Chapter thirty-eight

Hearing his words, it brought a twisted sense of relief to my chest.

He has bought it all…

My plan has clicked into place.

Now all I have to do is make him hate me.

“What?” I feigned pretence.

He started taking steps towards me, as I retreated in staged fear,

“You’re not my Layde.” he stated.

I gulped, once I realized my back had connected with the wall with him nearly looming over me with questioning eyes.

“My Layde can never be this selfish and stuck up. People can change, but no, I don't believe in her changing this much. She was and still is, a literal angel. You're two different people. I found the wrong person, my bad…”

His words made my heart pick up a blissful rhythm, I almost melted at what he had to say about me, but then, I reminded myself of how much his rejection after the scandal has hurt and the thought alone, toughened me up once again.
