Aurora’s POV

The nighttime was so quiet that even my concealed heavy breathing felt like it echoed down the streets of the Shadowpine Pack.

The weight of this man bore down on me. I barely held on, gritting my teeth.

Where do I keep him? I pondered briefly, desperately.

Then an idea hit me.

I thought of Elder Miriam and my feet carried me towards her cottage that was less than ten minutes away.

Waves of dizziness hit me over and over, like the ebb and flow of tides of the ocean.

I paused several

Alaric’s POVThroughout the dinner, I made sure to serve Aurora myself. She didn't say anything, and she didn't even bother to look my way. But I felt like doing it.It was the least I could do now that she had withdrawn the petition.Thinking of that fact that I had another chance to make things right with her, I felt a tremor in my chest, the sensation was equal parts exhilarating and relieving. I nearly smiled at some points during the lunch, but I didn't want to bring too much attention to myself. All I wanted was for Aurora to fully trust in me again. So no matter what, I was going to do whatever it took. The lunch ended with everyone having their fill of food and drink. It was about time to receive the report from Declan about what had happened. He had left with a handful of our people, but arrived with over 100, most of whom were the rogues that still followed Zephyr's orders.Their arrival had been the quietest part of today, as most were still preoccupied with the events of t

Aurora’s POVAs I reached the front porch of our home, I heard quick footsteps coming behind, that made me pause.“My lady.’Zephyr’s voice was recognizable and I turned expectantly, seeing him nearly run to my side. He stopped a few feet away, concerned in his gaze as he looked me up and down.“You are alright,” he stated, not asking.I realized he was likely worried about me, a quality that I never knew how to address with him.I nodded in response.“I’m fine,’ I said.Behind him, I noticed beta Declan had also arrived, walking with Alaric in deep discussions. As soon as they saw me too, they stopped. Alaric’s gaze drifted down to my right hand where the paper I held was slightly visible. I shifted and cleared my throat.“you should all come in,” I said while turning to head inside.Zephyr was quick to follow right behind me.“Mom!”The face that greeted me at the foyer was Asher's. He ran up to me and hugged my waist, pressing his face against my torso.“Baby, how are you?” I be

Aurora’s POVEven as I walked away from the battle scene I began to second guess myself. What did I mean by that? Why had I said that to him?I had never intended on letting those words slip, letting Alaric have hope but the look in his eyes…I closed my eyes briefly and exhaled.‘You’re making the right decision,’ Amber said in my head.I nearly scoffed.‘What is the right decision here, staying or leaving?’A pause followed, then, ‘Whichever makes you happiest.’ I pursed my lips, passing by scenes of orderly cleanup. My steps grew faster, as I began to change direction. I had wanted to go back home to get my things, but now it felt like I was changing my mind. Was there a point to lying about it?I wanted to stay.I hurried to reach the administrative building, where I had submitted the divorce petition the first day I had been reborn. As soon as I stepped in, my presence was noticed by the receptionist who had been organizing papers. Her eyes lit up.“Luna, what brings you here?

Alaric’s POVShe looked otherworldly. Not like a mere Luna unable to fight.I saw it from the moment the first lightning struck. Her eyes, her pupils and sclera both white, almost gleaming with a silver light. And nature obeyed her.I had not understood the extent of her powers before. Elder Miriam had explained to me that her Luna essence was something pure, and I knew that she was sought out by other packs before we got married. But this was different. It was akin to watching a goddess incarnate in action. Now, after everything, she stood close, listening but not acting. Doctor Montgomery had taken over the medical team while she supervised. Everyone glanced at her, unable to stop whispering about how powerful their Luna was.Everyone had seen her capabilities today.“Over 700 of the rogues are dead, Alpha,” the guard reported. “Those alive have been taken for interrogation.”There was a hint of satisfaction in his voice and I didn't call him out on it. Not when I felt the stir of t

Aurora’s POVBlood shed.My body didn't stop moving, despite the conflicted emotions I felt.I had stopped by the clinic, barely able to grab a small medical kit slung over my body. Now I have to use it.“Aurora!” I heard a familiar voice behind me.“Lyra!” I yelled. She ran towards me. “WHY are you here? You should be in the shelter.”“So should you, Luna,” she teased, but her expression was cold. “I am not going to abandon you. And I saw your note. You’re so silly for daring not to say goodbye properly.”My cheeks and eyes burned with a strange feeling.I nodded, pursing my lips.“Elder Miriam was the one that told me where you were,” she continued while we worked on one patient each. “She’s in the pack clinic now, helping with the injured persons.”I worked with precision. Apply pressure on the wound, clean the wound, and dress. As we worked, several more came. Not all were from the clinic, many were warriors as well, helping to carry off those we had attended to.The only time I r

Alaric’s POVOf all the things I could have imagined, the rogues attacking before we did was not part of the plan.“Alpha! The eastern gates are nearly breached!” A guard hurried to report, having run from the borders to me.We had only 500 men, I thought. I had sent Declan early this morning with 30 of our people to go with the rogue leader Zephyr, and negotiate an alliance with the smaller rogue group he commanded.Half of our troops were occupied and out of the pack, allied to scout and destroy the rogues.I growled, “Then we defend it.”Chaos had already broken out, and I was in the middle of it.“You,” I ordered one of the stronger warriors called Gereon. “Take 10 of the men. You will guard the shelters. No one must be harmed.”“Yes Alpha.”Suddenly I heard a voice call, “Alaric!”I turned to see Aurora running towards me. She had a bag swung over her body.“Head to the Eastern Gates,” I ordered everyone.“I’m coming with you,” were the first words she said as soon as she reache

Aurora’s POVThe next morning, as soon as I finished dressing up, I got a knock on the door. To my surprise, as soon as I opened the door, I saw a guard, bearing the crest of the Council. My heart skipped a beat but I tried my best to remain calm. Why was the Council coming to me?The Elders and I

Aurora’s POVI didn't know what Seraphina was going to do next, nor did I expect to hear a heavy, long sigh, like air being forced out of a balloon.“You,” Seraphina’s voice was now weak. “I will regret this.”“Oh I think I will,” Lyra hummed. “I regret not being able to punch you in the face right

Aurora’s POVI glanced at Eva whose lips twitched. But upon meeting my gaze she adopted a look of mocking and mild grievance.“What? Don't tell me you’re upset with me, Luna Aurora?” She snorted then and took a swig of wine like she was in a bar instead of such an event.“You spoke enough,” I regar
