LOGINLena's POV
I felt sweat drip from my forehead regardless of the coolness from the Air conditioners in Dr Smith's office. My heart raced extremely fast, I felt Dominic Knight's eyes pierce deeply into my soul. I gulped a lump down my throat as his next words left me in anxiety. "Dr, are you sure about this?" I could sense uncertainty laced in his tone.
I fiddled with my palms and tried my possible best to avoid eye contact with Dominic. I had not even processed the fact that destiny had played a funny trick on me by making Dominic be the stranger i had sex with. Of all people, of all men, it just had to be him.
Dr Smith nodded her head slowly and responded in a very serious tone. "Yes Mr Knight. I just conducted a few tests to examine her body and i noticed that there was already an embryo growing in her." Dr Smith said.
Fuck, I was screwed. My countenance fell as I imagined what would happen to me next. It was not like everything was entirely my fault. It was not like I had forced myself on Dominic that might, we both had sex willingly.
"Dr Smith, can you please give us a moment to each other?" Dominic asked in a calm yet deadly tone. Dr Smith nodded her head in agreement, she excused herself out of the office, leaving me alone with Dominic. An awkward silence fell between us, I was unsure of what to say. Did I owe him an explanation?
Dominic suddenly cleared his throat, interrupting my thoughts. "You are pregnant." He stated, his voice was low and menacing. "With my child." He continued. I stood up and adjusted my posture, I tried to take a few steps backward but my entire body felt frozen. My mind was telling me to escape but my body kept doing the exact opposite by remaining stiff.
Dominic's gaze left me stuck on the spot. His eyes were burning with fierce possessiveness. "You broke the contract deal..." He trailed off, slowly taking a few steps closer to me. Dominic paused run a hand through his hair in frustration before continuing to speak, his voice was laced with malice. "You were supposed to be a surrogate and not a lover. Now, somehow you carry my real child."
My entire body fidgeted, I tried to explain myself but I was speechless. As if Dominic sensed that I was about to run. He shook his head at me and yelled "Alfred!" To my uttermost surprise, the door to Dr Smith's office flew open wide and some hefty men dressed in black suit stepped into the office.
Judging by their physical appearance, I knew they were Dominic's security. Nevertheless, I still made the attempt to run but unfortunately for me, His security team was too quick. They hastily grabbed me by the arm, holding me in place as Dominic drew closer.
"You need to stop." I cried out in a weak tone as i struggled to break free from the grip of Dominic's security but of course, that was nearly impossible, they were literally twice the size of me, ripped and muscular.
Dominic choked out a small scoff at my pathetic plea. "Stop what exactly? You do not expect me to just let you go. First you broke our deal and second of all, you now carry my child. You have automatically become mine." Dominic said with a straight face. I felt his hot breath dance around my face. He was only a few inches apart from me, I could sense the possessiveness written all over his face.
"What do you mean by I am yours?" I asked staring at him in disbelief. Dominic sighed in response. "You must marry me, Either that or I ruin you. I am giving you a choice now, choose wisely." He said boldly.
My goodness, even his pride irritated me. He carried himself with so much high regard, way too much that it made me really annoyed. Who did he really think he was? A billionaire? So what? He did not own my life. Marrying him was the last thing I would do.
"I would love to watch your attempt at ruining me." I spat out bitterly. For the first time today, Dominic smiled but I could tell his smile was not a genuine one, rather it seemed like a warning one. "Do you really want to test me?" He retorted, with a raised brow arched at my direction.
"I will start with your sister lying helplessly in the hospital. Once your sick sister no longer has funds for her treatment. I wonder what will go wrong with her. That all depends on you." Dominic said.
He was evil, I gritted my teeth in anger and shook my head in disapproval. "Do not do anything to Emma, I will do whatever you want. Just continue funding her hospital bills. I will marry you, I will do any single thing you ask of." I said in a haste, bowing my head low.
Dominic ordered his boys to let go off me. He raised my chin up and gave me a cold, calculating smile. "Good choice."
That was how everything happened so fast. Dominic and i got married. The ceremony was a small one where only the most important people in our lives were invited.
From that moment onwards, I felt trapped. I was bound to a ruthless Billionaire by a contract and by a child.
On the night of our wedding, Dominic insisted that I slept in the same room with him. I knew that it was his own way of torturing me.
As I laid on the king-sized bed with my back against him, I felt his arms pull me closer to himself. His hot breath lingered against my ear.
"You stole from me Lena.." He slowly whispered. His voice dripped with malice. "Now I will make sure you spend the rest of your life paying for it.”
