The following day.
Alessia sat up quickly from the bed. Her eyelids were still tired, but she had to get ready for her first day at her new job. She yawned loudly as she got out of bed and ran her fingers through her unkempt hair. She grumbled since she was still tired but needed to get dressed. Her eyes widened in surprise as she examined the wall clock: it was 8:30 a.m and she was supposed to resume work at 9:00 a.m.
She went to an interview in Walter's Enterprise last week and fortunately for her, she was hired as the office interior designer and her duty was to make sure the offices had comfortable and healthy furniture. She was sure going to love her new job.
She dashed to the bathroom, brushing her teeth and taking a bath. How did she manage to sleep that much? And, Zelda didn't even bother waking her up! Then, she remembered Zelda had fallen asleep so drunk last night and would wake up with a hangover. She hurriedly dried her hair with a towel after finishing her bath and picked up a formal knee-length white pencil skirt and light blue blouse. After putting on her clothes, she stared at herself in the mirror and gave a kind smile and she was good to go!
She was so excited about her new job or maybe because it has been a long time since she had worked in a big company before. She rushed out of her room and bumped into Zelda who was also coming out of her own room.
" Finally the party girl is awake! I've to get to work because I'm running late. See you later and make sure you take some painkillers. " She said and quickly went to the kitchen to fetch herself a glass of water.
" You're really leaving me at home. I feel like my head is about to explode, I'm never going to drink myself to stupor ever again. " She grumbled as she walked into the kitchen and sat on the mini-bench.
" Keep on kidding yourself! Goodbye. " Alessia said and bolted out of the house to the garage as she got into her outdated Camry, she ignited the engine and drove off.

Marcus couldn't help but fume in anger in his car as he had to wait in the traffic. He stared out the window and watched the weak humans going about their boring lives as he drove. He owned one of the biggest technical companies in the whole city and worked alongside humans, yet he still felt great hatred for them. Watching them in disgust, as some walked on the pedestrian lane and some in their cars making unpleasant noises with the horn of their cars. The traffic was horrible today when suddenly a little outdated Camry cut him off before he could overtake the car in front of him, he groaned at the audacity of a human to overtake him.
He revved his engine and drove off in speed passing the Camry as he overtook the small car.
As he pulled into the carpack of his company, he got out of his Mercedes Benz and closed the door, staring at the tall building standing tall in its full glory. He was back in the company after being away for two weeks.
He majestically made his way into the building as he passed through the reception and he could feel the penetrating gazes of those annoying humans on him as he passed through, he walked into the elevator and pressed the button to the floor he was going to and the door was about closing only for him to hear the sounds of a female breathing and clicking of heels on the tiles, he looked up and his eyes met with those big brown eyes and he felt his heart skipping a beat. What was she doing here?! His wolf yelled the word "mate" in his mind and tried to take control of his human body, not so that he shifted but so that he could talk instead of his human, he could feel his hand sweating as his wolf was about to take over his body, the feeling of want and he was undeniably drawn to her and he knew she feel the same because of the way she stared at him, she must be shocked seeing him again. But before they could both come back to reality, the door to the elevator closed and all Marcus could do was watch the closed doors in confusion and anger.
Why the hell would a human be his mate, was it a mistake? But he knew it wasn't a mistake and a human truly was his mate. How could Goddess Selene do this to him after knowing he despises the humans with all his heart?
Alessia stood dumbfounded by the scenario that had just happened. She had just seen the same dangerous man from last night in the company she was going to start working in. Could it be a coincidence?! Or he was actually stalking her?! Though, she wouldn't deny the fact that he was devilishly handsome and his face was an example of perfection but she couldn't help the fact that she still felt affected by his gaze and quickly rushed into the next empty elevator.
Getting to the floor where her department was located, she was led to her new private office by a secretary and was amazed by how beautiful her office was. She also got introduced to other employees and got some polite remarks from others and while some just sneered at her, she honestly had no idea why.
Hours later......
Marcus wasn't able to get his mind focused on the work he had to do because his mind kept drifting to her. In particular those big brown eyes that stared at him in shock. If this human truly was his mate then he would have no choice but to reject her and ask for another mate which he hopes Goddess Selene would grant him.
Duncan walked into the office as he was surprised to see his Alpha deep in thought, he couldn't believe his eyes.
"The vampires are trying to block our parts." He said and this made Marcus raise his head up as his eyes darkened at the mention of vampires.
"Get straight to the point." He demanded.
"Kane is in the human world and he's going to be taking some humans with him." He replied.
"Wasn't he supposed to still be in his coffin for the next ten years? Why is he awake?!" Marcus asked, annoyed.
Marcus and Kane had been enemies for many years, ever since the day that Kane took off instead of helping him, but upon hearing Kane was in the human world he felt his anger building up.
To be continued...
