•VIKTOR•

'We will find her, Viktor,' Ash whispered in my mind. 'When she's back, we will claim her as ours, and Crescent Moon will never be a threat again.'

I released a long breath as I looked out the window. The car was driving inside the Eclipseborn's border. Beside me was Brian, Catherine’s foster child.

He was quiet but didn’t seem afraid to be with me. But I couldn't stop wondering why he said nothing to his father about the boys who were bullying him.

It was strange that they were treating their Alpha’s son as if he were the child of a man at the lowest rank of their pack.

But he reminded me of myself.

Frostbite was never kind to me, even though it was my home. They treated me poorly merely because my father was a farmer.

When they banished me, I thought it would be the end of my life. I never thought I'd survive outside of the same people who had caused me the most pain.

"Tell me, Brian," I muttered, turning to him. "Will you be safe in my house until your father return

•LEO•I stared at Viktor, my hand still on the door handle. His face was serious. "What do you mean, you know what the lycans are planning?" I asked, my voice low.Viktor glanced at his phone before he looked up at me. "I just got off the phone with Gurry, the guy we were waiting for to get back from the north. He has told me everything the lycans are planning to do." "What are they planning?" My heart raced, thinking about Catherine, who was still missing. Viktor took a breath. "The lycans are done waiting. They see Catherine as a threat to their control. So, Gurry said they're planning to send a message to all the packs soon. An ultimatum."My stomach tightened. "What kind of ultimatum?""To turn in Catherine, or be attacked one by one. l They'll start with the weaker packs and then move to bigger ones. They want her alive, to use her or break her. If packs refuse, they'll burn them down."My heart raced. I knew how hard it was for Viktor to tell me this news. He knew he wouldn't

•CATHERINE•Chaos erupted in an instant. Leo's massive black wolf form charged through the shattered gates, and his red eyes glowed with fury, muscles rippling under his dark fur. The pack members scattered, gasping in shock. Some screamed, others froze in place. Killian's guards rushed forward, shifting into their wolves mid-stride, but Leo was faster, stronger. He leaped onto the first guard, jaws clamping down on its neck with a sickening crunch. The wolf yelped and went limp. Another guard tried to flank him, but Leo spun, his claws raking deep gashes across its side. Blood sprayed across the courtyard stones. The air filled with growls and snarls.Killian shifted too, his body twisting into a large gray wolf with scarred fur. He bared his teeth, ears flat against his head. "You dare invade my pack?" he snarled through the mind link, but Leo didn't bother replying. He barreled straight at Killian, their bodies colliding like thunder.I watched from the pole, my body weak but

•CATHERINE•My back felt like it was on fire from the whip. The hot silver chains around my neck hurt deep into my bones. I tried to steady my breathing, fighting the urge to slip out of consciousness. Killian walked back and forth in front of the pack. He held the bloody whip and exclaimed. “Time is up. Say I am your Alpha right now. Or I kill her. No more waiting. Choose.”The people in the crowd looked scared. Some moved a little, but no one spoke. They were too afraid, and I understood their reasons. Killian was the rightful Alpha according to the new law. Uncle Benard had been the Alpha for over twenty-seven years. They couldn't just turn against their former Alpha even though they didn't want his son to run the pack. In that moment while Killian was speaking to the pack, threatening to kill me if they didn't bend the knee, I reached out to Leo through the mate bond. Though I wanted nothing to do with him, he was the only person I could reach. Not even Viktor could help me

•LEO•"The Luna demoted you?" I asked in disbelief while I was on the call with Bruce. I shook my head and couldn't believe what he was telling me. I had done everything before Catherine and I were taken to ensure that Mary would be punished for her crimes and banished from the pack. The only thing that remained was for her to sign the divorce papers and be done with the nonsense we called marriage for five years. I regretted every moment I had spent with her and wished she would be out of our territory by the time I returned home with my son. But alas, she had deceived the entire pack and made them believe she was still the Luna. The elders were even gullible enough to believe every word she said. It was as if they all believed I wouldn't return from the north. "Yes, Alpha," he answered. "The Elders sided with her and told us to await your return before she could be punished for the crimes she confessed in front of the entire pack. They believe she and Xander were under the inf

•VIKTOR•[126 YEARS AGO]I was heading to the woods to hunt when her scent hit me. She was crouching behind a tree, her eyes fixed on her target. I watched as she moved swiftly and caught the deer before it could run away. My heart felt warmed when I saw her. She was more like me than I wanted to admit. We both loved hunting alone. As I leaned closer to her, I felt a pull toward her. 'She's our mate,' Ash murmured in my head. She was beautiful and reserved. Her name was Cersie. Gamma Harlan’s daughter. Her dark hair was loose down her back, and her green eyes pierced through me when she tilted her head. She wore a plain dress, but she looked like something out of a dream. When our eyes met, the world narrowed to just us. She felt it too. Neither of us spoke at first. I stepped closer, and she didn’t back away. My hand lifted, fingers brushing her cheek, and she didn't back away. “You’re Viktor,” she murmured, smiling.“And you’re Cersie.”A few days after our first meeting in

•BRIAN•I waited outside the front porch for Alma. He was the only person who made it easy for me while waiting for my father to arrive. Alma was the only person who made waiting easy.He was my best friend, and the only one who didn't treat me like I was different. With him, I was just Brian. I heard soft footsteps behind the house, then a sharp whistle that I knew very well. I smiled before I even turned my head.“Brian,” Alma whispered loudly. “Come on. Before they see you.”I jumped up and followed his voice. He was standing near the side of the house, his dark hair messy as always, his eyes bright with excitement. He waved at me to hurry.“Where are we going?” I asked as I ran to him.“We will go to the playground,” he answered. “Then the trees. The older boys are training near the fence. If they see us, they will make us run errands.”I groaned. “Again?”He nodded seriously. “Again.”We both laughed quietly and ran behind the house. The backyard was wide and green, with tall
