Let the games begin

I blinked, turning as slowly as possible to meet with the person from behind me.

“h-hi” I greeted, forcing a smile.

 “You should not be here” He said, his voice flat as he spoke.

"Do I… do I know you?”  I said, looking at him with the same smile even though I wanted to shit my pant.

“Alpha Ronan is to be here soon, I suggest you leave before he gets here” I blinked, looking at him with wide eyes.

I looked at his scarred face, wondering who the hell he was, and who exactly this Alpha Ronan was.

“I understand, but this Hut is mine… my mother’s” I gulped, feeling the lump at the back of my throat.

“Please leave” He said, the finality in his voice telling me that there was no room for correction. I sighed, looking at him for a moment before walking out, but not before snugging some of the potions that I could.

I looked at him. Not wanting to provoke him or anything.

“I understand” I said, raising my nose in the sky to show how unbothered I was even though I was deeply bothered on the inside. “I have to prepare for the mating ceremony either way” I said, rushing out of there before he could notice anything off.

I rushed back to the house, nearly tripping on my own two feet.

“I have to be smart about this” I muttered to myself, looking at the clock that hung on the wall.

I nearly cried at the thought. My dad had hung the clock on the wall few days ago and my mum hated the hell out of it. She claimed that she was just going to let him hang it for a week before she threw it away.

I blinked the tears away, “now is not the fucking time” I scolded myself, looking at the clock as though it could hear me.

I paced the room, looking at the potions I was able to grab. I smiled. These were more than enough if I wanted them to pay.

“I would be fine” I said, grabbing the things off the table as taking them to the bowl.

"Two can play it this way…”

“Anya, are you ready?” I heard Ethan’s voice as he knocked on the door. I froze. He might not have a clue as to what was going on, but I still did not want to risk it. “Anya, seriously…” I heard his footsteps climbing up the stairs. I panicked, using a veiling spell so he did not see what I was doing. “What are you doing?” he said, standing at the door. He came just in time as the mix disappeared.

I looked up, feigning surprise that he was here…

“I was…” I let out a sigh, looking at him like it was the first time I was seeing him or something.

“There is no time for this, you know how busy it’s going to get” I looked at him. There it was, that anxious look he gave to me like he did not trust me one bit.

“Fine, I will go get ready, see you in thirty” I said, forcing a smile as I skipped over to my room, adding extra steps so that he could buy my act. '

“Pathetic” He mumbled, still with a smile. I felt my joints lock but I still forced myself to push ahead, acting like I did not hear a thing he said when I heard it and when I was very much bothered.

“Would you be waiting?” I said, my heart slamming in my chest as I looked at him. I feared he would say yes, or say something about wanting us to go in together.

If that were to happen, there would be no way I can complete my plans.

He let out a sigh. “I wish we could, you know” his voice was overly sweet, not sounding at all like the venomous way he had called me pathetic when he thought I could not hear him.

I held my breath, my heart racing as I did as I prayed that he would say something else “But I have to check if the final preparations were in place” I nodded, feeling myself able to breathe as he said that.

“Take your time, I’ll meet you then” He nodded, giving me one last look before he went out. I rushed back to the table, uncovering everything before I continued my mix.

I finished with just a few minutes to the ceremony. I smiled. Feeling a burst of energy as I looked at the little bottle in my hand that took me almost an hour to prepare.

I rushed to the room, freshening up and throwing a new cloth then i took the portion.

“Let’s see if you like being toyed with the way i have been” I said, drizzling some into my hands and applying it all over my body.

It was a binding spell. As long as he did not mark me within the four hours using this, he was going to be bound to me except i broke it.

I could not help the smile that spread across my lips.

The thought of him being tied down to me while i was free to do whatever I wanted.. “I fucking deserved this” I said to myself. Applying the last bit of it before I walked out of the room and out of the house.

“You made it” He said, looking a little out of breath.

“Yeah” I said, coming closer to him.

I watched as he closed his eyes, taking in a bit of my scent.

“You smell divine” He said, moving wrap his hands around me

“Yeah.. You got a bit of a rash” I said, referring to the obvious hickey on his neck.

His hands stopped mid way. Rushing instantly to the spot. “You know I react to mosquitoes” He said, rubbing the spot with a bit of embarrassment.

I felt my hands tightened around the bag I was holding. Even now, they had the bloody audacity to do this, and he did not even have the decency to hide it from me. Basically shoving it in my face.

‘How long had it been like this'? I wondered, pitying myself for how foolish I was.

I shook my head shoving the thought out of my mind.

‘It does not even matter anymore, let the games begin..’ I thought, looking at him with a smile…
