Chapter X: You're Only A Kid Once

After I accompanied Toby home, I don’t feel like going back to the pub anymore. I still have work to do tonight but I can't figure out why I seem to have lost the energy to do all of that.

I head straight to our house, exhausted, as I always am. But I can’t get tired because we are not as privileged as other adults. I can’t lie down on my bed and money will just fall over my face. I know that regardless of how tired I am, I have to show up.

It is so difficult to swallow that the only thing that motivates me to continue is because I know we’re not rich and I have to strain my own body to earn. Miserable life, isn’t it?

As soon as I opened the door, I’ve already seen Aunt Emily sitting on the couch, watching her favorite show.

“Oh, Gia. You’re home early? Did your office close at this hour?” Aunt Emily asked and I just nodded due to my weary body.
