PENIEL

I sniffed as I stared at him.

I wasn’t angry at him, I was ashamed of myself. My own father couldn’t care less about me, why would anyone care? It’s just a fucking circle of abuse that I was stuck inside. To think I had shamelessly given my body to him.

“Why do I get paired with people who don’t want me? Why me?” I mumbled to myself, my heart breaking in a million pieces.

“Please set me free,” I found myself pleading, he smiled at me as he leaned closer.

“I bought you, remember? You don’t get to tell me what to do,” He said, and I sighed tiredly, but I couldn’t help but ask.

“You don’t want me! Why did you make love to me?” I asked, hoping he could at least tell me he feels the same way I did because of the mate bond.

“You want to know how I feel?” He asked and I nodded.

“Lust, that’s what I felt. I just wanted to explore you!” He snapped, and I looked at the bed that was stained with blood.

“You monster! You just took my virginity all because of lust? I hate you! How could you!!” I yelled.

I’m crazy right? Because I didn’t say it out loud, I had just imagined saying those words to him, words I wasn’t brave enough to say to his face.

“I have someone I’m in love with, though she’s not my mate, I intend to spend the rest of my life with her, to me she’s my Luna,” He said, pointing at the picture I saw earlier.

My heart tightened inside of me, and I found it hard to breathe. I had to open my mouth so air could pass through.

I couldn’t bear it anymore. I attempted to leave, but he pulled me close, so close that our lips were inch apart.

“What’s your name?” He asked.

“Peniel Diego,” I sniffed.

“ Good!”

I sighed, wondering what he was up to, but his next words drained the life out of me.

“I Alpha Luciano Emilio, rejects Peniel Diego as my mate,” He said and my eyes widened in shock.

I could feel the piercing pain, coursing through my whole body as my body vibrates continuously. I stared at him, as tears flowed down, my eyes hurting already as I wondered what I’ve done to deserve this.

I was so damn foolish!

As I opened my mouth to ask why he’d do this to me. How could he reject me after taking my innocence? I had hoped he saw me more than just a treaty. How wrong was I!

As I battled with unheard painful emotions, I shut my eyes tightly only to open it with a resolve stronger than the pain.

Unexpected words ran out of my mouth.

“I, Peniel Diego, accept Alpha Luciano Emilio’s rejection,” I gasped, painfully.

The pain contradicted with the resolve in my words. I felt a lump in my throat when I realized what I had just done.

What if he chase me away, what would happen to my mom? What have I done! I made to run out of the room when the door brushed open and she walked in.

The woman I saw him with earlier, I watched as she gleefully passed me by.

“Julie.” He smiled as the woman walked closer to him.

She shrugged me off with a push as she walked up to him, kissing him on his lips while staring at me.

“He’s mine bitch, whether he’s your mate or not,” She said with a smirk, her eyes dangling between triumph and hidden jealousy.

“You knew? And you let him have his way with me?” I asked and she smiled.

“What should I have done? I wasn’t here when you were moaning like a loose dog,” She lashes out, and I chuckled dryly in confusion.

“You let your man cheat on you with someone else? Is that love?” I asked.

“Grow up kid, he’s an Alpha. He can have as many women as he wants. It’s his harem. Every other woman you saw earlier belongs to him. I just feel sorry for you because you think you’re entitled to him because he’s your mate,” She laughed sarcastically.

Her laughter seemed to have slowly woken me up. I wondered what I’ve gotten myself into.

To think I felt special.

He was the first man that treated me right, but I was wrong. She knew I was just an easier target to them, the weaker one.

The mate bond made me one.

“Leave, I’d call on you when I need you,” He said, ignoring our squabbles.

Without thinking twice, I hurriedly dragged my feet as I left the room. The last thing I wanted was to be anywhere near him.

As I walked out of the door, I saw the guard who brought me here earlier.

“Follow me,” He said and I slowly walked behind him. I was still feeling sore in between my legs.

“Move it bitch! I have no time to waste," he half yelled, sounding angry.

I hurried my step, wondering why he had a problem with me, someone I hadn’t met before.

After walking for some minutes, he got to a wooden door, and he stood in front of it.

“Here’s your room,” He gave me the keys and he walked away.

I sighed as I opened the door. One look at the room got me dejected. The room was nothing to write home about.

They was no bed in it, except for a wooden chair which I guessed was in place of the bed. I wasn’t in a position to be picky, so I laid down on the chair, ignoring the cobwebs around the room, I was really tired and I needed to rest:

I slowly closed my eyes and it didn’t take long before I fell asleep.

…..

“You think this is her room?” I heard a voice say inside my sleep.

“It is, the guard told me so,” Another whispered as the door crept open.

I heard their footsteps approaching and I slowly opened my eyes to see the lady that was glaring at me while I was being taken away by the guards earlier on. She was with another lady I couldn’t recognize.

“What’s going on here?” I asked as I hurriedly jumped down.

“So you’re the alpha’s mate?” She asked.

“Kimberly, it’s confirmed already. You don’t need to ask,” The other lady said to the mean one.

“You think you can just come here and take him away from us? I had to beg my father so he could allow me be part of Alpha Luciano’s harem, and you want to take that away from me?” She asked, while I stared at her, wondering why she’d do something like that.

“I never wanted to be here, I was forced to,” I replied.

Kimberly smirked and walked to me. “You were forced?” She asked with contempt as she suddenly grabbed my hair.

“You bitch!” She said pulling my hair harder.

“What are you doing!” I screamed, trying to push her away but she wouldn’t let me, having no other option, I grabbed her  hair and started pulling it too.

