"YES, I GAVE HER THE heirloom. It's rightfully hers. I didn't mention it to you because you never come home."

"But Dad! You could have at least told me. We work in the same company," I added, trying to convey my disappointment.

"It slipped my mind. Anyway, I heard that you and the young man I introduced you to have come to an agreement?" he asked, prompting an eye roll from me.

"Well, he's okay. But it's not your decision whether I marry him or not!" I said firmly, brushing my hair upwards in frustration.

Just then, the door to my room swung open, and Rious, entered with a book in his hand.

"Mommy, let's read this!" he exclaimed, and my eyes widened in surprise.

"Who's that?!" Dad asked, I was caught off guard by my father's sudden intrusion.

"Ahm, Dad. I'll talk to you again tomorrow," I quickly hung up the call before my father could ask any more questions. Clutching my chest, I tried to steady my nerves.
