Chapter 3 – Niklaus’s apology

After lunch Zelina had a meeting out of the office. When she returned to the company late afternoon Niklaus and Alexis were walking in the lobby side by side, discussing something silently. 

Zelina tried her best to ignore the two as she looked the other way as she passes them, but Alexis Jacobs had other plans in mind.

"Miss Gold?" Alexis calls for her brother’s wife.

Zelina sighs inwardly putting on a brave smile and looked over at her boss. "Yes President Jacobs?" she asks 

"Come here I want you to meet someone..." Alexis calls her over.

Niklaus frowned you could see the displeasure on his face his been phoning his wife all day, but she has been ignoring his calls, he thought she was ignoring him, but he discovered she had left her phone in her office. And she was not around, he went pay his sister a visit, discovering his sister has already met his lovely new wife without him present was unnerving and he did not like the pit in his stomach. Dealing with Zarah and her problems was the last thing he wanted to do, but he did not have a choice. Zelina’s sweet scent brought him out of his thoughts…

"President Jacobs?" Zelina asks sweetly ignoring the looks she was getting from the rest of the company.

"Miss Gold, I want you to meet my brother Niki" Alexis smiles sweetly.

Niklaus places his hands in his pants pockets and rolls his eyes at his sister. "I told you to stop calling me that my name is Niklaus"

"We both know why your name is Niklaus... I prefer Niki you used to love it" she says 

Niklaus shakes his head and says "I apologize for Lex's rude behaviour... Lex I have to go... And no, I will not help him, and Catherine will not help him either..."

"How about I tell your little wife about your little secret?" She whispers in Niklaus's ear

"You wouldn't dare." Niklaus glares at his twin who shared almost identical features to his, they shared the same dark hair and green eyes. 

"Have you not known me since we’ve scared the womb?" Alexis smiles sweetly. 

She discovered it this morning after she got back to her office and she stared an old photo of her and her brother, she could help but think Zelina looked familiar and then it hit her. Why her brother who has been in love with one woman since their childhood. Why he would marry a woman who just met, it took a second, but she finally got it. 

"Fine I'll help Raven. You happy now?" Niklaus asks

"Ecstatic" Alexis smiles

"I'm going back to my office enjoy…" Zelina says

Zelina walks into her office there are documents she needs to translate so she gets to work. She did not even notice that some had knocked and entered her office... 

Niklaus frowned he thought she was angry and ignoring him

"Zelina..." He says softly

Startled Zelina looks up and sees her husband standing in front of her…

She puts her hand over her heart and stutters. "Klaus I mean Niklaus"

"It’s okay you can call me Klaus..." he says softly

"Can I ask you something weird?" she asks 

"Sure…” Niklaus shrugs 

“Does your mom love Vampire diaries?" she asks

"Not that I know of, no" he shakes his head. His mother did not watch much tv, she worked a lot and read when she had free time.

"Oh, your name is one of the Original Vampires and he's a total badass…" she smiles at him

Niklaus frowns. She likes another man who shares a name with him. "So do you like the badass type?" he asks 

"In my books, movies and tv series" she nods.

"What about me?" he could not help himself. she better say she liked him. "What do you think of me?" he asks again

Zelina bites her lower lip and changes the subject "Did you sort out the problem you had last night?" she asks 

"Yes, I did... Are you angry with me?" he asks sitting down in the chair in front of her desk. He looks around her office. It was more her style. Blues everywhere.

"For not coming home last night? Or leaving me alone in a huge house? Or better yet living me stranded finding my own way to work? No, I am not angry" even though she said she was not angry, she sounded angry. Niklaus frowned. He did not have much experience with women. He did not know how to pacify

Niklaus knew she was angry even though she just said she was not… he might be many things but dumb was not one of those things. 

"I'm sorry something came up I had to take care of" he says

He did not want to tell her about how Zarah got drunk in a bar an almost got arrested for prostitution and nearly sleeping with a man twice her age. It was not that he did not trust Zelina it was that he was protecting her from the chaos that came with having the Jacobs last name.

The fact that Niklaus would not bring up where he went or who she was... Zelina started to feel bad maybe he couldn't be with the woman he loves... 

"If you have go and see your girlfriend that's fine no need to hide it from me. I hate lies more than anything" Zelina says

That startled Niklaus. He frowned and felt hurt that she would think that of him. Did she really think he married her so he could sleep with other women? "What girlfriend? You are my wife... I only have you" he reminds her

"Then the girl from last night?" she asks 

What girl? Niklaus was confused. Then he realized she was talking about his phone call. "Are you talking about the phone call?" he asks 

"Yes..." she nods.

"That was my sister's bodyguard Russell her went out drinking with friends and got into trouble with the law, I went to fetch her and took her to my dad’s private villa, I stayed with her so I could punish her." he tells her honestly.

"I'm sorry... I thought..." Zelina looks down ashamed of her thoughts.

"Thought I would cheat on you? Is that why you angry?" he asks her, he could not hide his smile. It meant she had feelings for him if he was getting jealous of him with another woman.

"I'm not angry..." she lies.

"Fine... Let us have dinner together, I need your input on the design layout of our new house" he tells her

"I'm fine with anything" she shrugs

"Okay... I will arrange a driver for you" he tells her

"That's not necessary." She immediately shakes her head no.

"How do you plan on getting to work without it? if I remember correctly, you don’t know how to drive Zelina…" he reminds her

Zelina sighs "Fine" she nods, knowing the fact that she could not drive and did not have a car would be a bad idea.
