This novel contains mature (18+) content. Since English is not my native language, I apologize in advance for any mistakes you may come across. Thank you for your patience and understanding. 😊 Happy reading! ā¤ļø *** Bloom is a wolf-less hybrid. Cassian is the future Alpha. As they struggle to discover whether they're truly fated mates, they do everything they can to keep their distance from one another. But as Bloom uncovers the long-buried secrets of her ancestors and war looms on the horizon, how much longer can they resist the irresistible pull between them? *** "Don't you ever," he said. His lips slowly drifted down to my neck. He bit and sucked hard. "You are never running from me again." "I'm sorry—" I gasped, trying to speak. I shivered as his tongue found that sensitive spot behind my ear. "Don't apologize." His hand slid down my side, bunching the fabric of my clothes in his fist. "Surrender." Such a heat pooled between my legs that I wanted to squeeze them together, but Cass was right there. "Cass—" "You're mine. Tell me you're mine, Bloom." From the hem of my shorts, his fingers slowly slid up my thigh. "Say it." "I—" His fingers reached the button of my shorts, undoing it. My breath caught. "Say it, Bloom." His voice was rough. His hand found the edge of my underwear, leaving me speechless. "If you don't tell me, I'll assume you don't want this, and I'll stop" he said. I panicked. I didn't want him to pull away. "I'm yours," I gasped out. "Damn it, I've always been yours—" His fingers stroked me through my underwear, feeling how wet and aching I was. "God," he whispered. "You're soaking wet."

Chapter 1 Bloom

The heavy wooden door to my room burst open with a deafening crash, as if a storm had been unleashed on the other side.

The sound of it slamming against the wall echoed through the dimly lit room, making me flinch. My eyes snapped toward the doorway, and it felt as though a boulder weighing a thousand pounds dropped straight onto my chest.

It was Cassian.

No...

It definitely wasn't Cassian.

The towering figure standing in the doorway radiated something so raw, so savage, so overwhelmingly wolf that the air seemed to vanish from the room. The temperature plummeted in an instant.

But the most terrifying part...

His eyes.

The icy blue that had always reminded me of a raging snowstorm was gone. In its place was nothing but endless, absolute black.

The moment I saw him, I knew. Axel had taken over completely.

"Axel..." I whispered, my voice trembling. "What are you doing? Where's Cassian?"

Axel's jaw tightened. The unwavering determination in his gaze stole the breath from my lungs. He closed the distance between us until his face was only inches from mine, his warm breath brushing across my lips.

"You're going to listen to me, Bloom." His voice was sharp with command, yet the fire burning beneath it sent heat racing through my veins. "I'm done with this ridiculous, stubborn game the two of you keep playing. You and Cassian are both too damn stubborn."

"If you keep pushing me away, keep pretending this bond doesn't exist, and keep hiding behind your lies..." His voice dropped into something darker—something dangerously primal. "...I'll strip every last wall you've built around yourself until you surrender to me... and to this bond. I'll make damn sure you hear me, Bloom."

A normal woman should have been terrified by a threat like that.

I knew that. Didn't I?

But something completely different happened inside me.

Instead of fear, my heart pounded with a wild, intoxicating heat that rushed through every vein in my body. There was something about Axel—something dark, primitive, impossibly dominant—that awakened a part of me I didn't even know existed.

I couldn't look away. If anything...

I only found myself falling deeper into that dangerous darkness.

I pressed my legs together, trying to quiet the ache growing inside me. My lips parted on their own.

When Axel saw the surrender in my eyes... the desire I could no longer hide... one corner of his mouth lifted into the faintest smirk.

His expression softened. Only slightly. Never enough to lose that commanding edge.

"Believe me when I say this," he murmured. "This cold war between us is over, Bloom. The choice isn't yours anymore. If you try to build those walls between us again..." His smile deepened, his voice melting into a low, sinful whisper. "...I know exactly how to make you submit."

His eyes locked onto mine. "And trust me..." "...you're going to enjoy every second of it."

The silent fire that had burned between us for months finally erupted. Axel crashed his lips against mine with fierce, possessive hunger.

There was nothing gentle about the kiss. It was wild. Primitive. Claiming.

As his lips devoured mine, the air disappeared from my lungs. It felt as though my soul was being pulled toward him, drawn by a force I no longer had the strength—or the desire—to resist.

My fingers slipped into his hair, pulling him even closer. The emptiness inside me—the hollow ache I'd carried for so long—began to disappear beneath the fierce, life-giving warmth of his love.

Every place our bodies touched ignited with electricity, chasing away every trace of the icy air that had filled the room only moments before. When we finally pulled apart, both of us breathless, he rested his forehead against mine.

Our chests rose and fell together as we shared the same shaky breaths. Without ever letting go of me, Axel slowly guided me backward until the backs of my knees touched the bed.

We lay down together.

His massive body settled beside mine. One arm slipped beneath my head while the other wrapped securely around my waist, pulling me completely against the solid warmth of his chest.

Our legs tangled together naturally. I closed my eyes and breathed him in, my back resting against him. Tomorrow night...

I would walk into the endless darkness of the spirit realm. Maybe... I wouldn't come back.

Maybe I would be walking toward my own death. But right now...

Wrapped safely in his arms, feeling those unwavering black eyes watching over me from behind, I had never felt stronger.

Surrounded by Axel's fierce, possessive presence... his warmth... and the steady rhythm of his heartbeat, I felt safe.

Protected. For the first time in months.

And with that feeling carrying me, I closed my eyes and surrendered myself to the darkness... and to the battle waiting for me tomorrow.
