5. Heart Beat

My eyes bolted open the minute I felt someone’s lips on mine. I narrowed my eyes, wondering who it was—only to open my eyes fully, finding that same male that Merida claimed was our second-chance mate. For a moment, I stare into his brown eyes which are warm. He seemed too bright for his own good.

I got into my senses when I discovered we’ve been staring at ourselves for a long period of time. I immediately blinked at him in total dismal. But it seemed like he was not having it. My petite hands directed to my lips, focusing on him. He just kissed me! “D-Did y-you just kiss me?” I asked, furrowing my brows at him. I expected him to reply he didn’t. Instead, he lifted me by the collar of my shirt, pulling me up as if I was some kind of lifeless entity.

“W-Wh- “I tried to say but he interrupted that instant.

“You,” he started off, staring at me so intensely. “Why are you so keen to end your life?” He asked fully. His voice was a deep and authoritative voice. So dominating and powerful. In fact, he had the aura of an Alpha.

“That’s none of your business,” I retorted at him with a scowl on my face. The Alpha made a brutal growl, sparing me a glance. “Now, listen good. I am your Alpha and mate so whatever you do is my business. Are we clear on that?” he stated, asking me. I didn’t bother replying because of what was definitely coming next. I wanted him to hasten it up so it’d not hurt like Beta Devin’s which tore me apart till now.

“If you want to reject me, Alpha. Do it now, I understand that a low-life Omega like me is not suitable for you.” said I, lowering my eyes to the ground. He let go of my collar that minute, The Alpha took my petite hands in his large ones. The next thing I noticed was that he intertwined it, raising it to his mouth and pecked it softly. My wolf purred in pleasure but I couldn’t believe what was happening.

Was this some sort of tradition in his pack, when someone wanted to reject his mate?

He left me confused, as I stared at him without knowing what to say again. I closed my eyes tight when he eventually opened his mouth to speak. It was nothing I haven’t experienced before so it couldn’t be that bad, could it? “State your name and your pack,” he ordered with a really tight grin on his features. I batted my lashes gazing at his chest which was at my face level.

“Celeste from Moon Ravage pack.” I responded. Our nearness was intoxicating me and I wanted to stay far away from him so I’d get used to the oncoming rejection. “Celeste, I am Alpha Killian of Fangs Clan pack. Why do you think I’d reject you?” he asked me. My heart beat immediately thudded fast at how he pronounced my name. I had always dreamed of my mate being so loving and caring. I wanted him to take me far away from my pack who misunderstood me. Then, we would live happily ever after. But after the humiliation I faced with Beta Devin, I knew sometimes dreams don’t come true.

“I’ve faced rejection once. Don’t worry, you don’t need to pity me, Alpha. Go ahead, I’ll understand.” My hands moved to my chest as I waited desperately for it. Alpha Killian let go of my hands that instant.

“I would never reject what’s mine, dear mate! Now, come with me.” he said, walking a little distant from me. This gave me opportunity to go farther.

“No, this is impossible. Why would you want me?” I protested, running back into the river. The river drenched my clothes again making me wet all over again. All of a sudden, Alpha Killian made use of his wolf speed, appearing directly in front of me. “Don’t ever try to drown yourself again, mate.” he seethed. I didn’t prepare for what came next. Alpha Killian lifted me in his hefty hands in a bridal style. I shrieked in protest as he walked out of the water but he was having none of it. When I started wriggling out of his hands, I could only hear him laughing at me. My head was beside his chest. Thus, I could hear the way his voice rumbled. Indeed, it was the most beautiful sound I had heard ever.

“Let me down!” I told him, but it was no use. He just ignored my words.

Alpha Killian took me to his pack, even though I didn’t want it. He placed me amongst people, ordering them to watch me. He made it seem like I was dangerous to myself but he didn’t understand.

I was never this person. In fact, I was far from this person. I never wanted death for myself. It was my pack and my first mate that made me want to end my life. I wanted to bring an abrupt end to every—

“Hi, there. I’m Patricia. What is your name?” Someone asked me. My head immediately directed up to see the prettiest creature ever. It was a blonde haired female with pretty blue eyes. She looked really nice and surprisingly warm to me, which was opposite to my pack.

“C-Celeste.” I said, still on my spot as I wondered why she was talking to me, a low rank Omega. Her aura radiated power. It was as if she had a warrior gene in her.

“Luna Celeste, you don’t need to fret. No one’s going to harm you in this pack. In fact, you are safe here.” She said, giving me a wide smile.

She didn’t get it, did she? I didn’t want to live at all…

Patricia's eyes immediately dilated into pure black. Someone was definitely mind linking her. I could see as she let out a gasp, staring at me so surprisingly. Perhaps, she had gotten information that I had attempted to take my life twice.

I watched her body movements as she sat down beside me on the sofa.

“Shall we start this again, Luna?” she asked.
