Chapter six

My hands trembled as I signed the contract, the ink smudging on the white paper.

“Welcome to your hell, Astrid Grey,” Elijah whispered into my ear, his cold breath fanning my neck delicately.

I felt a chill run down my spine. How did he know my real name? What have I gotten myself into?

“Don't look so surprised, Maya or should I say Astrid,” he said in a faux concerned voice. “I know you more than you know yourself.”

I stared at him fighting the urge to punch him on the face. I could tell he could read the irritation in my face when he plastered a sly smirk on his face.

Just then, Tiffany's voice cut through the tension. “Maya, what's going on? What's happening? Is he threatening you?”

I almost considered spilling the entire truth to her, but I knew that would only put her in danger, more danger than she already was.

“No, he isn't” I turned to Elijah who had a look of triumph on his smug face.“He is all I ever wanted” I turned back to her with a smile forced on my face. “It's okay, I'll be fine.”

Tiffany didn't believe me, I could tell from the look she gave me but she respected my decision. That was all I needed..all we needed to survive. She turned back to go to her sit.

“You'll never be fine. You'll never be free, Astrid.”

“What do you mean by that?” I scowled at him.

“You're mine now…mine to command and torture,” he said, laughing at his own stupid comment.

“You'll never own me, Elijah. I don't know what I did to you, but I'm not going to let you use me for your sick games,” I said and turned to leave, my patience for him running thin rapidly. Tiffany was no longer in the court room. I didn't blame her, and the air was suffocating me too.

“You should have thought of that before signing the contract” he said as I let the door close behind me, leaving him in the room.

I knew I was in grave danger. Elijah's word kept echoing in my mind even as I stepped into the limousine that would take us to his home “You'll never be free.” I rubbed my belly, my heart aching for the innocent soul growing inside me.

I knew I had to escape no matter what. I was no longer alone.

I watched from outside the window as the car moved, the silence in the car deafening.

“Where are we going?” I asked trying to keep my small voice steady. I couldn't let him smell the horrid fear coming from me.

“Our honeymoon suite. Don't worry, you'll love it. I promise.”

My heart immediately sank. I knew I had to worry. I couldn't trust Elijah to act civilised. He was a Demon.

Soon enough the limousine pulled up to a luxurious hotel. It was nothing like I had ever seen. I almost didn't want to blink against the fear of the building vanishing. Just the view almost made me forget my own predicament.

“Welcome to our honeymoon suite,” he said as we stepped out of the elevator.

My eyes widened slightly as I took in the view of the luxurious room. But my mood immediately deflated when I recalled I wasn't here to enjoy like the typical newly wedded wife.

He walked over to the bar and poured himself a shot of whiskey, the smell of the alcohol quickly filling the space between us. “Should I pour you a shot?” He offered, his eyes glinting with amusement.

“No, thank you,” I quickly said, turning my face away from him, going back to admiring his expensive taste.

“Suit yourself” he chuckled.

As Elijah continued to drink while he scrolled on his phone, I continued to feel a sense of unease wash over me. I didn't like how he was calm. What was his plan for me?

Just as I was about to ask him what we were really doing here, I heard a knock on the door.

“Are you expecting someone?” I asked, my heart racing with anticipation. Was it Tiffany? Did Elijah finally grow a heart and decide to bring my best friend to me?

“Why don't you open the door and find out?” His smile grew wider. A smile I knew all too well.

“Why should I? It's your visitors, isn't it?” I challenged. I had a feeling whoever was on the other side of the door was not about to be my friend or saviour.

“Open the damn door!” He snapped, his eyes glaring daggers at me.

I quickly moved from my position and went towards the door. He looked like he could snap my head from my body.

I hesitated, looking back at him, and then turning back to the door, opening it.

"Probably just room service" I said under my breath.

I was shocked to see a stunning lady in the hallway. She looked like she had just walked out of a vogue magazine.

“Hello. Can I help you?” I asked as politely as I could.

The woman smiled, her perfect dentition on display. “ Uh… no, you can't. I'm here for Elijah. I'm a friend of his.”

“Why? We're on our honeymoon, didn't he tell you?” I asked. Why would a friend of Elijah's show up at his honeymoon suite. Especially a beautiful lady friend.

“Why don't you let him decide for himself?" She said pushing me out of the way, as she walked into the suite like she owned the ground itself.

Immediately she was on his sight, the scowl that sat on his face quickly vanished, replaced with a happy grin.

“Ah Monica. Perfect timing” he stood up from his stool, quickly wrapping her in his arms…like I had been longing for him to do me.

“What's going on, Elijah?” My eyes narrowed at the both of them.

“What do you mean, wifey?” He asked his hands holding her fondly.

“What's she doing here? And why are you holding her like…like that?”Suddenly my throat felt too tight to speak.

“Oh…this?”He asked looking at her, a look of admiration quickly clouding his face. He grabbed her chin before claiming her lips in his own.

A nightmare I never thought existed.

“Wh_what…?”

“Monica and I have…a history, you might want to call it. Monica is my girlfriend,” he said, breaking my heart the hundredth time.

My jaw twitch, wondering what next he had found about Maya.Vikram is my personal investigator who had showed me that Maya was the woman who had killed my mother three years ago, and ran away like nothing happened.I didn't just take his words for it. Her innocent face, they didn't look like someone's that would pull a trigger in someone's head, much less someone they had worked for, for over five years. And so I ordered Vikram to redo his investigation again and again, and to find more proof. And at the end of the day, all evidence pointed to her. "Why do you keep staring at me that way? You think I'll confess to a crime I didn't commit if you stare hard enough?” I asked coldly, my body launched lazily on the sofa, eyes distant. My voice feels too sore like I haven't talked for the part three months, and that's not a complete exaggeration. I've been literally mute for the past two weeks since Elijah brought me back home from the hospital.I could feel my life slipping away day by day, there was no essence for living anymore, and I hated how a night of pasion made me into this. Light sears into my eyes, a jagged blade cutting through the dark. I’m nowhere, just a void, my body is a lead weight, and my limbs like stone. Where am I?, I ask myself. The air’s wrong—sharp, cold, like metal and bleach. A hum buzzes, low, under the beep, and I blink, slow, the world a smear of white and gray.“Mrs. Tyler?” A voice, brisk, female, slices through. “Can you hear me?” I try to focus, but my eyes are heavy, the shape of her blurring—a woman, white coat, clipboard clicking. My name—Tyler—lands like a stone, familiar but distant, like it’s someone else’s. The VIP room was a shithole- it looked liked it had been used too many times by scumbags and dirty whores. But it would be enough for this night. He just needed to let off some steam. The door slammed shut as he pushed Tasha _or whatever she had called her name to be, against the door. A moan escaped from her lip as his lips found her sensitive bud underneath her flimsy clothing.“F*ck…please don't stop,” she moaned out. Trisha grabbed his head, smashing her lips against his, as his hands found the waist band of her panties. Already soaked with her juices. She clawed at his shirt, shredding it off him like a starving animal hungry for its prey. Her dress was a scrap of cheap red silk, unlike his expensive own. It was too tight, so he yanked it up, baring her half naked body to him. His hands grabbed her tits, pressing her harder to the door. “You want this, don't you?” He growled as his hands continued to rub on her nipples, eliciting a soft moan from her. She nodded, unable to spit
