall. I was confused. What was happening? ‘If only we can just walk in boldly and see what's happened’ Nyx said. ‘You know we can't’ “What's going on?" Someone asked as they ran in group. “Alpha wants to dance," another person answered. “With whom?" I asked myself. I waited till they had all gone inside and snuck to the nearest window of the hall. It was pretty high so I had to stack two benches so I could see clearly. I peeped inside, not letting my entire face come into the light. Someone could catch me. "He wants to dance with… Victoria?” I muttered. I watched in disbelief as he stepped down from his Alpha throne and went towards Victoria, where she was seated at the dinner table and held out his right hand for her. I gasped when she took his hand, smiling. My heart broke when I saw that. The way he held her waist when they danced and how her hands were on his shoulders crushed me. A tear slipped from my eyes and ran down my cheeks. Nyx let out a whimper. More tears streamed down my cheeks as I closed my eyes and the pain of his actions ruptured something inside me. Was that why he didn't want me to come? Because he wanted to accept Victoria? Because he wasn't proud of my rank? “Who's there?" I jerked immediately and lost balance and fell over, hitting the ground with so much face. “Aishh," I winced in pain. I didn't know whether it was from what I saw or from the fall. How many more times do I need to fall today for Colton? My hands quickly flew to my stomach and I held it protectively. I stood up immediately. Someone with a torch was coming my way. I didn't want anyone to see me. I tried to run, but I had hurt my ankle. I was leaping and each step I took worsened it. I shifted and Nyx healed it and she trotted away. *********** It was five minutes past two in the morning, when the door of the room creaked open. I was back at the servant's quarters, where I was earlier. I couldn't sleep a wink, not when the memory of Colton and Victoria haunted me. I sat up when I saw him. He looked exhausted and tired and his shirt was a mess. “You're awake," he said. He sounded surprised like he was expecting me to be asleep. I just nodded. "How was the banquet?” I asked. "Where were you?” He asked, ignoring my earlier question. I blinked as I thought of excuses and lies to come up with. Ones that wouldn't implicate me. "I… I was…” "I don't need you stuttering. I asked a simple question," he paused. “Where were you?" “I was feeling sick and and I wanted to go for a run," “Don't lie to me. Runa told me everything. You don't jump out through the window if you only wanted to go for a run,” I was silent and that seemed to infuriate. “I'm talking to you, Amelia. Where did you go?" I shuddered at his reaction, but I didn't want to be weak, not in the moment. “Are you asking because you are concerned or because you didn't want me to be in a certain place?" I didn't know where I got the guts to answer him with a question? He took in a sharp breath and approached me, his huge body towering over mine. That made me lower my gaze and move back a little. “I'm your Alpha and I have every right to know where you went," “I told you already,” I said, my tone not as harsh as before. "I went for a run,” He remained silent and looked me over, skeptically, not knowing whether to believe me or not. "Then why did you have to jump? You could have just told Runa that you were feeling sick,” "She didn't want to let me go out. She said you gave her orders not to let me go anywhere. That I should stay up here, in the room,” “I mean, I said that. I gave her those orders but if you had given her your reason, I'm sure she would have obliged," "Really? What am I exactly to you that you had to send someone to come and watch me… no… actually, guard me and keep me locked up," I paused. “Do you realize that no one is going to regard me if you keep doing this," “What am I doing?" He asked. I looked at him like he had grown two heads. “You know what… it's fine. But I do have one question,” There was silence. "Why didn't you want me to attend that banquet?” He sighed. "Are we back at this again?” "I just want to know. I'm really curious. Why?” He didn't say anything. He looked away and scratched the back of his head. I scoffed. “What am I to you Colton…” "Alpha,” he growled. I was surprised at his sudden growling. Why was he acting this way. I would never call him that, even if it meant not calling his name. Then I'd gladly do that. “What woman calls her mate by his title? Why are acting this way?" I paused. "Is it because her?" “Victoria has nothing to do with this," “You call her by her name, but you want me to call you Alpha in out private moments?" “I've said what I said," he said dismissively. “I don't want this topic to brought up ever again," he said in a tone of finality. He turned around to go but I quickly grabbed his hands. “Before you go, can you answer this?" He wanted to remove his hand from my hold but I held on