“Let go of my hair bitch!” She shouted and immediately other ladies rushed to us.

I thought she wanted to stop us from fighting, instead they ganged up on me and they beat the hell out of me, and this made me realize something.

Alpha Luciano was my hell, not my mate.

HALEYI took a breath, closed my eyes and called to my wolf.It hurt because the change came slower for me. It always did.My bones ached as they cracked and reformed. My skin stretched and burned as fur pushed through. My face lengthened, my teeth sharpened. For a few seconds I was neither human nor wolf, just pain and change.I felt myself drop to the ground, my spine curving, my senses sharpening. Then it was over. When I opened my eyes, I stood comfortably on four legs and the world looked different. Brighter. More detailed. I could smell everything. The trees. The grass. The dirt.I shook out my fur, getting used to the feel of it again. It had been a while.Rhea's wolf huffed, then stood up and turned and ran into the trees.I followed. We ran hard and fast, weaving through the forest like shadows. My wolf moved through the forest like she was born to it, leaping over logs, dodging branches, her paws barely touching the ground.Rhea set a brutal pace, leading the way. Her grey f

HALEYI turned to leave. My legs barely worked. They felt like they belonged to someone else. I managed to make it to the door, then stopped.“What about her?” I asked, not looking back at Olivia's body.“What about her?”“She deserves a burial. A proper grave at least.”Kael laughed again. “She deserves whatever I feel she deserves. Which is to rot. And she will. Right here. As a reminder.”I didn't say anything else. I just nodded and walked out of the room, down the hall, out the front door.Slow and steady, like I wasn't terrified out of my mind.Behind me, I heard the cabin door close.I kept walking.I breathed in the smell of clean, fresh air, stumbling away from the cabin, my feet moving on their own. The cold air hit my face and I sucked it in greedily, trying to scrub the smell of death from my lungs.I walked fast, not looking back, not stopping until I was deep in the forest. When I was far enough that I couldn't see the cabin anymore, I finally stopped and leaned agains

PENIELLuciano stepped closer, until we were toe to toe, his hands reaching up to cup my face. “I can't lose you, Peniel. I can't.”“You won't.” I reached up and touched his wrist. “But I have to do this. If there's even a chance…”“There's always a chance. That doesn't mean you take it.”“I'm not the same girl who got kidnapped before.” My voice was firm now. “I've trained with Rhea. I've fought. I've survived. I can do this. I can face him.”“Name one thing worse than Henry.”I thought about it. “Kael. Julie. The Angel.” I shrugged. “They're all monsters. The only difference is Henry is the one who made me.”“Face him alone? In the middle of nowhere? That's suicide.” Luciano shook his head. “I won't risk you.”“You won't be risking me. I'll have warriors with me.”“He said to come alone.”“Then don't let me go alone.” I looked at him. “You can have warriors hidden. You can follow me. He said come alone, but he won't know you're there.”“Besides, its obvious he said that because he's

PENIELThe gardens were really quiet these days.To be honest, I liked them like this. Peaceful. No servants rushing past. No warriors training nearby. Just the flowers and the bees and the warm sun on my face.I sat on a stone bench near the rose bushes, a book open in my lap that I wasn't really reading. My mind kept drifting, too full to comprehend the words on the page. But it gave me something to do with my hands.I thought about Luciano. The recent way he looked at me sometimes, like he was afraid I would disappear if he blinked.I thought about Haley, out there somewhere, playing a dangerous game. I thought about Preya, still in that bed, still not waking up.I thought about my father. The thought made me shiver even in the warm sun. Henry. Out there somewhere. Planning. Waiting.I pushed the thought away and tried to focus on the book.I heard the crunch of gravel as someone walked towards me but didn't look up.Until the shadow fell over me, blocking the sun. I raised my he

HALEY“N-no. I did what you said. I got close to her. I did everything.”“Did you?” The knife pressed harder. I felt another sting, more warmth. “Because from what I hear, you've been very cozy in that infirmary. Eating their food. Letting their healer fix you up. Getting real comfortable in that pack.”“I was playing the part. Like you told me to.”“Playing the part.” He laughed. It didn't sound nice.“And yet here you are, alone. No one followed you. No one's watching or peeping,” He paused. “Its almost like they trust you.”My heart pounded so hard I thought it would burst. “They don't trust me. They watch me every second, every hour of the day. I had to sneak out just to get here.”“Is that so?”“Yes. Please. I'm on your side. I've always been on your side.”He smirked, “Not with that dead body you won't.” I whimpered, my eyes going to the body, then quickly bouncing away.I couldn't look at her again. I stared at the floor, tears dripping off my face. The knife stayed on my throa

HALEYI pushed the door open. It swung inward with a long, low creak. Darkness stretched out, thick and oppressing. The smell hit me first. Decay. Blood. Rot. It was dark inside. The windows were covered up with boards, letting in only thin strips of fading light. I could see shapes. A table. Some chairs. I reminded myself that I wouldn't go into that room. The room where it happened. I'd leave the message if Kael wasn’t there and get out fast. No need to linger more than necessary.I stepped inside, one foot over the threshold.Took another, then one more.Fast. Too fast.An arm wrapped around me from behind. Cold metal pressed against my throat. A knife.I froze. My breath stopped.“Well, well, well.” The familiar voice sang in my ear. “Look who decided to come back and pay dear old me a visit.” He mocked.Kael.I couldn't move. Couldn't breathe. He pressed the knife harder against my throat, I hissed, feeling it nick the skin lightly.“Kael,” I said, his name calling out like a
