Mag-log inI woke up somewhere in the middle of the night to a piercing pain.
It hurt. I took in a deep breath, trying to get rid of the pain but it was pointless.
The pain only intensified.
I bit back my lower lips, trying to keep the pain to myself. but it was impossible. The screams tore from my lips as my eyes blurred from the pain.
The guards rushed in, trying to shut me up but it did not work. They entered into the cell, trying to pull me out but it was a horrible idea “No!!!!” I screamed, almost begging them not to touch me, but they ignored me, pulling me out of the cell and out where the cool air could touch me.
I sighed for a while, the sensation stopping for a little bit ‘those fuckers’ I thought to myself, looking at the direction of the pack house. ‘They are actually mating’ I thought, the bitter feeling settling in my chest.
The pain started again, causing me to blink several times to get the pain to stop, but as usual, it was pointless. This time, the pain felt as though my gut was going to be ripped out.
“What is going on” I heard someone call, but it felt as though the person was speaking from a distance, everything felt hollow.
“She just… She just collapsed.” Another person said, panic very much evident in their voice.
“Help me” I said, stretching my hands hoping that someone would take it. But none. They looked at me like I was some plague before I passed out.

The constant beeping woke me up, sighing as I saw the white….
I sat up, looking around. This was nothing like the pack clinic.
“You are awake” those familiar voice that sent a ripple down my spine said, causing me to look at him. I turned my head, sizing him up.
He looked like he had not slept in days but somehow, he still looked absolutely gorgeous.
“I am sorry I was late” He said, the voice rolling of his tongue just the right way. “It was difficult…
“You came” I said, not able to stop myself from smiling like a lunatic.
He looked at me for a while, as though he was studying me. “Did you think I would not?” His face turned serious, looking at me for a full minute.
I felt uncomfortable under his gaze, looking at me like he was trying to get the answer out of my head directly.
“It’s just…. you are the Alpha of the biggest and the most fierce pack, I did not really think….”
“Now listen to me…” He said in this tone that gave no room for argument. I felt my lips seal p instantly, my throat tightening from the fear. “Nothing, comes above you, absolutely nothing” I nodded, even though I was finding it difficult to believe.
“Do you understand me?” He said, grabbing my hands, making me look straight into his eyes.
I tried not to flinch as he torched me, but he noticed, looking at me like I slapped him right across the face.
“Are you… Are you afraid of me?” He said, looking at me with something flashing in his eyes.
“No..” It was silent for a while “Yes…” He took in a deep breath. There was absolutely no spell that was going to save me from him if he decided to get mad at me. “I promise you, it’s not like that, I just…” He said nothing, looking at me for a while before he stood up to leave.
I bit my lips, trying to get him to come back but the words managed to stick to my throat.
I let out a sigh. Tugging at my hair “You just keep finding ways to fuck this up, don’t you?” I said to myself, looking at the wall beside me.
I sat in the same spot for what felt like hours, my bum going numb from sitting in one position for so long but I was too scared to move or even say anything in case he came back and did not find me in the exact spot that he left me in.
“Hey” a knock came from the door, making it’s way into the room before I could even say come in or otherwise.
“Hi?” I said, unsure of what to say.
“I am Vallery” she said, stretching her hands to me. I took it, looking at her sceptically as I did.
“I am..”
“I know who you are” She said sharply, cutting me off. “The whole pack has been talking about you since you came.”
I nodded “Oh” I said since I did not really know what to say.
“I wanted to see the person that would be taking my spot” it felt as though for a few minutes, my ears stopped working.
I blinked, looking at her for the longest “Excuse me?” My voice came out softly.
“Nothing for you to worry about actually.” She said with a smile. For some reason, her smile reminded me of Esme. “It was not going to work out. He was never mean, just acted indifferently around me, and since he came back from your pack, the mere mention of you made his eyes lit up in ways nobody even thought could be possible.
“Oh.” I said again.
“That seems to be the only thing you can say” She said, a look of worry on her face.
“I am sorry” I said. It was quiet for a while, with me barely able to think.
“I like your hair, is it natural?” I grabbed my hair, feeling very vulnerable with it.
Most packs were not tolerant of witches the only reason mine was, was because of my mum and the Alpha all those years back. He abolished the law against witches but you could still see the snares that some people gave us when we passed.
“I wold rather not talk about it” I muttered, tucking my hair behind my ears like it was going to do something significant.
She nodded, not saying anything for a while.
I cleared my throat, trying to ignore this awkward stare that she gave to me, like I was some specimen she was trying to figure out.
