LOGIN~Brady~ Jagger’s story had Knight ready to break out. He kept saying that he was trying to steal her from us, that this was him making a claim. One touch from her had him settling in the back of my mind, curled up like a pup. I’m sure Colton sensed my frustration as well, thus his comment. “Well she has yet to confess her love to me,” I say confidently, despite what I feel on the inside, “but she kept me on my toes that day. And every day since.” I smile at Lindsey, who is blushing at being in the center of attention. I can tell she’s not very comfortable at the moment. “Sounds about right. She had a bad habit of telling me off. But I will say most of the time it was warranted.” He hasn’t stopped looking at her, and all I want to do is reach over and smack that stupid smirk off his face. “Yeah well you and Brady are very different.” She says picking up her fork. “Do tell.” He challenges. “I hardly think this is the appropriate place for a pissing contest,” she says
~Lindsey~ I can’t believe Callie’s wild accusations against Jagger. She barely knows him and is already accusing him of having ulterior motives. I’m sure he just needs allies to take back White Fang from his dad. Black Forest is one of the strongest packs in the region; it’s understandable why he would come here. Despite my greatest efforts, Callie won’t listen to reason. “Lindsey I’m telling you. He has one purpose on this trip: it’s to get you back. You don’t have to agree. But don’t be surprised when I get to say I told you so.” “Excuse me girls,” Dad interrupts. “Lindsey, Luna Maci wants us to sit with them this evening. She thinks it will help Jagger to feel at ease.” I flinch at the statement. Things still aren’t great between me and Brady; I’m worried this will get awkward. “Um ok Dad. If that’s what she wants,” I respond hesitantly. “Lindsey, be careful,” Callie warns me. I sense the concern and sincerity in her voice. I know she’s worried about me getting hurt aga
~Brady~This afternoon has felt like torture. Knowing that Jagger might take Lindsey away from me and having to play the kind host is the worst. Not to mention he made a phony excuse for needing fresh air when pack members started arriving. I knew he was going to wait for Lindsey to arrive. It hurt like hell seeing them walk in those doors together, like they were meant to be. John was standing between them, and I could tell he was uncomfortable. At least I know he’s not a fan of them being together either. Maybe I can use that to my advantage. I saw her lead him over to her friends and introduce them. Thanks to my alpha hearing, I know Callie isn’t his biggest fan, which I also plan on exploiting when the time is right. I’m curious as to how Callie knows so much. I’m sure Lindsey told her about her past with Jagger, but that doesn’t explain how she knew that Jagger’s mate was dead or why she thinks Jagger is here for Lindsey. “Dude, your biggest ally right now might be Cal
~Lindsey~My jaw drops. I see the pain in Jagger’s face and I know he’s not lying. I get a sick feeling in my stomach. “What happened?” I say, my voice barely above a whisper. “Rogue attack. They were ambushed.” Jagger looks down. I see a tear in his eye. “When?” “About a month ago.”I reach out and wrap him in a hug. “I can’t imagine what you’re going through. What I do know is that Gemma loved you. Carry that in your heart. She will always be with you.” “I was able to see her before she died. She basically told me the same thing.” He smiles, though I know he feels pain. “Why don’t we all go inside? Looks like rain.” Dad says, guiding us towards the packhouse. He steps between us, putting one hand on each of our backs. Now I realize he already knew Jagger was coming; it explains his questions in the car. Once inside I smell sandalwood: Brady. I look around and finally catch his eyes. I smile gently, and he returns the gesture before looking away. “So you made some new friend
~Lindsey~Lunch goes by quickly; Logan decided to sit at the table next to ours and make loud comments the entire time that I’m sure he intended us to hear. I almost feel sorry for him; Callie was ready for any remark he had to say. Calculus and gym seem to fly by. We’re working on softball this week, another sport I don’t have much experience with. Thankfully, Deanna and Callie both do, so they’re able to offer some much needed help. Coach Mabry handles workouts today after school. I guess the guys had some alpha business to attend to. Apparently we will be working on self defense for the foreseeable future. While I don’t mind it, the mundane practice of doing the same things every day is exhausting. I don’t look forward to it. We take turns being the attacker or the victim. It drags on for what feels like hours. Every few reps we swap partners with someone just to keep our guards up; you never know who or what is going to come at you. Coach finally calls it a day. “Be on the
~Brady~ The rest of the morning flies by. A small part of me feels lighter after making amends with Lindsey, but I still feel the need to win back her favor. Knight and I have been discussing little ways to improve our situation. We’re headed to science class when all of a sudden I feel an arm slung around my neck. “So the vibe is off. What happened between you and Lindsey?” Logan asks curiously. “Just had a little spat. Nothing major.” I respond casually. “Oh cool. So you’re not serious about her then?” He eyes me suspiciously. “I mean I’m still attracted to her. We just decided to take things slowly.” I try to be as vague as possible. The last thing I want is anyone pursuing her. “So she’s fair game now? Cool. May the best man win, cousin,” he winks at me and jogs off. I feel a sickness in the pit of my stomach. I silently plead with the moon goddess not to let Lindsey fall into Logan’s snare. I just want another chance. “Dude you look sick. What the hell is wrong w
~Brady~ This is perfect. Not only do I have a chance to get back at Colton and Grant for the stunt they pulled last week, but I get to see Lindsey in action. There’s not much hotter than a couple of girls fighting it out. Plus she’s wearing some tight leggings and a long sleeve crop top that hug
~ Lindsey ~ Who does this alpha asshole think he is? I meet his gorgeous blue eyes dead on, mischief and arrogance lace his features. “Uh I guess showing me where my classes are since, ya know, that’s your job.” After I make my intentions clear I turn away from him and try to create as much dista
~Lindsey~ We ate our dinner in near silence. After the episode I just had, the shock was still wearing off. My stomach was tied in knots as my mind replayed my dream over and over again. Those three words haunted my soul. “You’re all mine.” I’d rather die than be his, which may be my fate if h
~Lindsey~ After shopping we take a quick grocery run to pick up some fresh fruit, vegetables, and meat. There were basic essentials and shelf stable items already in the house, but Dad believes in cooking healthy meals. Probably the doctor in him feels a little hypocritical telling others to do t
