MasukAmelia's POV…
I stood by the window looking out. Pack members were leaving the pack house and moving towards the banquet hall. The excitement was all over their faces as they chatted along the way. But I was here, trapped like a forsaken princess, waiting to be rescued by a prince in a shiny armour. “I'm not staying here any minute longer," I muttered with determination. Time to make my move. ‘Nyx, are you sure about this?’ ‘I’ve never been so sure of anything before’ I took a deep breath and climbed up to the window. Good thing it was wide enough for me to fit through. Nyx can't fit through, so I'll jump and then mid air, shift. ‘You sure you'll be okay and won't get hurt?’ ‘Let’s do this’ I nodded and bit my lips, getting ready to jump. Before I could finally jump, the door bursted open and Runa rushed in alarmed, like she already had an idea of what I was thinking. The moment I saw her, I began panicking and as a result… fell off the window. “Ahhhh" I screamed as I fell. "Luna” I heard Runa scream from the window. The breeze filled my mouth as I screamed and fell. It felt like my mouth was going to tear. ‘Shift’ Nyx screamed at me. ‘I can't’ I was panicking so bad. ‘Just do it’ I tried focusing, so I could shift, but I was too surged to concentrate. ‘If you break any bones, I'm not healing you’ We were already a few feet from the ground. My heart was thumping so hard in my chest. Focus. Focus. Focus. I closed my eyes as we neared the ground, waiting for the worst to happen. Thud. My eyes were still closed, I was too scared to open them. I didn't feel any pain. Slowly, I opened my eyes. I looked down as I lifted my hands. I sighed in relief when I saw my paw. We made it. ‘Of course we did. I told you to trust me’ I laughed. “Luna?" My head quickly snapped up. I saw Runa running down the stairs to where I was. ‘We have to go' I said. ‘Then let's go. You have to trust me now. We'll be faster this way’ ‘Then go’ Nyx sprinted off immediately. I could feel her excitement as she ran. She'll definitely make the most out of this opportunity. She turned and saw Runa chasing her. Her big red wolf was catching up to us. ‘We need a defensive mechanism to escape her and outrun her’ I said. ‘I’m on it,' Nyx said with determination. She sprinted into the woods, but didn't go far away. She ran amongst the trees and took another turn, luring Runa to a different direction and hid by the trunk of an oak tree. Runa ran past with so speed. The leaves rose in the air as she ran. Nyx howled in victory and ran back, heading for the hall. We approached the premises and hid behind the trees. The light couldn't reach where I was. I shifted back and moved closer towards the hall, using the giant trees as shield. I was naked. I turned around to make sure no one was following me. I moved behind the hall and grabbed a brown blanket that was hung to cover myself. My plan was simple. I would watch everything that will happen tonight from a distance. I won't enter the hall. Colton might smell me. As I was walking in the shadows, I heard a group of people with torches approaching. I looked around for somewhere to hide. I found a door next to me. I opened it and entered inside immediately. I stayed still, not wanting to make any sound to attract them. “Why is she back now?" One of them said. The voice sounded feminine. "Exactly my point. It's been four years since she left the pack, since she left Alpha and now she's back?” "If I was the Alpha, I wouldn't welcome her back," another one said. “There's a grand banquet just for her. But there was none when Alpha found his mate," “Maybe he still loves Victoria. Or loves her more than his mate," “Ssshhh," Everywhere went silent. “Don't say that again. If anyone hears that from you and it gets to the Alpha, you all could be beheaded" They all gasped. I shuddered at the thought of witnessing that. “Whatever happens in the life of our Alpha is not our business," “We know Tolayts, but it's not fair to our Luna. He shouldn't be doing this for another woman that is not his mate," “Did you guys hear that since morning, she's been in the Alpha's quarters and he even bought a wardrobe filled with dresses for her to pick an outfit to wear tonight," “What?" I muttered. “Yeah. I heard that," There was another silence. “Maybe he's considering getting married to her," “What?" I said aloud and stumbled back when I stepped on something on the floor. “What was that sound?" “I don't know" “We should go. Before someone sees us," “We should be serving food and drinks and not gossiping. I don't want my head cut off," the person said and made a gagging sound. They all laughed and left. It was just me, alone in the store with my thoughts. He bought her wardrobe filled with dresses. Maybe he's considering getting married to her. Their words rang in my ears. Victoria was everything I am not and there was no way I could compete with her if Colton wanted to marry her.Amelia's POV…I was back at the hut. Jaxen was sharpening her knife again. I owed her an apology for my ungrateful attitude earlier. I opened my mouth to say something, but she beat me to it. “I'm sorry about earlier," she said. I blinked. Why was she apologizing? I should be the one doing that, not her. She looked at me. “I took out everything on you and I shouldn't have. I'm sorry about that," I shook my head. “You don't have to apologise. I'm the one supposed to apologise for sounding so ungrateful. I guess I deserved it," She sighed. “All my life, I've always tried to live up to expectations and please everyone around me. Even if it meant inconveniencing myself just to make them happy. But each time, my efforts were never appreciated," “I’m sorry you faced that," “My family… they treated me like I wasn't a part of them. Like I was an outcast… like I never truly belonged. When I found my mate, the Beta of our pack, they wanted to exploit the opportunity so they could rise t