Alessia looked at some of the paintings and flooring samples she found in her folder as she observed the offices, looking for what furniture or designs would fit in perfectly in them, and also measuring the size of tables and also the ventilation of each office as she planned everything out on her tablet.People looked at her and although they knew she was a professional, they were also mesmerised by her beauty.Alessia asked her secretary to arrange a meeting with the bosses for her as she had to show them the plan and let them go through it and state their opinions of her designs. She's really starting to like her new job but her mind often drifts to that man. Her secretary arranged the meeting into which the bosses agreed to, so they were now seated in the boardroom as all eyes focused on Alessia who stood at the front of the whole room, her eyes drifted to the two empty seats, one at the ending of the table which seems to be the chair of the CEO and another one beside the CEOs ch
In the night.Alessia laid on the bed as her thoughts drifted back to the night before, when her gaze met with that weird man. Why does she feel so affected by him?! It seems an unknown force keeps drawing her to him even though they had just met a day ago. She was sure not going to get enough of this because another scary man was also staring at her intently, which scared the hell out of her but didn't allow her expression to be visible enough to create any suspicions from Zelda. Her head began to form worry lines as she thought about it, then the ringtone of her phone interrupted her thoughts, she sat up from her bed and picked her phone from the mini-table beside her bed.The caller ID was her mum and she smiled, she really needed to hear the voice of her mother. It has been a long time since she last visited the house of her mother."Hey hun, you okay?""Yeah, I'm good, thanks, you?" "Yes, thanks. Are you eating enough? Do you need anything?" "I don't need anything, mum. How's
The morning goes by quickly with Alessia ordering and placing the designs where it was supposed to be. Her mind was occupied with work but that didn't stop her from thinking about that strange man, she was fond of calling him strange since she didn't know his name.Alessia was talking to one of the workers appointed to her when Collins, one of her colleagues, walked up to her with a charming smile." You're such a hard-working and beautiful lady, Alessia " he complimented and Alessia smiled in return. She knew that Collins had an eye for her since she started working here but she doesn't feel anything for him because he wasn't her type, or maybe she has no specific type in a man." Thank you, Collins. You're not too bad yourself. You appear so charming. " She replied and that made his smile widen. He appeared to be handsome but she felt nothing for him." I just wanted to ask, if we could go out tonight for dinner. " He said." I... "" Please don't reject my offer. It's just a friend
Marcus didn't understand why he reacted like that but he had to. He doesn't want her but he also doesn't want her to be with anyone else, it's like a game of tug of war going on in his head." And, who are you to her?! " Collins asked nervously, as he stared at Alessia for an explanation." You wouldn't want to find out who I am, because if you try to, you will only end up digging your own grave. " The deliberate solemn in his voice made Collins shiver all over in fear as his eyes were wide with terror. Who could this man be to Alessia?! Could this impulsive man be her boyfriend?! For him to threaten him and claim possession of her the way he did earlier, it all made sense to him that this man must either be Alessia's lover or boyfriend." I'm sorry, I didn't know she was already taken. " He faked a giggle as he stood up to take his leave, his hands trembling due to the intense gaze of Marcus, he tried not to look into his eyes as he quickly walked away. Alessia just sat still, watch
Thursday morning.Alessia walked into her office only to be informed that all her orders had arrived and her secretary had signed the paperwork as the receiver, but when she inspected the delivery, she came to know that some things were missing or rather not delivered and that made her really disappointed. She didn't have any other choice but to go back to the mall to sort out the mix up.Alessia checked everything else had been delivered and was right, before leaving the office, getting into her car and making her way to the mall where she had originally ordered the items from. The whole journey there she hoped that this problem would be able to be peacefully rectified, especially as the paperwork had already been signed to say that everything was present and accounted for. After a while Alessia pulled onto the mall's car park and parked her car.Alessia walked into the mall, passing the security guards dressed in their uniforms. As usual a salesgirl walked to her, but it wasn't the
After making sure that the mix-up was sorted out, even though he still didn't show himself to his staff and just made a few calls to the manager, everything was resolved. Alessia left his office happy but with a hazy look, but just a drop of her blood had sent him into a frenzied hunger and he couldn't help wanting to feed on something warm and fresh to satisfy his bloodlust.Kane had to get out of there, he had to leave his office before he slaughtered everyone there and feasted on their blood. He looked at the door to his office, but knew that he wouldn't be able to use that as his exit without being seen by someone and stopped. He looked to the window overlooking the vast and beautiful woods, deciding that it would be the perfect getaway. He opened it as wide as he could and then jumped out. He landed on his feet and immediately took off running towards the woods. Once under the cover of the trees he stopped and closed his eyes. He started listening for a heartbeat, sniffing the a
In the midst of her morning haze, Alessia's eyes fluttered open, two thoughts struck her.Firstly, She accepted her mother's proposal to come spend the weekend with her. And secondly, she was going to her mother's house today and she doesn't know what awaits her.She ran a lazy hand through her messy hair, as she stood up from her bed and robotically began grabbing the things she was going to take to the cottage as she began placing them into her suitcase. When she was sure she had finished packing all her things, she walked into the bathroom to take a shower. Although she had to go to work soon, she would make sure to return early so she would have a chance to head to the cottage. She double checked and was satisfied to see that her suitcase was properly packed. She walked into the living room, seeing her best friend Zelda on the couch, watching TV, she couldn't help but smile." Good morning. Aren't you going to work today? " She teased, knowing fully well that Zelda was a lazy ass
Alessia walked through the tiny hallway to the kitchen after changing into her comfortable sweatpants and singlet. Immediately, the rich aroma of cheese floated to her nostrils, and she sighed in content the second she saw her mother dishing out their dinner on a plate. " It smells so lovely. I've really missed you and your home-made meals. ""Well you're here now and the food is ready, so dig in." Her mother replied, placing the plates on the kitchen table, but when Alessia looked she couldn't help wondering why there were only two plates being served and that was when she realised someone was missing and she hadn't seen him since she had been back." Mom, what about Martin?! " She asked curiously, watching her mother's expression. Her mother looked up, but her face went as white as a ghost, like there was something wrong but Alessia didn't know what. She tried figuring out what could be going on in her mum's mind, but before she could come up with any ideas her mother looked at her
