I’m tired of this place. Everything here reeks of smoke and decay witches muttering in corners, candles burning blue, shadows whispering secrets I don’t want to hear.

“Mom,” I said, stepping into the room. “How long do we have to stay here? These witches creep me out.”

Her eyes didn’t leave the bubbling cauldron. “Until I say so,” she replied. “We’re not finished.”

“Finished with what?” I frowned, crossing my arms. “You’ve been acting strange ever since that dinner. Ever since you saw her,Maya.”

That name made her hand tighten on the spoon. “Don’t mention that girl to me,” she hissed. “She’s dangerous. She carries an old power, something that should’ve died centuries ago.”

“Then what are we doing here?” I asked. “You’ve got rogues spying in the pack, you’re whispering to witches… this doesn’t make sense.”

She finally turned, her eyes cold and sharp. “It makes perfect sense. The pack is divided. Their trust is breaking. Once Maya is gone, the rest will crumble.”
