Call 911

Busty was clever and quick-witted. She was fun to be with her troubles, not for the worse but for the better. Her slender hourglass physique made her look like a five or six. It was surprising she was 3.

"I called to check up on you and Grandma. How is she now?"

" You do? How"

"I went for a check-up yesterday at Darren's Hospital and while I and doctor Darren were still conversing, he told me of a person who had memory loss. I insisted on seeing who it was and I saw Grandma"

"Yes.." her voice became lower, flatter, and softer. Cold tears start to stream down his ashen cheeks.

"Hey c'mon, I want you to be okay. Wipe your tears now.." she grins

"Ok ma'am"

"I care about you okay? She will be fine."

"I believe she will be fine. I have no one else" she sniffs

"Don't say that. You have people. I'll send fifty dollars to you for your upkeep and if grandma is ok?"

"Thank you, ma'am. I appreciate"

"That reminds me, you can come for work anytime okay...it's based on you."

"Thank you so much, ma'am"

"I'll call you later. Bye"

What she never expected to happen was just before her. She wished it didn't happen, not this way. She gave herself a leave, at least, she had gotten stuff from the grocery store and still had lots remaining.

In the morning, the sun was yet to shine its light as it was too early and the weather cold and not harsh. The birds kept chirping, and the breeze was cool. The leaves of the plants are covered from the dew drops. The level of noise pollution in the mornings is less compared to the other times of the day.

The light of dawn seeped into her room. She rubbed her bleary eyes and walked to the window. There was a pearly glow in the sky. She allowed the breeze to brush through her face giving her positive vibes for the day.

"I wish all morning would be beautiful and calm, forgetting all the pains and not having sorrow". She thought aloud.

"Buzz, buzz" the phone vibrated on the nightstand continually. She rushed to check who was the caller but no name was on it except for a description.

"Hello, good morning. I'm now calling for Maria" the voice was booming and feathery.

"I'm Maria. Good morning" she said with a straight face. She drifted slowly from her window to her bed.

" I have a package for you and I need you to sign for confirmation of collection. It's at your doorstep" he said.

"I'll be right there in no time". She said putting on her night robe to cover the sleeveless she wore. She piped at Grandma's Rome to know if she was awake but her door was still closed as it was last night.

"Hello"

"Hello. You just sign here" he points to a spot on the file.

"Thank you. My regards"

She watched as he walked towards his bike, masked himself with his helmet, and rode away waving goodbye over his head.

The package in front of her was packed perfectly with a red, pink, and blue ribbon tied up in a bow. She took them by closing the door behind her then dropped them on the large center table made of glass, transparent at the top and opaque beneath.

She took a breath and the freezing air went into her lungs and she felt them going into spasm. She gasped and more cold air went into her lungs and it was as if she were drowning, ready to unveil her present from the unknown sender.

"What!" Her heartbeat began to accelerate and her hands became twitchy. Her eyes widened as fear gripped her. She piped through the glass into the thick bush and then looked round the house.

She rapped at the package when a note fell off one of them inscribed on it SEE YOU SOON. She quickly folded the paper into the box when warbled, demonic snarling like that of a Tasmanian Devil was heard just near and distant creepy movements and eerie haunting winds frightened her.

Fear became a tangible, living force that crept over her like some hungry beast, immobilizing her; her brain, holding me captive of her.

"Imogen" grandma called bringing her out of her fears to reality.

"Mu..mum, you're awake". She rushed to see mum in her room looking back at the package

Chapter seven

She named it Maria's cake. It is one of the best restaurants in the kerkstraat area and everyone would go there for cakes. It has an incredible atmosphere, wonderful service, and amazing food and it is in a great location.

As you walk through the door of The Cake Bake Shop, you are instantly greeted by the staff. They dressed in a custom pink and white uniform that closely resembles that of an old bakery uniform. They keep everything in the restaurant clean and well-maintained. No one has ever felt unwelcome or uncomfortable while eating there.