“I do love him though” She finally said, snapping me out of whatever daze I was in. I looked at her. “I hope you do know that I am not giving up that easy though…
I took in a deep breath, not wanting to wast my time on her. It was obvious, she was not in the right state of mind. ‘i just need to get out of here’ i thought, my vision bluring by the minute. “you know it’s pointless right? There is not need to fight it. Besides, the more you fight it, the weaker you get” she said, the smile on her face widening by the moment. I looked away from her, muttering every chant i could think off to get me out of the hold. “pathetic” she kissed her teeth as she spoke. “like i said before love, save your strength for-” the door burst open, revealing a very angry looking Ronan. “Ronan!!” i called, the relief in my voice as my voice shook. “what is the meaning of this?” he said, looking briefly from me to Esme who looked just as shocked. “how did you…” she started, looking at the people that surrounded us, pack guards. “i think there has been a misunderstanding” she said, smiling at him before him lunged. He side stepped, looking at me for a second befo
“You are not messing with me right? Because I swear…” She shook her head.“I mean it. I would not even dare to think about it” she said, looking at me with the most sincere eyes I had seen from her in a while. The door swung open, revealing Ronan who looked half asleep but still managed to look good.“There was an earth quake, I just wanted to check if you are good” His voice sounded like it was a routine, like he had asked everyone. I nodded, opening my mouth to ask another question before he tensed. His eyes zeroing in on Esme.“She is with me” I said immediately, stepping in front of her.He looked like he had a lot to say but then nodded, mumbling something about tightening the borders and all before he left.“Thank you” She said, looking at me with a smile on her face. “We should be leaving in now if we want to get…“Getting out is not as easy as getting in” I said, stopping her in her tracks.“Your head would be ripped off before you can even give an excuse.” I watched her face
I felt my blood drain from my face as I read the paper over and over, trying to make sense of what I was reading, even though it was absolutely clear.“Hey” Ronan said, coming into the room. It felt as the room had slowed down as I scrunched up the paper, hiding it from view. “I just…” He said, coming into the room to reveal a slice of bread on a plate. “I thought you might eat” He said, laying the plate on the table before he walked out.I did not miss it.The way he looked at me as though he suspected that I was hiding something from him. ‘Should I ask him if he indeed knows something?’ I thought, nearly slapping myself across the face because of the thought.“Thank you.” I said but he said nothing, just nodding as he walked out the room.I sighed. I opened the paper that I had squeezed in my had, looking at the paper again. It was nothing like the last time. The one from the last time was neat. Like the person had used a year to write one letter to make sure that it was perfect.Bu
“Excuse me?” I gasped, my Jaw hinging from its sockets.“We have known about being mates for a while now. Most people would have completed the mating ritual by now.” He looked me dead in the eye.“Yes, but most couples are not….”“Are not what? Me?” He said, taking the words right out of my mouth but I shook my head, trying to cover up the fact that I was still bothered by the fact that he was my mate.“No. I wanted to say that most people are not in the situation that I am in right now” I said, pointing to the little mark on my neck.“Very well then” He said, nodding “That makes a very good point. Both of us fell very quiet, the awkwardness fading into what I did not anticipate, tensionThe room felt too small for the two of us.I sat on the edge of the bed now, hands folded in my lap, painfully aware of Ronan across from me. He hadn’t touched me. Hadn’t even moved closer. And somehow that made it worse. The silence stretched, thick and charged, I watched him studying every curve and
“What?” I blinked, looking at her like she just swore that she was going to take my life away or something.“Oh you know, it must have been tough for you” she smiled, tilting her head to the side. “I don’t think it would be nice to just let you be without eating. Plus I have not seen you eat since I came here.” She said, bringing in a tray of food that made my mouth to water.“You did not have to” I said again, dragging my eyes away from the plate even as my stomach rumbled.“Oh come on” She said, placing the tray on my lap. “Don’t be difficult, now, eat” She gave this cynical smile that sent shivers down my spine.“I really do appreciate it but. I am not even hungry I just..” She was already picking up a piece of spoon full of porridge, as though she wanted to shove it down my throat, then I threw it.She moved back almost instantly, the food everywhere on the floor with a very stunned vallery in front of me. She blinked, looking at me like i had grown another head.“Are you out of y
“I… I am sorry okay? I just.. I just…” The words were stuck in my mouth, with me unable to say anything. He took a step towards me, making me take one back, trying to keep the distance between us.“I am…, I just… “ I tried again to get the words out “Please don’t hurt me” The tears were streaming down my eyes before I could stop myself, then he shifted. He looked at me long and hard not saying anything before he came close to me, picking me up from the ground.I was still, barely breathing so that he would not get annoyed. Ethan hated when I breathed a certain way, said I was irritating when I did that.“You need to relax. You just ran with your condition” He said in the most gentle voice I heard even with the rage still very much on his face “You risked your life Anya” He said, his tone sharp at the last part. I said nothing. He seemed to know that I was not going to say anything, before taking me back to the pack clinic.“I could come down so you could…” I started, as soon as we rea
