Working under my Alpha husband

The William Group of Companies was nothing like I imagined.

The building rose into the sky like a fortress of glass and steel, cold and intimidating. As the car slowed in front of the entrance, my heart pounded painfully against my ribs. This wasn’t fear—it was awareness. My wolf was restless, alert, reacting to the powerful Alpha presence that filled the place.

William.

I stepped out of the car, my fingers tightening around my bag. Employees moved briskly past me, their faces filled with determination and quiet anxiety. This place breathed power, ambition, and dominance, everything my Alpha husband embodied. Inside, whispers followed me.

“That’s her…” “The Alpha’s wife…” “She doesn’t look like much.” “Why is she here?”

I kept my head high, even as their words cut deep. I had survived worse. Years of cruelty from my stepmother and stepsister had taught me how to endure pain without breaking.

At the reception desk, the secretary froze when she saw me.

“Mrs… Mrs. Miller?” she stammered.

“Yes,” I replied calmly.

She swallowed. “The chairman instructed us to prepare an office for you. You’ll be working under the executive department… directly under Mr. Miller.”

Under William.

My wolf stirred uneasily.

William’s office was on the top floor.

As the elevator ascended, memories flooded my mind, of the night he saved me from rogue wolves, of the day I saved him from death, of the moment my wolf recognized him as my mate.

And in the cold way he looked at me now.

The doors slid open.

William stood by the floor-to-ceiling windows, his back to me, dressed in a perfectly tailored suit. Even without facing me, his presence was overwhelming. Alpha energy rolled off him in silent waves.

“You’re late,” he said without turning.

“I arrived exactly on time,” I replied softly.

He turned then, his sharp blue eyes locking onto mine. For a split second, something flickered in his gaze, confusion, maybe recognition, but it vanished just as quickly.

“You’re here because of my grandfather,” he said coldly. “Not because you deserve it.”

I nodded. “I understand.”

That seemed to irritate him more.

“You will work like every other employee,” he continued. “No special treatment. No using my name.”

“I never planned to,” I said quietly.

His brows furrowed. He clearly hadn’t expected that answer.

“Good,” he muttered. “My assistant will assign your duties.”

As I turned to leave, his voice stopped me.

“And stay away from Selena.”

The name sliced through me.

“She doesn’t like being disturbed,” he added.

I wanted to laugh. Or cry. Instead, I simply nodded and walked out.

The first week was hell.

I was given piles of work no beginner should handle, reports, market analysis, late-night data reviews. Some employees deliberately made mistakes and blamed them on me. Others refused to acknowledge my presence at all.

Yet I endured.

Every night, I returned to the mansion exhausted, my body aching, my wolf weak but unbroken. William never asked how my day went. Selena, however, made sure to mock me constantly.

“It's so tiring working all day, isn’t it?” she said one evening, lounging beside William on the couch. “Unlike some of us who belong in high positions naturally.”

William said nothing.

But he watched me.

Always watching.

One afternoon, everything changed.

William stormed out of a board meeting, fury radiating from him. The hallway fell silent as he barked orders and dismissed employees with a glare.

“Get her,” he snapped.

I froze when his assistant pointed at me.

“In my office. Now.”

The door slammed shut behind us.

William threw a file onto the desk. “Did you prepare this report?”

“Yes,” I answered steadily.

“This projection is impossible,” he growled. “These numbers—”

“They’re accurate,” I interrupted before I could stop myself.

Silence fell.

My heart raced. Challenging an Alpha, especially him, was dangerous.

William’s eyes darkened. “Explain.”

I took a deep breath and walked closer, pointing at the data. “The market shift in Asia will affect raw material costs within three months. Your current suppliers won’t survive the inflation.”

He stared at the report again.

Then at me.

“You noticed this,” he said slowly, “when my senior analysts didn’t?”

“Yes.”

Something changed in the air.

His scent shifted, curiosity mixing with something deeper. Pride, perhaps.

For the first time, he didn’t look at me like a burden.

He looked at me like an equal.

“Leave,” he said quietly.

As I turned to go, my wolf purred softly.

That night, William dreamed.

He saw blood-soaked ground. Rogue wolves. A small trembling girl behind him.

He woke with a sharp gasp, his heart racing.

Why does she feel familiar? he wondered.

Days later, Selena struck back.

She cornered me in the office restroom, her smile venomous.

“You don’t belong here,” she hissed. “This is my place. My mate. My future.”

I met her gaze calmly. “You’re mistaken.”

She laughed. “He believes I saved him. And he always will.”

My wolf growled softly inside me.

“You can keep lying,” I said. “But the truth always finds its way out.”

Her hand struck my face before I could react.

Pain exploded across my cheek.

Before she could strike again, a voice thundered, “What is going on here?”

William.

The hallway was silent.

Selena’s face twisted into false tears. “She attacked me” “That’s enough,” William snapped. His eyes were on me. And for the first time… they softened.

That night, William’s grandfather summoned him.

“You feel it, don’t you?” the old Alpha said calmly. “The bond.”

William clenched his fists. “She can’t be my mate.” “But she is,” his grandfather replied. “And the longer you deny it, the more damage you cause.”

William said nothing.

But deep down, something had already begun to crack.