Maria's cake Shop has a very European and Parisian decorative style. The restaurant is in a small, all-white cottage house, which has a very warm and cozy feeling to it. The inside is decorated with crystal chandeliers, pink and white lights, marbled tables, and giant pink petal trees. It feels as if you are eating at a café in Paris. At the back of the restaurant, there is a long rectangular window that allows customers to watch the desserts and pastries being made. Quiet jazz plays throughout the restaurant, which adds to the overall atmosphere making it very peaceful and relaxing.

She thought it wise to stop her shoe-making work and do something that will bring more income for her upkeep and that if grandma and luckily she found one named after her name. It was owned by Mrs. Olivia.

So many people had filled the cake shop and you could see happiness written on their faces while eating. A young man having a buff physique walked in.

He was of average height, fair in complexion, and wore a Shayla. His Roman nose and half-dome cheekbones sat above an oaken jaw. His wrestler’s shoulders were part of his burly physique. He walked with a tiger-like tread and his nomad-blue eyes twinkled. His scythe-shaped eyebrows gave his face a wonderful piece.

"Hello!" It was obvious Maria was lost in his physique

"Oh hello. What's your order?" She asked slowly, drifting away from looking at him to the order file that was in front of her.

It had butter cake, pound cake, chocolate sponge cake, and many others.

"I'll go for the chocolate sponge cake"

" Ok. It cost 3 dollars" she said, taking up the fancy nylon beneath the counter to put his package. She saw the same inscription that was on her package on his Palm written boldly. She was surprised. So many things went through her mind but she couldn't tell

"What's your name, Sir?" She asked

"Lanthe but you can call me lan" he stretches out his hand for a handshake.

"Nice to meet you"

"Nice to meet you too".

He bowed his head as if he was ill or something just happened then excused himself using the door. Maria was as snow white without malice, treachery, or evil intent and that made people admire her but not all were true. Her work closes by 8:30 pm and that was pretty dangerous for her.

It was nearly midnight, and the night sky was picturesque. A black-to-navy gradient was the backdrop for a full moon; the night sky was so clear you could almost see every crater. The moon, a glowing yellowy white, loomed large, surrounded by an ethereal glow. Millions of stars were sprinkled behind it, a few large ones but mostly a multitude of little white pinpricks. Now and then, a twinkle caught her eye. This was an unfamiliar sight from her city life, where the lights never went down, perpetually hiding the beauty of the nighttime sky.

The tall trees on the path danced in praises for the day, moving their branches from side to side. Sounds of cricket chirping and croaking from the frogs were heard louder than the night birds. They gave the best nature song for the night.

Maria, who was walking alone, listened carefully to nature as he walked down the street. She remembered the man she met at the cake shop but what surprised her was the same write-up. She got to her house weaving tonight to get a good rest.

Grandma was in the sitting room but she was just staring.

"Mum! I missed you so much" she hugged her passionately, not ready to lose her grip.

"I brought a chocolate cake for you. I hope you'll love it."

She began tugging her hand into the paper bag she held but was distracted by the sudden wind that blew into the room from the door.

"Maria" the voice sounded so deep-toned and hard.

His reflection wasn't seen in the mirror that was by the wall away from the door. He began to move towards Maria and her grandma. Grandma saw the scene. Soon, his blue eyes turned to red and this heart-flat-shaped lip revealed his face. His nail and fingers changed to that of an ancient animal and suddenly another male appeared inside filled with wrath. He was 7.2 fit on his fur having a crescent moon on his forehead. His golden eyes became light red and he looked more powerful than the vampire. He was larger and brutish in appearance. He growled and the first was transformed fully.

Grandma saw this slum. Maria was stiff, looking at grandma lying lifeless on the couch. The two creatures stopped to argue and watch Maria as they both transformed into their human form.

"No-o-o-o-o-o-o!" She wept uncontrollably. That was her last hope. She had no one again. She stood up gently to her feet, her eyes filled with tears rolling with no obstruction.

"You!" She turned to scream at the top of her voice but they were gone. She was speechless not thinking of the scene but of grandma. Mr. Darren wasn't there to help so she called 911.
