The sudden change in the atmosphere weighed heavily on me ever since I realized I’d have to say goodbye to my mate soon. Three months felt both too far and too close.

Every day since then, I tried to make her remaining time here memorable. If she was leaving, I wanted her to carry nothing but good memories of us home.

And so far, it was working. Maya had been winning hockey championships left and right; her name echoed through the school halls like a chant of pride. Everyone talked about her , the girl who could skate like lightning. I couldn’t be prouder.

One afternoon, as I was finishing up reports in the pack house, the door opened and Dr. Erin stepped in, her expression brighter than usual.

“Alpha Liam,” she said softly, “I thought you’d want an update on Fiona.”

I stood up immediately. “Please tell me it’s good news.”

She nodded. “It is. Her body has accepted the healing completely. The damage is gone ,she just needs to wake up on her own now.”