Colton's POV…“You took her to the building site?" I asked. I was in my office and the chief contractor was standing before me. Drew said he might know something. "Yes Alpha,” he answered. "Luna had requested to see the new construction site. I… I couldn't disobey her orders and also, I didn't know she wasn't aware of it,”"Why did you take her there?” I growled, slamming my palms on the table. He fell to his knees. "I'm so sorry Alpha. I didn't know you didn't want her to see it. Please forgive me. I apologise for my mistake,”"Apologies?” I scoffed. "Your apologies fixes nothing. “My mate is miles away from here. Your Luna could be in trouble and you are apologising?" "Alpha, with all due respect,” Drew cut in slowly. "I don't think he's to blame. There's absolutely no way Luna would have gave him orders to take her there and he wouldn't obey," My jaw tightened and my nails dug into my palms. I glared at the man on his knees. “You can go," I said to him. He quickly rose from his
Amelia's POV…Jaxen and I were on a lonely path in search of the leaf that could mask my scent. We were very far from the hut. I don't know how far we've gone, but I knew it was so far that we won't be able to run back there if we got attacked right about now. “How did you know about his leaf?" I asked her. “A female Rogue told me about it," she paused. “A pregnant Rogue," My eyes widened. “What? A pregnant wolf? How come?" “She had cheated on her mate. She was already in love with someone else when her mate found her and she and her lover didn't want to end things so they kept seeing each other and that included intimacy. When she got pregnant, she tried to pin it on her mate. But he soon found out and she was banished from the pack," My mouth fell open as she told the story. She looked at me, then my stomach. “That was the reason I asked if you had cheated on your mate too and then got kicked out," I laughed. “That is so not possible," I wondered if her mate felt the same wa
Colton's POV…I paced back and forth in my room. I couldn't sleep a wink. My nerves were just on edge and I felt very restless. The rain had already started pouring heavily. The lightning came in flashes and the thunder rolled angrily. I moved to the window and looked into the rain painted night. Was she okay? Was she cold? Where could she be? I sat on the bed as thousands of questions flooded my mind at the same time. I couldn't wait for the morning. I desperately needed answers.********That morning…I visited her mansion again, hoping… just hoping to get a positive answer this time. As I got there, all the servants were there… on their knees. What were they doing?“Please Alpha, we're innocent. We know nothing about Luna's disappearance. Please spare our families," they all cried. I watched them all in utter surprise. I was definitely not expecting this. “You take me for a fool huh?" I said, my voice dangerously low. “You think I'll believe this pretty lie of yours?" I thund
Colton's POV…“What do you mean you couldn't find her?" I barked at Drew. “Search everywhere. She must be somewhere. No one is to rest until she's been found," “Yes Alpha," he bowed and left. I reclined on my chair and closed my eyes. I gently rubbed my temples as a sigh escaped my lips. “Where could she be?" The door opened and shut with a clicking sound. I wondered who had the guts to come into my office without knocking. I was in a very bad mood so the person was in for a serious lash out. Before I could open my eyes, I felt a hand slide down my neck. “You've been shouting since morning," she said. “You must be tired. Come, let's go inside," she said and held my hands.“Not now Victoria," I said and released my hands.“I have a surprise for you,* she pressed on. “Don’t you want to know what it is?”I opened my eyes and looked at her. "I'm not in the mood,”I sat up and picked my pen to continue signing documents. "No,” she said and took the pen from me. "I'll help you out,”
Amelia's POV…Later that night, I left the hut and joined her outside. Everywhere was pitch black except the glow from the moon. I sat on the floor next to the wall. “I've decided to let you stay," she said in the darkness. "But if you cause any trouble, I won't just send you away… I'll kill you,”My heart skipped a bit when she said that, but I knew I wasn't going to cause her any troubles. "Don't worry,” I said. "You won't even know I'm here,”She didn't say anything to that. We just stayed out there, looking into the darkness. Sometimes, I would just stare up at the moon. “Do you usually like the dark or you don't want to light a fire?" “I don't light any fire because light draws attention and attracts predators. Any form of light source would draw their attention and you wouldn't want to know how it turns out," “Predators like…”"Rogue wolves,” she answered sharply. "Because I didn't kill you doesn't mean others won't. There are rogue wolves that have lost their human sides
Amelia's POV…“This isn't right," the female doctor said. “She shouldn't be experiencing heat anymore," Kyra, the maidservant, had called the doctor and now she was checking me. I was in bed, my eyes shut. “Exactly my thought," Kyra concurred. "I think something is wrong with her and we need to l
Amelia's POV… The banquet had already started but I was still hiding. Some pack members were still outside, and I didn't want to risk them seeing me. I thought I would have to wait for eternity or maybe still… not get to see everything. But then… everyone started rushing into the hall. I wa
Amelia's POV… My hands lay over my stomach protectively. I hadn't been invoiced with any other person, so how come… or was the pregnant test wrong? A chilling breeze filled the cottage and made a chill run down my spine. The excitement I felt earlier that day when I saw the pregnancy result had
Amelia's POV… I'm pregnant? I stared down at the two pink lines of the pregnancy test. "I'm really pregnant," I muttered with a smile, a ray of joy leaping in my heart. After three long, agonizing years of whispered prayers and medicinal teas, I was finally carrying his child. My heart hamm
