Chapter 29

Darcy began work again at the company a week later and she had to walk across the factory the first thing in the morning with time to spare and mixed feelings in her heart. She knew what it was going to cost her to walk calmly through the gates of the factory and climb the wooden stairs of the office at the far end of the building and even out there in the open her heart all but failed her at the sight of the factory with its tall stack standing out against the sky.

It would be so easy to turn back, to say that she had changed her mind and she knew that it wouldn't be easy, not for Darcy Fletcher. Pride would force her to go on to keep the promise she had made to Gail. It was easier working at the office but when it came to watching the people work in the factory she had a nostalgic feeling. Although she reminded him she was a temporary arrangement the bond she had for her family legacy had to be kept in her subconscious and not let it out.