tighter. “Please," “What is it?" “Do you love me?" I blurted out.Amelia's POV…“This isn't right," the female doctor said. “She shouldn't be experiencing heat anymore," Kyra, the maidservant, had called the doctor and now she was checking me. I was in bed, my eyes shut. “Exactly my thought," Kyra concurred. "I think something is wrong with her and we need to let the Alpha know immediately,”"Yes. Get the Alpha. He's her mate and his presence alone can soothe the pain,” the doctor added. I didn't hear anything for some minutes except the opening and closing of the door as Kyra left. "Don't worry Luna,” the doctor said. "Alpha is on his way,” I didn't respond to that. I didn't have the energy to. With Nyx silent, it felt like I was human. The strength and comfort that came from her, was all gone. The door opened again, but I didn't know who it was that came in. It sure wasn't him. If it were him, I would smell him. "The guards said the Alpha doesn't want to be disturbed,” Kyra's voice rang through. "What? Why is that?”"They said he's teachi
Amelia's POV…“Where are you going?" I asked, holding him to stop him. “You heard them," he said. “She passed out and…”"The doctors will definitely revive her. That's the job of a doctor and you're not a doctor so you don't need to go,” I said. "Amelia,” he removed my hands and held my shoulders. "She needs me,”I frowned. "And I don't,”He sighed. "You can manage. But hers is different. Her health could be at risk here,”I scoffed in disbelief. "I can manage. What makes you think that?” I asked, looking into his eyes, but he didn't look back at me. "It's been over a month since we've been intimate. You don't come around anymore and to make matters worse, you gave me a separate room, far from yours. I miss your touches, your kisses, the words you whisper to me every night when you hold me and every morning when you kiss me good morning. My body misses you. Nyx misses Valthor…" I choked as the tears ran down my cheeks freely. “I don't like what you're doing to me… to us," I held
Amelia's POV…Nyx leaped in excitement as we prepared for the evening. He had agreed to come. I knew he would. Victoria was just lying and trying to mess with my head. I placed the scented candles on the counter and lit some table candles by the wall. I had dressed up looking good and smelt nice. I would tell him the good news tonight. That I was pregnant and the pack finally had an heir… or heiress. As I sat on the bed, I watched the time as I waited for him. He said he would come by 7:00. As time drew nearer, I grew more nervous. It was just five minutes to seven o'clock and my heart was already thumping in my chest and my hands felt sweaty. ‘It’s okay girl. He's not going to bite you, you know,’ Nyx said. “Sure. Right," I muttered. It struck seven o'clock, and my gaze travelled to the door as I stared at it.He would be here any minute. I looked down at myself and checked around, making sure everything was in place, then returned my gaze to the door. I kept staring at the
Colton's POV…I was in my office going through some documents when there came a knock at the door. “Come in," I said. The door opened and Drew came in. Drew is the beta.“You sent for me," “Yes, I did," I said. "I need you to do something for me,”"Assemble the workers and direct them to the new site. I want them to build something there for me,”"What will that be for?”"You'll know once it's done,” I muttered and sighed. He laughed. "What's the matter?” "I'm just so stressed,” I said and relaxed on my chair. "Let me guess,” he said cunningly. “Luna troubles," I laughed. “Exactly," I sat up. “She's making a big deal out of nothing," “Big deal?" He asked and took a seat in front of me. "I think she's jealous of your sister,”He raised a brow. "She's jealous of Victoria? How come?”"She's been super sensitive, wanting more attention since Victoria came back and… and… I don't know what it is exactly," I sighed in exasperation. “Listen man, she's your mate and the future Luna o

Amelia's POV… I stood by the window looking out. Pack members were leaving the pack house and moving towards the banquet hall. The excitement was all over their faces as they chatted along the way. But I was here, trapped like a forsaken princess, waiting to be rescued by a prince in a shiny armour. “I'm not staying here any minute longer," I muttered with determination. Time to make my move. ‘Nyx, are you sure about this?’ ‘I’ve never been so sure of anything before’ I took a deep breath and climbed up to the window. Good thing it was wide enough for me to fit through. Nyx can't fit through, so I'll jump and then mid air, shift. ‘You sure you'll be okay and won't get hurt?’ ‘Let’s do this’ I nodded and bit my lips, getting ready to jump. Before I could finally jump, the door bursted open and Runa rushed in alarmed, like she already had an idea of what I was thinking. The moment I saw her, I began panicking and as a result… fell off the window. “Ahhhh" I screamed
