The Alpha’s Pretend Mate

The morning breeze blew, and the crystal clear dewdrops slid down the leaves and jumped cheerfully. The green grasses woke up under the gentle morning light, and it looked greener under the shower of rain and dew. A few little birds screamed crisply at Alpha Dennis window and the sound awakened him.

He gently pushed open the window and fresh, fragrant air rushed over. He took a deep breath and allowed the cool breeze to blow on his face.

He crossed his hands across his chest and let out a loud sigh. Today was the mating ceremony of his best friend and Beta.

Alpha Dennis hated to go to mating ceremonies as he always felt intimidated whenever he attend such events. He was twenty four and still couldn't feel his mate which means he might probably not have one.

Alpha Dennis sighed and stood up from his bed, he stretched and headed for the bathroom. He stepped under the shower and allowed the warm water to run down his body, different thoughts ran through his head as he did that. It wasn't a good thing not to feel one mate, and the Alpha was bothered about it, his people were beginning to pressure him about it and he feared it might make them turn against him.

Minutes after he was done bathing and dressing, he walked out of his room, fully dressed in a white turtleneck sweater and a black suit. He wore a black shining shoe and one could see their reflection in them.

Alpha Dennis is a very handsome man with jet black hair that sparkled under light, he also had a pair of scythe-shaped eyebrows. His hawkish nose and half-dome cheekbones sat above an oaken jaw.

His broad and well chiseled shoulders were part of his burly physique, it was very obvious he was a gym regular. He always walked with a tiger-like spring and his sea rover blue eyes twinkled whenever he speaks. They were almond-shaped and were always a-flush with triumph. His brash personality and bass voice were a big part of his ambitious character with his signature earthy scent of loamy cologne that always swirled around him.

He looked into the big mirror placed on the corridor and adjusted his clothes. Alpha Dennis walked down the curved stairs of his big mansion soliloquizing as he walked, he took a quick glance at the very large potrait of him on the right side of the wall that his Beta hung up the day before.

He looked away and took the stairs down to the dining room so he could whip himself a quick snack before his sister and her mate who happened to be his gamma arrived. His parents had insisted he drove with them to the pack house as they were afraid he wouldn't grace the ceremony.

Alpha Dennis turned towards the kitchen and stood still as he met his sister and her mate kissing, right inside of his kitchen.

Lucy, Alpha Dennis sister had her hands wrapped around Fred's neck, whilst Fred had his hands firmly on her waist.

Alpha Dennis rested on the door and watched as Fred's hands went back and forth on Lucy's body as they rolled their tongues against each other, their mouths made a ticklish sound which got Alpha Dennis pissed.

He stood there for a while but they still didn't notice his presence, his blood boiled, he hated to see such things, he cleared his throat and the both of them jerked away from each other.

"What are you both doing in my house?", he asked quitely trying to dispel his anger, he dipped his hands into his pocket, and gave Fred a glare as he waited for their answers.

"We were just being a normal couple," his sister Lucy responded with a wide grin.

Alpha Dennis eyes turned red immediately, he felt like she just rubbed the fact that he had no mate right on his face, it was obvious to Lucy that he was angry, she immediately realized what she just said and gasped.

"I'm sorry Dennis." She pleaded batting her eyelids and pouting.

Alpha Dennis sighed and calmed himself down.

"Can we leave now?"

"Yeah sure." Lucy replied and gave Fred a quick kiss again.

"Lucy", Dennis barked, his deep voice echoed between the walls of the room and came back at them

" I don't want to be late", he said and walked out of the house, Lucy and Fred walked gently behind him, they wouldn't want to get on his nerves again.

They got into the car and drove to the venue. After minutes of silent drive, Alpha Dennis cleared his throat.

"Fred," he called.

"Hey." Fred replied, he had stayed quite all through the banter between the both of them.

"I just wanted to ask what you think about something" Dennis said in a calm voice

"Sure go ahead," Fred urged him to continue

"It is about the Pack business," Alpha Dennis said turning the car to the left.

Lucy groaned. "Can't we talk about something else asides the pack?"

"I wasn't talking to you Lucy."

"But I'm in the car with you both." She whined.

Fred knew if he didn't interrupt, the siblings would turn the discussion into another heated argument.

"What is it about the Pack business?" Fred asked disrupting the both of them.

