I sat by Lena’s side, watching her fidget and shuffle uncomfortably as her mind was overtaken with the worries of her sister. My offers of activities to distract her mind had been brushed off with a look of disdain. I knew she needed her sister here, where she would know she was safe, and no activity was going to take her mind from that. But I wanted to know that Lena was safe. That she was happy, and right now I was feeling uneasy. I did not like the aura coming from the she-wolf by my side...

‘Just be there for the girl.’ Ghost suggested. ‘That is all you can do right now.’

I knew my wolf meant well in offering his advice, but what was I meant to do with that? Was that not what I had been trying to do? ‘She won’t even talk to me.’ I all but whined at my wolf. I desperately wanted Lena to open up to me a little, but she remained a closed book, and it was frustrating me. All offers of conversation were brought to an abrup

Sleep was not going to be my friend today. Although this time that was not a choice of my own body. It was forced upon me by the delight of a man I had the pleasure to call my father. I usually hated being a passenger in a car, but had given up the driving responsibilities in hopes I would be able to grab some sleep while we went to fetch the stray she-wolf we were on our way to save. Evidently my father had other ideas…Of course, he did. I mean, why on earth would he be so kind as to let his eldest son and heir sleep?! He had not stopped talking since the moment we had left our pack, and I swear my sleep-deprived brain was now contemplating ways I could kill him and make it look like an accident, all so I could find somewhere to nap. I have never felt so tired! My eyelids flickered sleepily as my head sagged forward, close to dropping off, just as my father's voice once more disturbed any chance of that... “Isn't Lena sweet?” He praised my brother&

Lena was upon my lap. And every part of my body ached for the girl. I don’t think she realized just the effect she was having upon me. Seeing her sitting in the hot tub wearing nothing but her underwear had been enough to break my honorable thoughts. I had planned to be patient. Planned to be everything she needed me to be. But seeing her that way and my mind went one place, and one place only. I don't think I had wanted anyone so badly...As she edged herself onto my lap, pressing herself down onto my hardened shaft, currently straining against the fabric of my shorts, I had been ready to kiss her and show her just how much I wanted her. I had been ready to break the promises I had made to myself about being patient. I wanted the girl. But hearing that gasp slip from her lips brought me crashing back down to earth. That gasp, short as it may have been, spoke volumes. This was all new. To her. To us. I needed to be patient. I needed to stick to my original plans.

The warm water around my body felt heavenly. Perhaps Ezra had been right, this may be just what I needed. I leaned my back against the soft cushions, and my head against the side, before closing my eyes. I tried to free my mind of all negative thoughts swirling around inside of it. Slowing my breathing in a bid to relax, but just as I did I heard footsteps close to me…My eyes flickered open, knowing that Ezra was coming to join me. It had been a spur-of-the-moment decision to suggest he did, but a decision I regretted the moment I released that I did not have a swimsuit within my clothes that had been brought. I had to improvise. Ezra was making his way to the hot tub, dressed in nothing but deep blue swim shorts. The rest of his body was on full display to me, so I quickly averted my eyes, not wanting him to catch me staring. Yet, as my eyes moved to his, I could see his gaze lingering upon my body, staring, just as I had not wanted to be seen doing to him...A flood of heat rushed

I paced the floor of the lounge, uncertain what I should do. I had wanted desperately to go with Alpha Isak as he promised me he would bring my sister to be safely by my side. But, despite my protestations, the Alpha had been adamant I should remain within his pack, unsure of my safety if I were to go outside right now while people were on the hunt for my sister. He was already trying to protect me more than the senior members of my own pack had done in a long time...But, whether I was out there with them searching for my sister or not, I needed to know that Cora was safe. My mind was spinning with so many possibilities of what could go wrong for her. She had placed herself in so much danger the moment she left with that warrior, and while I understood her reasoning, he had only placed her in further danger the moment he abandoned her. I hated him. While every part of me was pleading with myself to call her, I had to fight it. My sister had little to no charge left on her phone, and

I dropped back onto my bed. No coffee had even reached my lips, and I had chosen to ignore the wishes of the pack elders. Speaking with them could wait. Forever if I had a choice. Hopefully they would drop dead before then. Hearing the shit going down with my brother and his soon-to-be wife had irritated me beyond belief. I was not in the mood for then having to deal with the self-righteous asses of pack elders too.The moment my body relaxed into the mattress I felt my wolf pacing. He was unsettled. 'Ace. Piss off.' I grumbled. 'Let a guy sleep.''Could say the same when you are up and partying at hours I don't want to be.' He argued, making me smirk.'You are a wolf, old man. Get a life. Live a little.' I teased.'And you are meant to be an Alpha last time I checked. Be a little more responsible, and you may not need to spend your day napping.' He sniped, and that smirk was suddenly gone. My wolf was criticizing my abilities as an Alpha, and that was cr
