Wedding

She watches him lean down, closing the gaps between them. His head pushed closer, he was so close that she could feel his harsh yet soft warm breath hitting her face.

Realizing he was about to kiss her, Daisy pushes him out of reflex making him stagger two steps behind. The entire hall was in chaos at her action, whispers going on and on around.

"Are you ok?" He asked pulling her from her thoughts

Daisy was quick to snap out of her imagination, she blinked at him and let out a heavy yet silent sigh at the realization all was nothing but hallucinations.

"Hmm, yes"

Daisy forces a smile hoping he doesn't see through her.

"Can I?" He demands.

Daisy's eyes open wide confused about what he's talking about. She face-palm herself at the realization of what he meant.

"Yes," she gives a half-hearted response.

She closes her eyes, waiting for him to get over with it. Minutes passed but the kiss never came. Instead, she felt a light brush against her cheeks

"Don't be scared, it's just a kiss" his deep voice resonates, calming down her tense being.

He leans closer and captures her lips, the kiss is as light as a feather. The feeling of his soft lips on her gave her goosebumps and his gentleness calmed down her excited nerves.

He pulls away a few seconds after the kiss and flashes her a bright smile that leaves her heart fluttering in excitement.

The crowd applaud in celebration of the newlyweds, and both families hug and accept each other.

"Congratulations, Dave!" A lady spoke from the crowd heading towards them.

The smile on her face when she looks at Dave is strangely familiar and her smile portrays her unspoken emotions.

"Thanks, Brittney" Dave takes her into a light hug.

Daisy didn't know what his name was until now, she stared at the two chatting. They look so perfect for each other and their bond proves how well they've known each other

This got her thinking if their relationship was just friendship or something more

"Hi, Daisy... Right?" Brittney spoke out, pulling Daisy from her thoughts

"Yes"

"Congratulations!"

Brittney takes her into a hug, Daisy feels tense at first but later on gives in.

"It's OK, Daisy... Act cool, be normal, it's just for a day" she assures herself inwardly.

" Thanks" she forces herself to respond

" Is it okay for me to steal your husband for a few minutes? I promise I won't take long" Brittney demands with a bright face.

" You can have him for as long as you want" Daisy responded in her head.

" Yeah, sure... I'll wait right here and greet the other guests" She gives in, happy that she won't have to pretend to be okay.

Daisy watches her intertwine her hand with Dave's and they both walk away as though they are couples.

"Daisy?" Mrs Smith calls approaching her

Daisy rolls her eyes inwardly and faces the opposite direction, she doesn't want to see her face.

"Congratulations, my dear. I wish you a happy married life" Mrs Smith pressed on.

"I wish that was your sincere wish for me, but I guess it's exactly the reverse"

Mrs Smith gulps down the heavy lump in her throat, She stares at her daughter with so much to say but words are too far away from her lips and her mouth has been dared not to utter a word.

"I know I haven't been the best, but the truth has always been there, right in front of you" Mrs Smith wasn't willing to let go just yet

" What truth could that be?" Demands Daisy.

" Everything I've done right up to this moment has always been for you, for your happiness and welfare" The sound of Mrs. Smith's voice made it impossible for Daisy to know that she was hurt.

But who cares? She never cared for her anyway.

" You've done nothing for me, stop trying to appease yourself. Everything you did was for yourself, and everything you will ever do will still be for yourself. Your ego is just too strong to let you put another above you"

Daisy turns and flashes her a smile, "It's happiness, I presume cause you and Dad find this day very important. And I'd so much love to play my part very well, and in that case, I'll excuse myself to keep my fake happy mood blooming with pride and beauty"

Daisy walks away before Mrs Smith can utter a word, her tears are just a blink away from coming out like tumbling rain

She walked outside to where the reception was hosted, it was just a few steps away from the church which made it easier for her

Getting to the ground, she realized it was a wide space with chairs decorated with many colours and tables that were beautifully arranged in styles.

Dave and Britney could be seen by the side, they seemed to be having a wonderful chat as Brittney never stopped smiling.

"Here you two are, having the time of your life," A lady in her forties said approaching Dave and Britney.

"Mom!" Brittney calls out and takes her into a hug.

"Hmm, I'm here you naughty child" she turns to Dave, "hope you aren't spoiling her with your time and attention? Else, she will be a hell of a problem especially now that you are married" she sighs in dismay

"Mom!!!" Brittney calls out in embarrassment if being exposed

Dave chuckles, "She is like a sister to me, Mr Amber, so, I don't mind spoiling her"

"See, Mom, he doesn't mind!" Brittney cheers, happy that Dave stands to her defence.

Mrs Amber let out a heavy sigh, "Growing up together, we all thought you both could become something tomorrow but I guess, everyone's tomorrow is not as easy to predict as it seems"

"You both compliment each other in so many ways that I can't help but wonder why you two didn't end up together" she adds.

"Mom??!!!" Brittney quickly calls out at the realization her mom is heading in a direction that doesn't fit the occasion.

"Dave is a married man now and he doesn't complain about it, neither do I... Stop overthinking, that was all in the past and now is the present, let's live life as per what is given" she adds.

" You shouldn't be thinking about such in a time like this, Be rest assured, I will never let Britney suffer or handle her problems alone, even if we are nothing but best of friends " Dave speaks in assurance of his presence in Britney's life.

While they were busily having their promising chat, Daisy had been listening to them talk and she felt hurt for being a second wheel to both lovers. She hates herself more for not being able to stand up against her dad and choose her happiness.

Tears stream down her face uncontrollably wetting her white dress. She turns and leaves for the bath but bumps into a table almost throwing the things to the ground.

" Sorry, I'm so sorry! " She said rushing to the restroom without looking back.