"The enforcers are protecting our border, we can't bring anything in," Dennis explained.

"What!", Fred exclaimed. "what have you done about this?" he asked.

"I've tried to talk them out of it but they would not listen", Dennis ranted.

"I don't think talking them out of it would be the solution." Fred stated.

"What do you mean?" He asked.

Fred chuckled, "Dennis we all know who you are."

"What do you mean?"

"I mean you wouldn't have held a productive talk with those people, you aren't patient enough to convince them." Fred stressed.

"We could think of something else to do, we should talk to Troy about it, let's see..." Fred was still talking but Lucy stopped him with a kiss, she was lost to what they were discussing and was tired of hearing them talk.

Since they were seated at the back seat and Alpha Dennis car had a partition between the drivers seat and the passengers seat, she shamelessly pulled him to herself and tugged at his hair, Fred couldn't resist her, he bent and kissed her back, Lucy took that as a go ahead and crawled into his legs straddling him as she did. He pulled her closer to himself and bit her lips, Lucy chuckled as her lips burnt from pleasure, she wanted him right there and she couldn't hide it.

"I want you." she moaned silently into his ears.

Fred's eyes widened, "Now?", he asked with a smile, it was obvious he wanted it too but they couldn't dare have sex on Alpha Dennis car.

"Yeah, right now and here", Lucy mumbled and pulled him closer, her head hovering right above his.

"Fred," Dennis called when he noticed the both of them behind him were suddenly quite.

"Fred," he called again but Fred had his lips on Lucy so he couldn't answer.

Alpha Dennis turned to see what was happening, but he couldn't since the partition was covering them but he need no soot Sayer to let him know what the both of them were up to behind him.

He smirked and pressed hard on the car accelerator then slammed hard on his brake making the car jerk back and front before coming to an halt.

Lucy screamed. "Are you trying to kill us?"

Alpha Dennis laughed, "Of course not dear sister, I was only trying to get your attention."

Lucy seemed angry at him and kept fuming until they got to the venue of the ceremony.

The party was in full swing when Alpha Dennis walked in; as much as he wanted to get in without being noticed, he still couldn't help the states from the people.

Who wouldn't be attracted to the Alpha of the Miyake pack? With his black suit shining under the lights of the ballroom, his turtle neck sparkling more than diamonds would, his well-polished black shoes, and perfectly combed jet black hair.

Alpha Dennis was nothing short of handsome, and as soon as he walked in, all eyes were on him, making him feel awkward as he was flaunting the order of coming to the party with a plus one.

He ignored the many not-so-subtle stares of people and walked deeper into the room, returning greetings and bowing in response to those who turned to him.

He soon got to his reserved seat beside the couples and sat awkwardly. Everyone else sat as soon as he did; they had been waiting for him to arrive so he could make the toast for the couple.

When the last symphony was played, Alpha Dennis stood up and faced everyone.

"Good evening, great people of the Miyake clan." He greeted.

"Good evening." They all replied excitedly.

Alpha Dennis smiled at their enthusiasm; it was apparent they were all enjoying themselves. Maybe he would have enjoyed the gathering if he had a mate, but he couldn't bear them glued to their lovers.

"Thanks for gracing this great event in honor of my best friend and amiable Beta Troy and his sweet mate Alicia." He nodded his head at Ben with a teasing smile.

"Before I proceed, I'll like to give y'all a brief history of my friend here." He Said and everyone giggled.

"Troy has been my friend for twenty-four years now, and he has been a great friend and Beta, a very naughty and fun-loving person. I'm so glad he is finally moving to another stage in his life. Troy, here is me saying congratulations." Alpha Denis said.

"Thank you for all you do for the pack and me." He added appreciatively, turning away from the couple to face the audience.

"Today, we celebrate this great union specially ordained by the moon goddess." He said, and everyone erupted in happy noises.

"I love you." Alicia blushed as Troy pecked her lips slightly.

Alpha Dennis lifted his cup of wine and raised it. "Here is to a very fruitful union."

Everyone clicked their glass in a toast, and the musicians began playing once again. The people soon dispersed in all directions; some went to get food, some resumed at the dance floor, while some were together in groups of two and three gossiping about what was and not.

Alpha Dennis looked around uninterested, he had just got here, and he was bored already; he also wasn't comfortable with the stares some of the elderly ones were giving him.
