~Lindsey~ I stretch as my alarm clock rings shrilly. I reach over and hit it a bit harder than necessary before rolling out of bed. I’ve felt nauseous ever since my conversation last night with Hunter. We’ve rarely ever argued over something this important. I had always believed he wanted what’s best for me and would support me in whatever decision that I would make. I tell myself that maybe he’ll come around. Maybe he will see how much Brady and I love each other and understand why I can’t be with Jagger. I head to the bathroom to wash my face and get ready for the day. I’ve tried to put a little more care into my appearance. I’ll be luna in a few years, and I don’t want to look like a slob. Not that I’m dressing like a model or anything. Just abandoning my comfy sweats and leggings for weekends. I pull on skinny jeans and a thin sweater since today is supposed to be cooler with the rain moving through. Just makes me wish I could stay home and curl up with a good book.

~Lindsey~ I feel the tension between Jagger and Hunter. It’s so thick you could cut it with a knife. I look between the two, realizing that Hunter is pushing Jagger to be with me, which honestly doesn’t surprise me. He would get his wish: me back in White Fang. “How odd. Especially since mates are so highly regarded. Surely your advisor,” I look at Hunter, “must know the importance of the mate bond. ~Brady~ The second Lindsey walks through my door I’m stunned. Her dress brings out her eyes, making them almost glow. The slight shimmer from the diamonds give her an ethereal appearance, almost like she is the goddess of the forest. “You gonna say anything?” She asks shyly. ~Lindsey~ Luna Maci’s plan worked just like she said it would. I make my way down the hallway, killing the tipsy act. I only had one glass of wine. While it was quite strong, I indulged with Jagger some in the past, though it was beer and not wine. My tolerance isn’t strong by any means, but I only feel slightly more relaxed than normal. ~Lindsey~ Neither of them will tell me anything except that I’m needed at the packhouse immediately. I’m silently praying that this means Dad is ok. If he was injured, we would be headed to the hospital. If he was dead, I would have to confirm his body as his next of kin. I try to hope for the best as Logan leisurely makes his way down the road. I stare out the window to pass the time. I haven’t been to this part of the pack before; it’s mostly industrial with a few houses arranged in neighborhoods. We pass a couple of apartment complexes and some office buildings. The little shack on the edge of town looks odd in comparison with the hustle and bustle that’s taking place. Soon, I start to recognize some buildings and road names. The closer we get to the packhouse, the more the butterflies churn in my stomach. When we pull into the driveway, I almost feel ready to hurl. “This way,” Grant says as Logan opens my door. “And Lindsey, I’m sorry about today. I’m still learning too.”