  • The Biggest Mistake, loving my Alpha husband    William's Regret

When William returned to the mansion later that evening, the place felt… empty. Not the usual quiet emptiness of a house waiting for its owners, but a different kind hollow silence that gnawed at him.He called out my name, his voice sharp, but there was no response. He walked through every room, checking the living room, the kitchen, even the guest rooms everywhere but I was gone.“Annie?” he muttered under his breath, frustration and something sharper twisting inside him.He picked up his phone and called my office. Shawn answered immediately.“Mr. Miller,” Shawn said cautiously, “Annie… she already resigned. She left a few hours ago.”William’s hand tightened around the phone. “Resigned? She when? Why wasn’t I told?” His jaw clenched, anger simmering beneath the surface.Shawn hesitated. “I don’t know the details, sir. But she cleared everything with HR before leaving.”He ended the call abruptly and stormed back to the mansion. Hannah met him at the entrance, her expression uneasy

After I got back to the mansion, the party had already ended. My phone buzzed. It was Damian calling.“I have something very important to discuss with you,” he said urgently. “It’s about Selena and the bone marrow transplant. Can I see you tomorrow morning?”I agreed, and the next morning I went straight to his house. When I arrived, I was shocked to see Selena’s doctor there.“Annie,” he began, looking serious, “you need to understand everything Selena has planned. She has no real reason to expect you to give her a bone marrow transplant. This… all of this is manipulation.”I sat there in stunned silence, letting the weight of his words sink in. My mind raced, imagining all the ways Selena had tried to control the situation even from afar, even when I was in Texas. After leaving Damian’s house, I went straight to William’s office, determined to explain everything. But when I got there, his response shocked me to the core.“You’re lying,” he accused sharply, his eyes cold. “You’re mak

That morning, a loud knock echoed through my door.I wasn’t expecting anyone, so the shock on my face was impossible to hide when I opened it and saw him standing there. For a moment, he just stared. I was still in my nightgown, my hair messy, my guard down. Embarrassed, I quickly stepped back and grabbed a robe, wrapping it tightly around myself. He finally spoke.I was to follow him to a family gathering that evening one hosted by his youngest sister. Family friends would be present, and he didn’t want anyone to know about the divorce process yet. To them, we were still the perfect, loving couple.I nodded. I didn’t have the strength to argue. He told me he would send someone to deliver a dress and shoes. Before I could say anything else, I closed the door behind him and leaned against it, my chest tight. That evening, Shawn returned with the dress and shoes. I took my time getting ready, fixing every detail as if I were preparing for something important because somehow, I was. When

  • The Biggest Mistake, loving my Alpha husband    Three year of silence

Three days passed after everything I saw at the hospital.Three days where I barely existed.I slept. And slept. And slept.Morning, afternoon, night it all blended together. My body felt heavy, my mind numb, as if shutting down was the only way to survive the pain. When I finally woke up properly on the third day, my head throbbed and my heart felt unbearably empty. That was when it hit me. I haven't been home for 3 days and am still married to William's by name, Desperately.I packed a small bag and went home. That evening, someone unexpected had arrived.William’s mother, Mrs. Bailey Miller. It was already night when I got into the mansion. She was in the living room when I spotted me, and the first thing she said made my heart sink.“I’ve been here for the past two days,” she said, her eyes scanning my face carefully. “And I haven’t set my eyes on either you or my son.”My chest tightened.Immediately, I forced a calm smile. “We were on a business trip,” I said quickly. “We just g

  • The Biggest Mistake, loving my Alpha husband    Drunk on you

A few days passed in uneasy silence. That evening, the front door opened loudly, followed by heavy, unsteady footsteps. I looked up from the couch just in time to see Shawn helping William inside. He was drunk. So drunk he could barely stand. “Mrs. Miller,” Shawn said awkwardly, clearly exhausted. “He insisted on coming home.” Before Shawn could say anything else, William suddenly lifted his head and saw me. The moment our eyes met, he pulled his arm away from Shawn and stumbled toward me. “Annie…” he slurred. I barely had time to react before he wrapped his arms around me, pulling me into a tight hug. His lips brushed against my cheek, then my lips, his movements clumsy but desperate. “William stop,” I said, trying to push him back. Shawn froze, clearly uncomfortable. “Shawn,” I said firmly, “you can go home. I’ll take care of him.” Shawn hesitated for a second, then nodded. “Please… take care of yourself too, ma’am.” Once he left, I supported William and guided him upst

  • The Biggest Mistake, loving my Alpha husband    Divorce

The following morning felt heavy, like the air itself was pressing down on my chest. It was as if my stepmother and father had just left the house after threatening me all over again. I went to the office like I did every other day. William wasn’t there; his assistant, Shawn, handled everything throughout the day. I worked in silence, my mind elsewhere, my body moving on autopilot. By evening, Hannah arrived with the driver to pick me up. She didn’t say much, only gave me a long, searching look, as if she could already sense that something inside me had shifted. When we returned to the mansion later that evening, I was already seated at the dining table, eating quietly. William came in not long after. He glanced at me briefly, then went upstairs to shower and change. A few minutes later, he came back down, dressed neatly, his expression unreadable. “I’ll join you for dinner,” he said curtly, pulling out a chair. Then he added, “Hannah, pack some fruit, soup, and bread into a lun