Dominic POV:I didn’t really want to ask her if she had a good sleep. Honestly, I’ve asked that question plenty of times already. That morning, I noticed her coming down the stairs, her hair still slightly wet from a shower, wearing one of those old sweaters I thought she had tossed out. She didn’t say a word when she sat at the table; she just quietly added sugar to her tea, no milk, like she always does. She hadn’t touched the flash drive since that night, and she hadn’t mentioned the letters either. But something felt different. Her silence wasn’t as icy today; it had a new vibe to it.I waited for her to glance at me just once before I spoke up.“Want to go for a walk later?” just like yesterday. I really wanted us to have a solid connection. Lately, I couldn’t shake the thought of her, especially now that her body was changing with our child. I found myself thinking about her curves more than I should have. I would give anything just to run my hands over her.She didn’t immediate
Lena POV:I didn't get any sleep. Not even a wink. I tried, but my mind and body were buzzing from everything I discovered in that drawer. My thoughts wouldn’t chill out, not for a moment. I ended up sitting on the edge of my bed for hours, holding those letters and just staring at the wall.By the time morning rolled around, my eyes felt like they were on fire, my throat hurt from crying, and I still had the flash drive clenched in my fist, as if I was afraid someone might take it.I didn’t confront Dominic.I didn’t march into his room or shove the papers in his face. No yelling. No demands for answers. I just… kept quiet. And observed.---The kettle whistled while I was in the kitchen. My hand trembled a bit as I poured hot water into my mug. The house felt thick with silence, but not in a bad way. It was just… peaceful.I heard him coming before he walked in.Usually, he’d stroll in like he owned the place, no warning and no care. But this time, he paused at the door. I looked up
Dominic POV:---The phone rang just after nine.I was hanging out in my office, the place silent except for the sound of the air conditioning. Everyone else was either asleep or pretending to be. I thought about letting it ring, but something about the number lighting up my screen made my stomach knot.I decided to answer.“Dominic,” a raspy voice came through before I could speak. “We’ve got a situation.”It took me a moment to recognize him, Jorge Mendez. He was the guy who helped with Emma’s first move, handling all the paperwork, logistics, and that quiet transfer to the facility. I hadn’t heard from him in almost three years.“What’s going on?” I asked, leaning back in my chair. There was a pause. I could almost hear him take a breath.“Someone’s been snooping around. They showed up at my brother-in-law’s garage last week. Didn’t say much, just kept asking if I knew anything about a girl who went missing around the time of the Boston fire.”Emma.“Can you describe them?”“Tall.
Lena POV: Sleep eluded me.Even with the curtains tightly closed and the dim light from the hallway lamp Dominic insisted on leaving on “just in case," I couldn’t find rest. I wasn’t sure what he was preparing for, he never struck me as someone who feared nightmares.I lay on my side on the bed, my fingers gently resting on my stomach. Though there was no movement inside yet, I liked to imagine it was happening. I found comfort in the thought that even amid the stillness, something within me was pushing ahead, while the chaos outside felt like it had come to a standstill.Earlier that evening, he had handed me a folded note without a word. He simply placed it in my palm and stood there, arms crossed, as if bracing himself for something. It turned out to be a list. He had written it down by hand—neatly, with his precise, controlled script. Names like “Isla,” “Arden,” “Luca,” “Sera.”He didn’t ask me to choose. He didn’t express any preferences. He just left the list with me and walke
Dominic’s POV:The nursery was filled with the scent of fresh paint and new wood, a subtle fragrance that was soothing rather than overwhelming. That was the intention. I had requested a calm, neutral color scheme, nothing too bright or distracting. Just gentle beige walls, soft lighting, and clean lines. I wanted it to feel serene, like a space from one of those parenting magazines that promise peace to new parents.Peace. It was the one thing I still hadn’t managed to create for Lena. Not yet.I stood there with my hands in my pockets, once again surveying the room, even though it felt like I had already done so a dozen times. The crib was in the middle of the room, untouched and gleaming white. The rocking chair by the window was perfectly positioned to catch the early morning light. Above the crib, a mobile swayed gently, its little animals turning slowly as if they had all the time in the world. The silence was thick, almost sacred, yet it didn’t bring me any comfort. Instead, it
Cane POV: ---I hadn’t slept in two days. The ticking of the warehouse clocks was almost deafening. The air felt stagnant and heavy. It was as if the very walls were whispering secrets to one another. I remained glued to the same chair I’d been in for hours, replaying that old video of Lena yet again. She was just sitting there, staring into space. Her elbows rested on her knees, one hand laid across her stomach. A stillness that drove me crazy.“She’s too calm,” I murmured.“Maybe she’s just exhausted,” Luke chimed in from across the room, casually munching on a bag of peanuts as if we weren’t on the brink of chaos.“Don’t be ridiculous,” I shot back. “That’s not calmness; that’s giving up.”He raised an eyebrow, unbothered. “Or perhaps she simply wants peace, Cane.”I ignored him and turned the volume up a notch. The recording had no sound; it was just quiet. Still, I watched intently. I noticed the way her eyelids blinked slowly and how she ran her thumb over her knee, as if she w
