Do I worry about taking the life of someone or do I revel in the feelings bubbling inside of me? Dacre had taken me off guard and despite my multiple protests kept advancing toward me.

My first instinct was to run away, to fight him, and to even bite hard into his hand holding the dagger. But, all of them vanished when he did the unexpected and leaned in to kiss me.

Of all the things I would have imagined him to do to me, this was the least. I should have protested hard, should have kicked him where the sun didn’t shine.

But the moment his lips touched mine, it was as if all logic flew out of my head.

There was something about him that was odd…different. Like he was different from the rest of us.

Whatever this ‘different’ meant!

When his fingers brushed my bare back, I shivered, not due to fear but due to pleasure. That was definitely not how a killer would touch his prey. There was something sensual about the way he touched me.
